Savard ended an eight-game point drought when he helped out on Jayden Struble's second-period tally. The 34-year-old Savard also missed one game due to an injury in that span. Offense has never been his priority as a shutdown defender. He's doing fine with five assists, 12 shots on net, 52 blocked shots, 18 hits, 16 PIM and a minus-4 rating over 20 outings this season, playing mainly in a top-four role.

Savard has four assists, 17 hits and 45 blocks in 17 appearances with the Canadiens in 2024-25. Jayden Struble, who would have otherwise been a healthy scratch Saturday, is expected to play due to Savard's absence.

Savard set up Nick Suzuki's one-timer to the tie it up at 3-3 late in the second period. The blueliner was back on the scoresheet after having a three-game assist streak halted in Tuesday's ugly loss to the Kraken. On the ensuing faceoff following the Canadiens' first goal, Savard harmlessly sent the puck into the Predators' zone. While goalie Juuse Saros waited behind the net for it to circle around the boards, the disc took an odd bounce off the stanchion and directly into the net. Montreal wiped out Nashville's two-goal lead in six seconds. The goal was Savard's fifth in 40 games and his first in 22 contests.
