Darrell Taylor: Cut to make room for Reed
Taylor was waived by the Texans on Monday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Taylor is being cut less than a week after being activated from injured reserve. This move paves the way for the Texans to activate safety Jaylen Reed (forearm) from injured reserve ahead of Monday's wild-card game at Pittsburgh.

Texans' Darrell Taylor: Activated from IR
The Texans activated Taylor (ankle) to the 53-man roster from injured reserve Tuesday.
Taylor resumed practicing in full mid-December, so it appears he'll be ready to contribute during Monday's wild-card round matchup against the Steelers. Expect the defensive end to handle a depth role on defense and also take snaps on special teams.

Taylor was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday and was able to log consecutive full practices to close out the week. Despite the performances, the defensive end will not be activated to play against the Raiders. Taylor (ankle) was designated to return from the injured reserve list Wednesday.
The Tennessee product's return to practice Wednesday comes as no surprise, as Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reported that he was expected to be medically cleared in the next week or so. Taylor has appeared in four games for the Texans this season, recording three total tackles. He must still be added to Houston's active roster in order to play in Sunday's matchup against the Raiders.
