Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Throws five innings once again
Peralta (2-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Giants, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks in five-plus innings. He struck out three.
Although the right-hander yielded a season-high three runs, he tossed at least five innings in his sixth consecutive start to open the campaign. Peralta was mostly sailing until the sixth inning, when he allowed three straight baserunners to reach, with the bullpen allowed all three to come around to score. Peralta still holds a strong 2.43 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 36:11 K:BB over 33.1 innings this year, and he'll have a prime opportunity to rebound from Wednesday's showing in his next scheduled start against the White Sox.

Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Strong in second win
Peralta (2-1) allowed seven hits and a walk while striking out five over five scoreless innings to earn the win Friday over the Athletics.
Peralta has allowed no more than two runs in any of his five starts so far this season. He threw 55 of 93 pitches for strikes in this contest and came away with his second, both of which have come over the last three starts. He's now at a 1.91 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 33:9 K:BB across 28.1 innings. Peralta's next start is expected to be on the road versus the Giants.

Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Generates 16 whiffs in no-decision
Peralta did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 5-2 loss at Arizona, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks with six strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
The Diamondbacks ran up the pitch count on Peralta, as the Milwaukee right-hander required 104 pitches -- only 58 of which were strikes -- to complete 16 outs. Despite being chased before completing the sixth inning, Peralta managed to generate an impressive 16 whiffs. He now owns a 2.31 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB across 23.1 innings. The 28-year-old is currently slated to make his next start against the Athletics at home this weekend.

Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Strong start continues in first win
Peralta (1-1) got the win Tuesday against the Rockies after allowing one run on three hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out six.
Besides a solo homer by Brenton Doyle in the third inning, it was smooth sailing for Peralta, as he gained his first win of the year despite having to work at hitter-friendly Coors Field. Through 18 innings (three starts) to open the campaign, the star right-hander now totes a strong 2.00 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 22:4 K:BB. On tap for Peralta is another tough draw in Arizona for his next scheduled start this weekend.

Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Ties career high with eight innings
Peralta struck out eight but didn't factor in the decision Wednesday versus the Royals after giving up one run on two hits and no walks over eight innings.
The right-hander surrendered a run on two hits during the second inning but otherwise didn't allow a baserunner while retiring the final 19 batters he faced. Peralta's eight frames tied a career high, which he first achieved in April 2019 during his second MLB season. He induced 19 swinging strikes while putting 66 of his 97 pitches in the zone. Peralta has a 2.08 ERA with a 16:1 K:BB in 13 frames through his first two starts of the year, and he lines up to pitch again early next week versus the Rockies at Coors Field.

Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Fans eight in Opening Day loss
Peralta (0-1) was charged with the loss Thursday against the Yankees, striking out eight and allowing two runs on four hits and one walk across five innings.
The 28-year-old surrendered solo homers in each of the first two frames but settled down from there to keep the Brewers close. It was an inefficient outing despite just one free pass, as Peralta needed 93 pitches to record 15 outs. The right-hander averaged only 5.4 innings per start while throwing a career-high 173.2 frames last year, and his season debut doesn't inspire confidence that he'll be able to consistently work deeper into games in 2025. Even with some volume limitations however, he's reached 200 strikeouts in each of the past two seasons. Peralta lines up to face the Royals at home next week.

Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Confirmed as Opening Day starter
Manager Pat Murphy said Wednesday that Peralta will start Opening Day, March 27 against the Yankees, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Peralta will presumably be opposed by Gerrit Cole, although the Yankees have not yet confirmed as much. It will be the second straight Opening Day assignment for Peralta, who collected a 3.68 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 200:68 K:BB over 173.2 innings covering 32 starts during the 2024 regular season.
