Dolphins' Tyrel Dodson: Reduced role in Miami
Dodson played in 17 regular-season games in 2024 -- nine with Seattle, eight with Miami -- and finished with 107 tackles (59 solo), including 2.0 sacks, six pass defenses (three interceptions) and one forced fumble.
Dodson signed a one-year, $4.26 million contract with the Seahawks in March. He logged 71 combined tackles through nine games with Seattle, but he was waived Nov. 11 due to the Seahawks' acquisition of Ernest Jones from the Titans and the rise of rookie fourth-rounder Tyrice Knight. Dodson was claimed off waivers by the Dolphins one day later, and his role with Miami's first-team defense fluctuated, though he did register a career-high 15 tackles against the Browns in Week 17. Dodson will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and he'll look to join a team who can promise him a more consistent role on defense.

Dolphins' Tyrel Dodson: Career-high 15 tackles vs. Browns
Dodson finished Sunday's 20-3 win over Cleveland with 15 tackles (eight solo) and one interception.
Dodson was limited to special-teams work for the Dolphins' prior three games, but he started at inside linebacker Sunday due to Anthony Walker being ruled out with a knee injury. Dodson made the most of his opportunity by leading Miami in tackles en route to his best output in his five-year NFL career. He also logged his third interception of the season when he picked off Dorian Thompson-Robinson on a pass intended for Jerry Jeudy midway through the second quarter. Dodson could start in the Dolphins' regular-season finale against the Jets on Sunday if Walker isn't cleared to return from his knee injury.

Dolphins' Tyrel Dodson: Totals 10 tackles Thanksgiving
Dodson accumulated 10 tackles (five solo) in Thursday's Week 13 loss to Green Bay.
Dodson played every one of Miami's defensive snaps in the contest, the eighth time he's done that this season. The veteran linebacker paced the Dolphins in tackles and registered double-digit stops for the third time on the campaign. Dodson is up to 71 tackles through nine games, putting him three away from the career-high 74 stops he recorded in 2023 with Buffalo.

Dolphins' Tyrel Dodson: Nabs pick vs. Patriots
Dodson recorded five total tackles (two solo) and intercepted one pass in Sunday's 34-15 win over the Patriots.
Dodson, claimed off waivers by the Dolphins on Nov. 12, played 45 defensive snaps in just his second game with Miami after Anthony Walker exited Sunday's win with a hamstring injury. The Texas A&M product led the Seahawks in total tackles before being waived and has now accumulated 76 stops across 11 appearances this season. There's a strong chance that Walker is sidelined for the Dolphins' Week 13 matchup in Green Bay, so Dodson will likely continue to see increased defensive work alongside Jordyn Brooks in Miami's linebacker corps.
