  • Twins' DaShawn Keirsey: Returns from hand injury

Keirsey (hand) entered Tuesday's win over the White Sox in the ninth inning as a defensive replacement in right field. Keirsey exited Saturday's game against Atlanta with a hand contusion after getting hit by a pitch. While he hasn't had a plate appearance since suffering the injury, he appears to be healthy enough to be an option off the bench.

Keirsey exited Saturday's game against Atlanta with a hand contusion, Audra Martin of FanDuel Sports Network North reports. • Twins' DaShawn Keirsey: Makes Minnesota's roster

The Twins informed Keirsey on Monday that he has made the Opening Day roster, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Keirsey earned the spot after hitting .275 with one home run and three stolen bases during Grapefruit League play. The 27-year-old can handle all three outfield spots and will operate mostly as a backup, although he could draw some starts in the outfield on days the Twins use Trevor Larnach, Byron Buxton or Matt Wallner at designated hitter.

The Twins recalled Keirsey from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday. With Trevor Larnach (hamstring) set to miss the rest of the year due to a hamstring injury, Keirsey will rejoin the Twins to give the big squad some outfield depth. The 27-year-old went just 1-for-10 during his first stint in the majors.
