Top Dylan Dodd News

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Returns to Triple-A

Dodd was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett after Sunday's 10-4 win over the Red Sox, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Dodd will head back to Triple-A after being promoted to the major-league roster prior to Atlanta's three-game set in Boston over the weekend. The left-hander failed to appear in a contest while with the big-league club, and he'll now have to wait for his next shot with the team later this season. The transaction opens a space for Spencer Strider (hamstring) to return from the 15-day injured list Tuesday in Washington.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Called up Friday

Atlanta recalled Dodd from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

The left-hander opened the campaign with Gwinnett and hasn't pitched particularly well with a 5.74 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 15.2 innings, though a 21:3 K:BB is more encouraging. Dodd has primarily worked as a starter in the past, but all 16 of his appearances at Triple-A this season have come out of the bullpen, with none longer than two innings.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Optioned to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Dodd to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Dodd only made one appearance for Atlanta during spring training, during which he allowed two earned runs on three hits over one inning. Now set to begin the 2025 season in Triple-A, the 26-year-old southpaw will likely need to improve the 5.35 ERA he generated over 107.2 innings at Gwinnett last season before getting another look in the majors.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Sent back to minors

Atlanta optioned Dodd to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.

Dodd gave up a couple runs in a two-inning relief appearance Wednesday versus Milwaukee. He's being replaced on the roster by Parker Dunshee, who was called up from Triple-A to give Atlanta a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Back with big club

Atlanta recalled Dodd from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Dodd will provide length in the bullpen after Bryce Elder had an abbreviated start Tuesday against the Brewers. The left-handed Dodd was up briefly with Atlanta last month but didn't make an appearance. He holds a 4.85 ERA and 82:28 K:BB over 91 innings this season at Gwinnett.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Sent back to minors

Atlanta optioned Dodd to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

Dodd didn't make an appearance during his brief stint with the big club. He's being replaced on the roster by Allan Winans, who was called up from Gwinnett to start the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Reds.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Summoned from Triple-A, could start

Atlanta recalled Dodd from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

Dodd may be available out of the bullpen for Sunday's series finale with the Cardinals, but Atlanta could elect to stay away from the left-hander so that he can make a start during the club's upcoming three-game series with the Reds this week. Atlanta has an opening in its rotation after Max Fried was surprisingly placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday in a corresponding move due to left forearm neuritis. After turning in a 7.60 ERA over seven starts with the big club in 2023, Dodd has pitched exclusively for Gwinnett thus far in 2024, logging a 4.99 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 76:26 K:BB across 83 innings.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Lines up for big-league start

Dodd is among the top candidates to make a spot start for Atlanta on Tuesday against the Astros, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Dodd had a tough start Thursday night for Triple-A Gwinnett, allowing five earned runs across 4.2 innings while allowing six hits and two walks to go along with five strikeouts. However, he pitched well in two prior outings with Gwinnett, putting himself in the conversation for a promotion. His start Thursday notably puts him on turn with the vacated spot in the big-league rotation. Darius Vines and Bryce Elder are also vying for the job, and they are scheduled to pitch Friday and Saturday, respectively, for Gwinnett. If either is scratched, it could be an indication that they will get the call in place of Dodd.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Headed to Triple-A

Dodd was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett by Atlanta on Monday.

Dodd is a good bet to make some starts with the big club this season, but as things stand right now there's no room for him. The left-hander held a 7.60 ERA over seven starts with Atlanta last season.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Hit hard in finale

Dodd (2-2) allowed five runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out one over six innings Sunday against the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision.

Dodd gave up a four-spot to the Nationals in the first inning and then allowed another run to score in the second. He was able to settle in the rest of the way, allowing three hits over the next four innings and exiting with the game tied at 5-5. It was just the second time he's lasted six innings this year and it was the fourth straight start he allowed at least four runs. The 25-year-old finishes the year with a 7.60 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 15:12 K:BB over 34.1 innings (seven starts) and should be expected to begin next season at Triple-A Gwinnett.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Promoted for Sunday's start

Dodd was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Sunday's regular-season finale against the Nationals, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The 25-year-old was previously announced as Atlanta's probable starter for Sunday, and he's now officially been added to the MLB roster. Dodd has a 7.62 ERA, 1.94 WHIP and 14:11 K:BB across 28.1 innings (six starts) this season, but he'll receive a chance to end the campaign on a positive note with game No. 162 being meaningless for Atlanta.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Starting Sunday

Dodd will be recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Sunday's game against the Nationals, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Dodd's last big-league start dates back to Sept. 9 against the Pirates, when he surrendered four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out two across four innings. He'll be tasked with eating innings for Atlanta with little left to play for before the postseason begins.

  • Braves' Dylan Dodd: Sent to Triple-A

Dodd was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

Dodd made his first big-league start since June versus the Pirates on Saturday, but he'll return to Triple-A after he surrendered four runs on seven hits and three walks over four innings. The left-hander has a 7.62 ERA and 14:11 K:BB across 28.1 frames in the majors this season, so he likely won't be atop the list of candidates should Atlanta need another spot starter down the stretch.
