Capitals' Logan Thompson: Heads to Capital Hill in trade
Thompson has been traded to Washington from Las Vegas in exchange for two draft picks, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Washington's 2024 third-round pick and a 2025 third-rounder head to Vegas. Gasps of horror came from fans at the 2024 Entry Draft when the deal was announced. But for Thompson, the move catapults him into, at minimum, a platoon with Charlie Lindgren. The former will be the Caps 'tender of the future.

Golden Knights' Logan Thompson: Takes loss Monday
Thompson stopped 28 of 31 shots in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Stars in Game 4. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Thompson has now lost back-to-back starts, though it's hardly his fault after putting in solid efforts. The 27-year-old has given up 10 goals on 127 shots through four playoff contests. Thompson's status as the starting goalie in the playoffs could come into question if he doesn't get back into the win column soon, but it's unclear if head coach Bruce Cassidy will stay the course or turn to Adin Hill for Game 5 on Wednesday.

Golden Knights' Logan Thompson: Strong effort in overtime loss
Thompson allowed three goals on 46 shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Stars in Game 3.
Thompson's performance was a big reason the game got deep into overtime, as he came up with a handful of big saves against a desperate Stars team. It wasn't enough in the end, as Wyatt Johnston closed the scoring with a top-shelf goal in the extra session. Thompson has allowed seven goals on 96 shots while going 2-1 in the first-round series, and it's unlikely this loss will cost him the starting job. Game 4 is Monday in Vegas.

Thompson is expected to start at home in Game 3 against Dallas on Saturday, per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Thompson has helped Vegas win the opening two games of the first-round series by stopping 46 of 50 shots (.920 save percentage). That's part of a larger hot streak in which he's posted a 2.12 GAA and a .925 save percentage over his past 13 appearances. Dallas ranked third offensively in the regular season with 3.59 goals per contest, so the Stars shouldn't be taken lightly, even after being defeated by Vegas twice.

He gave up only a power-play goal to Jason Robertson in the first period of this one, with the Golden Knights scoring the next three tallies for the win. Thompson has allowed seven goals during his four-game winning streak. At this point, the 27-year-old looks to have the starting role locked down, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him get the nod for Saturday's Game 3 back in Vegas.
