  • Mets' Max Kranick: Diagnosed with flexor strain

Kranick (elbow) was diagnosed Saturday with a right flexor strain following an MRI and won't throw for the next 3-to-4 weeks, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Kranick was placed on the injured list Thursday, but the extent of his injury wasn't known until the results of his MRI are read. Given that he'll be shut down from throwing for the next three weeks, Kranick is safe to rule out through the All-Star break.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Shelved with elbow injury

The Mets placed Kranick on the 15-day injured list Thursday due to a right elbow strain.

Kranick has been a strong middle-relief option for the Mets this season, turning in a 3.65 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 37 innings out of the bullpen. However, he'll be unavailable for the remainder of the month while he tends to his injured elbow. With the Mets also sending Ty Adcock back to Triple-A Syracuse, New York called up Justin Hagenman and Dedniel Nunez from the minors to fill the two open spots on the pitching staff.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Brought up to active roster

The Mets recalled Kranick from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Kranick made the Opening Day roster but was sent down to Syracuse on June 3 after logging a 3.51 ERA across 33.1 innings for the Mets. The 27-year-old returns to the big-league club Friday, slotting into a middle-relief role as he takes the roster spot of Kodai Senga (hamstring).

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Set to return to majors

The Mets plan to recall Max Kranick on Friday, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

The Mets are shuffling their pitching staff due to the injury to Kodai Senga (hamstring). Paul Blackburn is the likeliest candidate to take over in the rotation, while Kranick should be used out of the bullpen. He has had success in the majors this season, maintaining a 3.51 ERA and 0.96 WHIP to go along with a 23:3 K:BB across 33.1 frames.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Sent down to Syracuse

The Mets optioned Kranick to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Pat Ragazzo of SI.com reports.

Kranick has been effective in relief for New York this season, turning in a 3.51 ERA and 0.91 WHIP across 33.1 innings. However, he'll end up as the roster casualty necessary to add Brandon Waddell, who is capable of giving the Mets much more length out of the bullpen.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Picks up fifth hold

Kranick recorded his fifth hold of the season in Monday's extra-inning win over the Dodgers, striking out two and giving up a solo home run in the seventh inning.

The right-hander couldn't sneak a first-pitch curveball past Shohei Ohtani with two outs in the seventh of a 2-0 game, but he otherwise had little trouble. Kranick's numbers have taken a step back since the beginning of May -- over his last 15.2 innings he's posted a 4.60 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB -- and he remains on the periphery of the Mets' high-leverage crew. Kranick's five holds is tied for third on the team among healthy relievers, behind Reed Garrett's 13 and Huascar Brazoban's eight.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Grabs win Wednesday

Kranick (2-0) earned the win Wednesday, allowing one hit and one walk while holding the Phillies scoreless over two-thirds of an inning.

After Edwin Diaz (hip) left the game with one out in the 10th inning, Kranick was forced into action and immediately found himself in a bases-loaded jam. The right-hander induced a pair of short flyouts, keeping New York's deficit at one, before the Mets scored twice in the bottom of the frame, giving Kranick his second win this year. The 27-year-old Kranick has been a revelation out of the bullpen, posting a 2.81 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB through his first 16 innings this season.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Returns to majors

The Mets recalled Kranick from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.

Kranick was just optioned to Syracuse on Wednesday, but the plan was always to bring him back a day later once Jose Siri (leg) officially went on the 10-day injured list. The 27-year-old Kranick has been one of the Mets' best relievers this season, permitting two runs with a 7:1 K:BB over 11.2 innings.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Optioned to Triple-A

The Mets optioned Kranick to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

Kranick was unscored upon in his first six relief appearances this season but allowed two runs over 1.2 frames in Tuesday's game versus the Twins. The Mets have not yet placed Jose Siri (leg) on the 10-day injured list, so Kranick could be recalled once that move is officially made.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Makes bullpen after stellar spring

Kranick will be part of the Mets' bullpen on Opening Day, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Kranick had a dominant Grapefruit League showing, permitting only two runs with a 15:1 K:BB over 12.1 innings. The 27-year-old's stuff has played up since he switched to relief, and he could work his way into a high-leverage role for the Mets.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Making case for bullpen spot

Kranick has posted a 7:0 K:BB over 6.1 scoreless innings through his first three Grapefruit League appearances, and Will Sammon of The Athletic reports that Kranick could be putting himself into position to win a spot in the Mets' Opening Day bullpen.

The 27-year-old righty appeared to be on the outside looking in for a spot on the 26-man roster, but the Mets waived Sean Reid-Foley on Tuesday, and neither Dedniel Nunez (elbow) nor A.J. Minter (hip) are guaranteed to be ready for Opening Day. Kranick hit 98 mph with his fastball out of the bullpen at Triple-A Syracuse last year, and his sweeper has drawn raves from scouts. He could provide New York with a long-relief option to begin the campaign.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Added to roster

The Mets selected Kranick's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Kranick was booted off the Mets' 40-man roster back in May and has yet to pitch for them at the major-league level. However, the club has elected to add him to its roster for the wild-card series against the Brewers in a long-relief role. Kranick posted a 3.82 ERA and 64:24 K:BB over 70.2 innings this season at Syracuse.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Mets outrighted Kranick to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander cleared waivers after the Mets designated him for assignment Monday, and he'll now stick around in the organization as rotation depth at the Triple-A level. The 26-year-old has made two starts with Syracuse this season, producing a 2.57 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with two strikeouts over seven innings.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Removed from 40-man roster

The Mets designated Kranick for assignment Monday.

He'll give up his spot on the 40-man roster to right-hander Yohan Ramirez, who was claimed off waivers from the Orioles on Monday. Kranick has allowed four runs (two earned) with a 2:4 K:BB in seven innings with Triple-A Syracuse this season.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Activated, optioned to Triple-A

The Mets reinstated Kranick (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Kranick has been on the injured list since the start of the season due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain he suffered during spring training. He made four total rehab appearances between the Mets' Single-A and Double-A affiliates, allowing five earned runs across 7.2 innings, and he'll now move up to Triple-A as he comes off the IL. The 26-year-old right-hander owns a 5.56 ERA across 43.2 big-league innings and hasn't pitched in the majors since 2022.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Starts rehab assignment

Kranick (hamstring) began a rehab assignment with Low-A St. Lucie on Sunday.

Kranick wasn't able to get through his scheduled inning of work, getting pulled after recording two outs following two hits and a walk. How many more rehab appearances he requires figures to depend on whether the Mets plan to stretch him out as a starter. Kranick also has options remaining, so he's not a given to join the big club once activated.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Heads to IL

The Mets placed Kranick (hamstring) on the 15-day injured list Thursday.

Kranick is recovering from a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, which he sustained in his only Grapefruit League start back on Feb. 26. It's unclear where Kranick stands in his recovery at this point, but the injury cost him any chance he had of making a case for a back-end spot in the New York rotation. Kranick has a minor-league option remaining, so if the Mets want to have him stay stretched out as a starter, he could be sent to Triple-A Syracuse once he's reinstated from the IL.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Dealing with hamstring strain

Kranick was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Manager Carlos Mendoza said Kranick will be shut down for "a while" and will begin the regular season on the injured list. A clearer picture regarding Kranick's return timeline should emerge once he resumes throwing, but the 26-year-old right-hander is officially out of the race for an Opening Day rotation spot.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Makes early case for rotation spot

Kranick struck out two batters over two perfect innings in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals.

The 26-year-old didn't pitch in the majors at all last season while still in the Pirates' organization, but after being claimed off waivers by the Mets in January, Kranick has a chance to crack the big-league rotation. Monday's outing came against a Washington squad that featured most of its likely Opening Day lineup, but the right-hander will need to keep pitching well this spring to emerge from a pack of arms that includes Tylor Megill, Jose Butto and Joey Lucchesi and seize the fifth starter role.

  • Mets' Max Kranick: Getting look for fifth spot

Kranick will compete for the fifth spot in the Mets' rotation after the injury to Kodai Senga (shoulder), Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The Mets' preference is to not rush their top prospects, which leaves Kranick, Tylor Megill, Joey Lucchesi and Jose Butto battling for the right to fill in for Senga. Realistically, they might all be needed. Acquired via waivers last month, Kranick has held a 5.56 ERA and 36:22 K:BB across nine starts and two relief appearances at the big-league level.
