Jets' Braelon Allen: Gets first two NFL touches
Allen rushed once for eight yards and caught his only target for nine yards in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers.
With a nine-yard catch late in the fourth quarter, Allen became the youngest player to register a touch on offense in the Super Bowl era at 20 years and 233 days. The rookie fourth-round draft pick out of Wisconsin added an eight-yard run on the following play, but he watched Breece Hall amass 21 touches before that point, so Allen's a distant second on the Jets' running back depth chart heading into Week 2 against the Titans.

Jets' Tyler Conklin: Just one catch on MNF
Conklin caught one of two targets for six yards in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers.
Conklin came up empty on his lone target from Aaron Rodgers, but he caught a pass from backup Tyrod Taylor on the Jets' final possession after Rodgers went to the bench with the game out of reach. No other Jets tight end drew a target, so at least Conklin's safely atop the depth chart, but his lack of targets from Rodgers was disappointing considering Conklin had at least three catches in all but four games last season. Conklin will look to bounce back in Week 2 against the Titans.

Jets' Mike Williams: Used as decoy in Jets debut
Williams wasn't targeted in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers.
Playing on a pitch count in his recovery from a torn ACL suffered last September, Williams played only four snaps in his first half as a Jet and continued to see minimal action in the second half. The former Chargers wide receiver is likely to gradually ramp up his workload, so he could be more involved in Week 2 against the Titans, but Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard should continue to lead the Jets' receiving corps early in the season after combining for 12 catches, 149 yards and two touchdowns on 20 targets Monday.

Jets' Allen Lazard: Scores twice in Rodgers' return
Lazard caught six of nine targets for 89 yards and two touchdowns in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers.
Early on, Lazard looked like the same player that caught just 23 of 49 targets for 311 yards last season, as he dropped a catchable ball on third down to end the Jets' opening drive and finished without a catch on two first-half targets. He turned things around in the second half, rekindling his chemistry with Aaron Rodgers from their Packers days with a 26-yard catch and a 36-yard touchdown reception in a four-play span. Lazard added a three-yard touchdown catch in the final minute from backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who replaced Rodgers for mop-up duty with the game out of reach. It took Lazard just one game to double last season's touchdown total, and he should continue to play a prominent role in Week 2 against the Titans, as the Jets are bringing fellow wide receiver Mike Williams (zero targets) along slowly early in the season as Williams recovers from last September's ACL tear.

Jets' Garrett Wilson: Eleven targets in Week 1 loss
Wilson caught six of 11 targets for 60 yards in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers.
All 46 of Wilson's first-half receiving yards came on the Jets' touchdown drive on the third possession, but Aaron Rodgers threw for only two yards on the team's other five first-half possessions. Allen Lazard led the Jets' passing game with 89 yards and two touchdown catches in the second half, while Wilson remained stuck in first gear. Expectations are high for Wilson with a healthy Rodgers after the 2022 first-round draft pick began his career with a pair of 1,000-yard seasons despite abhorrent quarterback play. Wilson's volume Monday was encouraging, but he'll look to pick up the production in Week 2 against a Titans defense that's much less intimidating than San Francisco's, even with the offseason addition of cornerback L'Jarius Sneed.

Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Rusty in return
Rodgers completed 13 of 21 passes for 167 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers. He also rushed once for minus-1 yard.
Rodgers had just 64 passing yards in the first half, 62 of which came on a 12-play, 70-yard touchdown drive on the Jets' third possession, which was capped by a three-yard Breece Hall touchdown run. The veteran quarterback was picked off on a tipped ball on the Jets' first drive of the second half, but Rodgers bounced back with a 36-yard touchdown pass to Allen Lazard on a free play on the following drive. New York couldn't get any closer, though, and Tyrod Taylor mopped up with a touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter after the game got out of reach. Overall, Rodgers gave the Jets two vintage drives and looked like a 40-year-old quarterback coming off an Achilles tear the rest of the game. Perhaps he'll sustain a higher level of play longer once he settles in, and Rodgers should benefit from facing the Titans in Week 2 rather than a vaunted 49ers defense coming off a Super Bowl appearance.

Jets' Breece Hall: TD, fumble in Week 1 loss
Hall rushed 16 times for 54 yards and a touchdown while catching five of six targets for 39 yards and losing a fumble in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers.
Hall atoned for a fumble on the Jets' second possession with a three-yard touchdown run on the next drive. He failed to get in on a two-point conversion attempt in the third quarter after the first of Allen Lazard's two touchdown catches cut the deficit to 26-13. The Jets' makeover on the offensive line and the return of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers was supposed to help open up more running lanes for Hall, but the jury's still out in that regard, as his unimpressive 3.4 yards per carry Monday can be chalked up to facing an elite 49ers defensive front. Hall got the first 21 touches among Jets running backs before rookie Braelon Allen got a pair on the team's final drive, so Hall should continue to be a three-down workhorse against the Titans in Week 2.

Jets' Michael Carter: Questionable to return
Carter (ankle) is questionable to return to Monday's game against the 49ers, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
The starting cornerback made two tackles before exiting. Carter dealt with an ankle injury throughout training camp but seemed to recover in time for the opener. It's unclear if this injury is related to that one.

Jets' Israel Abanikanda: Won't play Monday
Abanikanda (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's game against the 49ers.
The Jets will roll with running backs Breece Hall, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis for the regular-season opener. Abanikanda will have to wait to make his first appearance of the 2024 season until Week 2 against Tennessee.

Jets' Zaire Barnes: Shifts to IR
The Jets placed Barnes (ankle) on injured reserve Monday.
Barnes had been ruled out for the Jets' Week 1 matchup with the 49ers and has since been placed on IR with an ankle injury. The second-year linebacker will be forced to miss at least New York's next four contests. With Barnes and Jimmy Ciarlo (knee) on IR, the Jets have just three healthy outside linebackers on their active roster: Quincy Williams, Sam Eguavoen and Jamien Sherwood.

Jets' Anthony Firkser: Could suit up for MNF
Firkser was elevated from the Jets' practice squad Monday.
Firkser joined the team's practice squad after being unable to make their 53-man roster during training camp. The veteran's promotion comes as a bit of a surprise, with three tight ends already on the active roster, although it's not guaranteed he'll be active for Monday's game against the 49ers.
