Saints' Taysom Hill: Handles rushing-centric role Week 1
Hill recorded five carries for 35 yards and caught one of his two targets for one yard during Sunday's 47-10 win versus the Panthers.
Hill worked as the Saints' secondary rushing option to start the game, logging a two-yard carry on their second play from scrimmage. The 34-year-old finished with four carries and one target in the first quarter, and his playing time dwindled as the game got out of hand down the stretch. Backup running back Jamaal Williams logged more carries (11), but most of his touches came later in the second half when the game was essentially decided. Hill's early usage in the rushing game Sunday is a likely indicator of what his role could be under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak this season. It will be worth monitoring if/how his deployment changes when New Orleans faces what should be a much tougher road matchup versus Dallas on Sunday, Sept. 15.

Saints' Taysom Hill: Gets work at RB
Hill rushed five times for 21 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the 49ers.
Hill has already proved himself worthy as both a quarterback and a tight end, but he appears to be putting a focus being a runner this year. On top of taking carries as a running back Sunday, the 34-year-old also served as a lead blocker while lined up as a fullback during the first three offensive series as well. This included his one-yard rushing touchdown on a fullback dive early in the second quarter. Gaining more roster flexibility is generally received well in fantasy, so Hill should be able to carve out a niche role for certain managers this campaign.

Saints' Taysom Hill: Could see increased touches Week 1
Multiple starting skill players for the Saints are dealing with lingering injuries, which could have Hill primed for a significant workload to start the regular season.
Starting tight end Juwan Johnson has yet to practice this training camp after undergoing foot surgery in mid-June, and it's unclear if he'll be able to play Week 1. Running backs Alvin Kamara (back) and Kendre Miller (hamstring) are also both currently sidelined with injuries. Hill's versatility on offense means he should be one of the first options to pick up the slack if any three of these players miss time this season. The 34-year-old has traditionally been featured at tight end and quarterback -- especially as a rushing quarterback in power formations. Comments from Saints coach Dennis Allen this offseason have emphasized that Hill once again be a key piece of the offense, though Allen has also been unsurprisingly vague when discussing just how he'll fit into the system for new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Hill's been spotted working more with the team's running backs and fullbacks during training camp and OTAs, suggesting that he could get even more usage in the backfield, and he also lined up at running back on one of his six snaps during last Saturday's preseason opener. Head coach Dennis Allen recently remarked Miller's extended absence could make it "challenging" for the second-year back to make the roster, according to Patrick Magee of the New Orleans Advocate, or at least hold a significant role early in the season. If that's the case, then Hill and fellow backup running back Jamaal Williams figure to step in as the team's No. 2 and No. 3 rushing options, respectively, to open the 2024 campaign.
