Andrews (shoulder) said Tuesday that he sustained a torn right rotator cuff in the Patriots' Week 4 loss to the 49ers and will miss the remainder of the season, Mike Kadlick of CLNSMedia.com reports.
Andrews turned 32 years old back in July and wants to continue his playing career next season, assuming he makes a full recovery from surgery. Nick Leverett replaced Andrews as the starting center in Week 5 and had a rough afternoon in the Patriots' loss to Miami, allowing 10 pressures, the most by a center in at least the last 18 seasons.

The Patriots placed Andrews (shoulder) on injured reserve Friday.
Head coach Jerod Mayo told reporters Wednesday that Andrews will undergo shoulder surgery and likely miss the remainder of the season, so this news comes as no surprise. By rule, the 32-year-old will be forced to miss the Patriots' next four contests, and Nick Leverett (ankle) is expected to serve as New England's top center until Andrews is able to return.

Andrews suffered the injury in Sunday's loss to the 49ers and was seeking multiple medical opinions on his injury, as Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reported Tuesday. The loss of the Georgia product is a big one for the Patriots and their offensive line, which Nick Leverett will work to lessen the burden of, as he is expected to take over center duties in New England.

Andrew's exact injury is unknown, but it would seem that he and the team are trying to decide if he can play through it, rehab it or if he needs surgery to repair it.
