Vikings' Cam Akers: Productive in backup role
Akers had five carries for 39 yards in Minnesota's wild-card-round loss to the Rams. He finished the season with 104 carries for 444 yards rushing, 14 receptions for 68 yards and five total touchdowns.
Akers played the first five games of the season with Houston (amassing 147 yards rushing) and was traded to the Vikings where he initially was third string. He soon overtook Ty Chandler as the backup to Aaron Jones and had a productive second half of the season. Akers showed some big-play ability with 232 yards rushing, 48 yards receiving and three touchdowns in his last eight games. He becomes an unrestricted free agent after the season, but the Vikings would seem likely to want to bring him back considering they've traded for him in consecutive seasons.

Vikings' Cam Akers: Suiting up Monday
Akers (illness) is listed as active for Monday's wild-card game against the Rams.
Akers wasn't able to practice Saturday due to an illness, which left him questionable for the Vikings' playoff opener. Despite the ailment, he'll be able to suit up Monday and serve as the primary backup to starting RB Aaron Jones, which has amounted to 6.2 touches for 29.1 yards from scrimmage per game and three total TDs in 12 appearances for Minnesota this season.

Vikings' Cam Akers: Trending toward playing
Akers, who is listed as questionable for Monday's wild-card contest against the Rams with an illness, is expected to play, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
It appears as if there's a bug going around in the Vikings backfield, as Ty Chandler didn't practice Friday due to an illness. In any case, Akers is likely going to reprise his role as the backup to Aaron Jones (quadriceps) in the playoff matchup Monday night. Expect official confirmation to occur ahead of the 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

Vikings' Cam Akers: Efficient in loss to Detroit
Akers rushed six times for 65 yards during Sunday's 31-9 loss to the Lions. He also secured both of his targets for four yards.
Akers played his usual No. 2 backfield role behind Aaron Jones on the road at Detroit, a game in which he logged his first breakaway run of 40-plus yards on the season. Across 12 regular-season games with Minnesota, he has logged 64 carries for 297 yards (4.6 YPC) and one touchdown, while securing 10 of 11 targets for 52 yards and two scores. Vikings' Cam Akers: Hits pay dirt in win
Akers rushed six times for 18 yards and caught two of three targets for 15 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-25 win over the Packers.
Akers' touchdown was his third receiving score of the season and fifth total trip to the end zone this season. The veteran running back saw an increase in playing time Sunday, as teammate Aaron Jones (quad) was pulled out of the game out of caution and missed the entire fourth quarter. Akers may be thrown into a starting role in Week 18 if Jones is unable to suit up, but it appears Jones has a realistic chance to play in the season finale, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Next up for the Vikings is a matchup with the Lions to decide the NFC North and the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Vikings' Cam Akers: Just one carry in win
Akers had one carry for three yards in Sunday's win at Seattle.
Akers played on just seven of the offense's 66 snaps as Minnesota stuck with Aaron Jones (54 snaps) more than usual with him playing well. Akers should get more touches the final two games to keep Jones fresh.
