Cardinals' Joey Blount: Placed on IR due to rib injury
The Cardinals placed Blount (ribs) on injured reserve Monday.
Blount suffered a rib injury during the Cardinals' overtime loss to the Panthers in Week 16, which forced him to be sidelined during Saturday's 13-9 loss to the Rams. His placement on IR will end his 2024 campaign but will also open up a spot on the Cardinals' 53-man roster for the regular-season finale against the 49ers on Sunday. Blount mostly served on special teams in 2024 and will finish his third NFL regular season with five tackles (three solo) across 15 games.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Won't play against Rams
Head coach Jonathan Gannon said that Blount (ribs) won't play in Saturday's game against the Rams, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Blount was carted off the field after injuring his ribs during the Cardinals' 36-30 overtime loss to the Panthers this past Sunday. He's mostly served on special teams this season, so his absence won't impact the Cardinals' secondary rotation that much for Saturday's contest. Blount's next opportunity to play will come during Arizona's regular-season finale against San Francisco next weekend.

Blount suffered a hamstring injury in Week 6 against the Packers, but it doesn't appear to be serious since he has been a full practice participant this week. He has primarily played on special teams this year and has accumulated three tackles (one solo) through six regular-season games.

Blount sustained a shoulder injury during Saturday's 19-15 preseason loss to the Packers, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
Head coach Pete Carroll confirmed the injury following the game. Blount was tended to by trainers after being blocked at the end of a run by Packers quarterback Jordan Love.
