Roy's promotion comes as Owen Beck was sent down in a corresponding move. The 22-year-old Roy will join the Habs for their four-game road trip and could get into the lineup if Kirby Dach (lower body) and Patrik Laine (lower body) remain on the shelf. If either of that duo plays versus the Flames on Wednesday, it likely will mean Roy is playing the role of healthy scratch from the press box.

Roy scored two goals in AHL Laval's 5-2 win over Manitoba on Sunday.
Roy didn't hang around the Canadiens' camp as long as expected this fall, getting reassigned in late September. The 22-year-old will need to get himself back on track before he gets left behind as the big club works to integrate other prospects. Roy put up 35 points in 47 AHL regular-season games as well as two goals in 12 NHL outings with Montreal last year. He's already produced three goals through the first two minor-league contests this season.

Roy was one of the more notable cuts from camp after Saturday's game versus the Maple Leafs. The 22-year-old forward has earned 11 points over 35 regular-season games at the NHL level over the last two years, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him earn a call-up at some point in 2025-26.

Roy will be sidelined indefinitely due to an undisclosed injury, the team announced Wednesday.
Roy logged 12:21 of ice time against the Oilers on Tuesday and will travel back to Montreal for further evaluation. At a minimum, the 20-year-old center should be expected to be out of action for the next three games, though it certainly sounds like it could be longer.
