Marte went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run during Friday's 3-2 loss to the Reds.
Marte delivered a great performance from the ninth spot in the batting order, scoring the first Reds run of the game with a homer in the third and setting the table for the team's second run with a double in the seventh before being lifted in the eighth inning. It's been a small sample size so far, but the 23-year-old has impressed at the plate, slashing .295/.344/.545 with five doubles, a triple, five home runs and 21 RBI in 26 games played this season.

Marte had been working through a rough patch at the plate, entering Wednesday's contest with just two hits in his last 23 at-bats. Marte has been sidelined by an oblique strain since early May but is back on the active roster after going 10-for-30 with two homers and a triple during a nine-game rehab assignment. The 23-year-old has seen action in just 19 big-league games so far this season but has been productive when available with three homers, 17 RBI and an .857 OPS in 73 plate appearances.

Marte started at third base and played all nine innings, the first nine-inning game he's played in the field during his rehab assignment. The rehab has taken him from the Arizona Complex League (three starts) to Double-A Chattanooga (four starts) and now to Louisville. Marte (oblique) appeared in both ends of a doubleheader Sunday and went a combined 3-for-6 with a walk, a triple and two RBI for Double-A Chattanooga.
Rain washed out potential rehab games Friday and Saturday before Marte returned to the field. He served as the designated hitter in Sunday's opener and played third base in the nightcap. The rehab plan was for Marte to play five consecutive games for the Lookouts before he was to be re-evaluated, but the rain limited him to four contests. Chattanooga was off Monday and will begin a road trip Tuesday. It is unclear if the Reds will send Marte on the road or conduct the re-evaluation.

Marte (oblique) started at designated hitter and went 0-for-4 with a run scored for Double-A Chattanooga on Wednesday.
This was Marte's first rehab game at an affiliate following a weekend spent in the Arizona Complex League. He's expected to play five consecutive games and then will be re-evaluated, per Greg Kuffner of MSN.com. Marte has been on the 10-day injured list since May 7.

Marte has been hitting without issue in recent days and was cleared to play in rehab games after an MRI on his left oblique came back clean. The young infielder has been sidelined since early May but should be ready for activation from the 10-day injured list following a handful of rehab contests. Marte has slashed .294/.342/.515 this season and could step back in as the Reds' primary third baseman upon his return.

The exact nature of those rotational activities were not divulged in the report, but it's safe to assume that means swinging a bat and taking batting practice. He's missed three-plus weeks with the oblique issue and is expected to require a multi-game rehab assignment.

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Healing better than expected
Marte (oblique) had a scheduled follow-up MRI moved up one week after the Reds' medical staff was pleased with his progress since being placed on the injured list May 7, MLB.com reports.
Marte's checkup MRI has now been moved from June 4 to May 27. The results of the MRI should determine whether Marte is able to begin resuming baseball activities.
