  • Packers' Isaiah McDuffie: Gets big workload in Brazil

McDuffie recorded six tackles (three solo) during Friday's 34-29 loss against Philadelphia.

McDuffie was on the field for nearly all of the Packers' defensive snaps in Week 1, indicating he could project for some IDP value for the remainder of the season. He should see a good dose of the run versus the Colts in Week 2.

  • Packers' Malik Willis: Looks headed for Week 2 start

Willis is expected to start at quarterback in the Packers' Week 2 home game against the Colts on Sept. 15, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has yet to comment on the team's plans at quarterback for Week 2 and likely won't until the team resumes practicing during the upcoming week, but Willis appears poised to take over for Jordan Love (knee), who suffered an MCL sprain in Friday's 34-29 loss to the Eagles in Brazil. As Glazer notes, the Packers received better news than anticipated regarding Love, who suffered a "Grade 1 or 2" sprain, which is considered a "2-to-4-week injury." With that in mind, Willis doesn't look as though he'll be in store for a long-term stint atop the depth chart if he does in fact take over as the team's new starter. The Packers acquired Willis from the Titans in the final week of August, so he didn't have a chance to play in any of Green Bay's preseason contests before he came on to replace Love for the final six seconds of Friday's loss. Willis has appeared in parts of 12 games (three starts) over his three-year NFL career, completing 35 of 67 pass attempts for 350 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions while taking 15 sacks and carrying 32 times for 144 yards and another score. The Packers would presumably lean on a run-heavy game plan while Willis fills in for Love.

  • Packers' Jordan Love: Facing 3-to-6-week timeline

Love is expected to miss somewhere between three to six weeks after he was diagnosed with an MCL sprain of his left knee after suffering the injury in the final minute off Friday's 34-29 loss to the Eagles, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The Packers were likely bracing for the worst after Love was in considerable pain and needed to be helped off the field when Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter unintentionally rolled into Love's plant leg Friday, but multiple scans and tests have confirmed that the quarterback avoided a season-ending injury. The Packers have historically been cautious when it comes to players contending with knee and soft-tissue injuries in past seasons, though some reports have suggested that Love might be able to return on the shorter side of the projected 3-to-6-week timeline. Regardless of whatever length of time Love misses, the Packers will have to break in a new starting quarterback beginning Week 2 against the Colts, though it's unclear if Malik Willis -- who was traded from the Titans to the Packers just two weeks ago -- will operate as the team's new signal-caller. Sean Clifford was cut following the preseason but later re-signed to the practice squad, and after spending his entire rookie season on the Packers' active roster, he could end up getting the first crack at the starting job if Willis still needs more time to get up to speed with his new playbook. For Love's fantasy managers, the next key note to monitor will be whether he can avoid a stint on injured reserve, which would require an absence of at least four games.

  • Packers' Jordan Love: May have avoided serious injury

Love is believed to have suffered an MCL injury in Friday's 34-29 loss to the Eagles, and while the exact severity of the injury won't be known until he undergoes additional testing, the quarterback is expected to be able to play again this season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has reported that Love is dealing with an MCL sprain, although a diagnosis has yet to be confirmed by the team. Multiple reports have already suggested that Love has avoided an ACL tear, and while that's encouraging news with regard to his availability later in the season, the signal-caller still looks set to miss some duration of time. Malik Willis came in for the final two snaps of Friday's game, and the Packers still have last season's backup, Sean Clifford, on the practice squad. However, a potential multi-week absence for Love could have the team considering all options available, including a veteran free agent like Ryan Tannehill, who played under Matt LaFleur when the two were together on the Titans.

  • Packers' Rashan Gary: Grabs Week 1 sack

Gary picked up three tackles (one solo) and a sack in Friday's 34-29 loss to the Eagles.

Gary had not recorded a full sack since Week 12 of last season, but he snapped that streak in his first opportunity to do so in the current campaign. Gary will play with his hand in the dirt more frequently in 2024, as the Packers transitioned from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense over the offseason.

  • Packers' Xavier McKinney: Makes good first impression

McKinney tallied four tackles (three solo) and an interception in Friday's 34-29 loss to the Eagles.

McKinney signed a lucrative contract with the Packers over the offseason, and he made an immediate impact, picking off Jalen Hurts on Philadelphia's opening drive. McKinney did not do much in the tackle department, but he recorded 116 stops during the 2023 regular season, so that will not necessarily be the norm.

  • Packers' Jaire Alexander: Logs interception in loss

Alexander recorded four solo tackles and an interception in Friday's 34-29 loss to the Eagles.

Alexander was not particularly tight in coverage in Week 1, but he did at least pick up an interception after not recording even one in seven regular-season 2023 appearances. Injuries have been an issue for Alexander in recent years, but on the heels of a healthy offseason he is locked in as Green Bay's top cornerback.

  • Packers' Quay Walker: Racks up 11 tackles

Walker made 11 tackles (seven solo) in Friday's 34-29 loss to the Eagles.

Walker was on the field for all 76 plays Philadelphia ran in Friday's contest, and he wound up tying for the team lead in tackles. Walker -- while appearing in only 14 regular-season games last season -- averaged 119.5 tackles over his first two seasons as a professional, and he should easily reach triple digits again as long as he remains healthy.
