    Maybe scoreboard operators should seek combat pay for games involving either of these two sides. We know of Queens' exploits, but Bellarmine seems no less likely to slow down the pace in recent weeks, especially with F Jack Karasinski (21.1 ppg) not far off of the national scoring leaders. The Knights have been involved in several recent shootouts, including a 99-85 loss at Kentucky and losing 87-85 at West Georgia. As for the go-go Royals, fast is how they've played the past few years for HC Grant Leonard, and more so this season, now riding an 8-1 over streak (lone under just a half-point short last Monday vs. Auburn) with a scoring defense that ranks 355th out of 361 at 89 ppg...sheesh!     Analysis

    North Carolina have won seven straight games and scored 71 or more points in six straight. The Mustangs have scored a 209 points in their last two games and are 9-0 SU at home. SMU will push the pace at home and even though they aren’t as tall at the Tar Heels, they have more experience. SMU has been the more consistent offensive team and better free throw shooting team especially with this short line.

    Analysis

    Loyola was so unimpressive earlier this season that not even local legend Jerry Burliant was seen at Gentile Arena. Burliant, however, might show up soon if the Ramblers can expand upon their current win streak that has victimized Santa Clara and Rhode Island. The recent activation of 6-8 Wisconsin transfer F Xavier Amos (12.8 ppg) has given Drew Valentine a lineup full of double-digit scorers, and added some interior presence alongside 6-10 Miles Rubin. The floor is now opening up a bit more for ex-Drexel transfer G Justin Moore, scoring at 16.3 pg across the last three games.     Analysis

    It's tough to go against Vanderbilt right now but this line a little high for me. I make Vandy around -14 here. It gets tougher to win by 20+ every night once teams start conference play, especially on the road. The one edge South Carolina has in this matchup is the Gamecocks are an excellent free throw shooting team and Vanderbilt's aggressive style causes them to foul at an above average rate. That may not seem like a huge deal but that can help an underdog stay within a big number. I'll take the 18.5 here but I wouldn't go below +16.5.

    Analysis

    I still don't really understand why the Penguins traded their top goalie, Tristan Jarry, to Edmonton and downgraded in net with Stuart Skinner coming back if they are trying to contend. Can't say I know a ton about hockey prospects, but maybe the Pens got a few good ones in the deal too. Because it sure looks lopsided to me right now. Actually Skinner was pretty good last time out but hadn't been overall since the deal at 1-3-0 with a 3.36 GAA with the new club. Always tough to sweep a home-and-home and the Wings lost in Pittsburgh, 4-3 in OT on New Year's Day. Two different goalies than what we should see today.
