After missing last Monday night's game against Tennessee, Long was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday before logging a full session Friday. Anthony Walker will likely head back to the bench on defense with Long back in the lineup. Through three games, Long has 21 tackles (18 solo), including two TFLs.

Long was unable to practice all week due to a hamstring injury he suffered in Week 3 against the Seahawks. Long left Sunday's loss to the Seahawks early with the injury and clearly has yet to fully recover. Furones notes that according to head coach Mike McDaniel, Long is "doing absolutely everything he can for this opportunity" in reference to having a chance to play against his former Titans squad in a Week 4 Monday night matchup.

The Bills were able to run the ball frequently in a lopsided win, creating a healthy number of opportunities for tackles for Long. He continued to play essentially an every-down role in Week 2, and as long as he retains that role, he figures to carry some IDP value in most formats.

Dolphins' David Long: OK after injury
Long, who briefly left Sunday's 20-17 win over the Jaguars due to a hand injury, stated Monday that he is fine, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Long finished the day with eight tackles (seven solo) despite missing a few snaps with the injury. The veteran linebacker admitted his hand is "a little sore," but considering he was able to return to the game, it doesn't appear there will be any lingering effects with the injury. Long should be available for Thursday's divisional showdown with the Bills.

Long surpassed the 100-tackle mark for the first time in his five-year NFL career while also tallying his first first-ever sack as a pro during a Week 2 win over New England. The 2024 campaign will mark the final season of his two-year contract with Miami, but his cap hit will grow to a sizeable $6.7 million, and the team has a potential 'out' with only $2.2 million in dead money this offseason. Of course, given Long's career-best 2023 performance, both sides should have mutual agreement on remaining united.
