  • Athletics' Miguel Andujar: Sitting for Kurtz's debut

Andujar is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

The 30-year-old has enjoyed a productive start to the season with a .795 OPS through 19 games, but he may still end up being the odd man out of the lineup with prospect Nick Kurtz being called up Wednesday for his MLB debut. Kurtz is expected to play every day between first base and designated hitter, which will result in Tyler Soderstrom and Brent Rooker seeing more action in left field, with Soderstrom receiving the start Wednesday.

  • Athletics' Miguel Andujar: Swats second homer

Andujar went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Rangers.

The two squads combined for eight homers on the night, and Andujar got the barrage started by lofting a Patrick Corbin slider over the fence in left field in the second inning. Andujar's had a tremendous start to the season, slashing .319/.360/.435 with two homers, eight runs and nine RBI in 19 games, but that may not be enough to hang onto an everyday job once top prospect Nick Kurtz makes his debut, as Brent Rooker and Tyler Soderstrom will both see action in left field to accommodate the rookie.

  • Athletics' Miguel Andujar: Rattles off three hits

Andujar went 3-for-4 in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Brewers.

Andujar rested Thursday and came back into the lineup with a strong game. He's logged multiple hits in six of his 17 games this season, batting .300 (18-for-60) so far. He's added a home run, seven RBI, seven runs scored, a double and no stolen bases across 66 plate appearances. Andujar continues to serve as the Athletics' primary left fielder, but he's provided little more than a strong batting average.

Andujar (abdomen) is playing left field and batting sixth in Sunday's Cactus League contest against Colorado.

Andujar ended last season on the 60-day IL due to an issue that required core muscle surgery. He appears to be fully recovered given his ability to hit and play the field Sunday. Andujar hit well in his first season with the Athletics last year, posting a .285/.320/.377 slash line with four homers and three stolen bases over 319 plate appearances, and he's slated to get regular at-bats in left field during the 2025 campaign.
