Brewers' Dallas Keuchel: Struggles in MIL debut
Keuchel didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Texas, allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk across four innings. He struck out four.
Keuchel was acquired from the Mariners' minor-league system earlier this week and was immediately brought up for Wednesday's start. However, he had issues limiting power in his first MLB appearance of 2024, surrendering back-to-back home runs to Nathaniel Lowe and Jonah Heim in the fourth inning. While Wednesday's outing didn't do much to inspire confidence, fantasy managers should have some patience with the former Cy Young winner considering Milwaukee's proficiency in pitcher development. If Keuchel gets another start, it'd likely come during a four-game road series in Colorado early next week.

Brewers' Dallas Keuchel: Activated, will start Wednesday
The Brewers officially added Keuchel to the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Rangers, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Just one day after he was acquired from the Mariners, Keuchel will join the big club and will make his 2024 MLB debut for the seventh different team of his career. The 36-year-old southpaw made 13 starts in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League with Triple-A Tacoma this season, logging a 3.93 ERA and 1.21 WHIP but striking out just 15.6 percent of the batters he faced over 71 innings. Though Milwaukee will likely give Keuchel another start beyond Wednesday to stake a claim to a more permanent spot in the big-league rotation, his pitch-to-contact ways and lack of success in the majors in recent seasons make it difficult to rely on him as a streaming option in fantasy.

Brewers' Dallas Keuchel: Joining rotation Wednesday
The Brewers plan to add Keuchel to the roster and have him start Wednesday's game against the Rangers at American Family Field, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Shortly after Keuchel was acquired from the Mariners on Tuesday, Brewers manager Pat Murphy indicated that the veteran southpaw wasn't viewed merely as organizational depth at the Triple-A level. Keuchel will thus be put to work right away with the big club, slotting in as the team's new No. 5 starter after Carlos F. Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday. The Brewers will make an official roster move prior to Wednesday's 2:10 p.m. ET to activate Keuchel, a two-time All-Star who has seen big-league action with five different teams since leaving the Astros following the 2018 season. Keuchel owns an ugly 6.29 ERA over 260.1 big-league innings dating back to the start of the 2021 campaign, but he had been pitching effectively in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League over 13 starts at Triple-A Tacoma this season (3.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP in 71 innings) prior to joining the Brewers.

Brewers' Dallas Keuchel: Traded to Milwaukee
The Brewers acquired Keuchel from the Mariners on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations, Mark Feinsand of MLB.comreports.
The 36-year-old joined the Mariners on a minor-league contract in early April and pitched well at Triple-A Tacoma with a 3.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 45:22 K:BB over 71 innings (13 starts). Milwaukee has dealt with numerous injuries to its rotation this season, and Keuchel will provide organizational depth for a depleted position group. He'll likely report to Triple-A Nashville but could quickly earn a call to the big leagues.

Dallas Keuchel: Released from minor-league deal
The Mariners released Keuchel on Monday.
It's not clear whether this was the Mariners' call or Keuchel exercised an opt-out clause in his minor-league contract. The veteran left-hander made seven starts with Triple-A Tacoma, posting a 4.74 ERA and 19:10 K:BB over 38 innings. Keuchel, 36, held a 5.97 ERA in 37.2 frames for the Twins in 2023.

Mariners' Dallas Keuchel: Could get call to majors soon
Keuchel, who fired five scoreless innings for Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday during which he allowed three hits and recorded three strikeouts, could be a candidate to temporarily fill the No. 5 spot in the Mariners' starting rotation, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
The veteran left-hander's Rainiers debut against the Bees certainly impressed, with Keuchel throwing 44 of 62 pitches for strikes. Drayer points out that with Emerson Hancock having been hit hard by the Brewers in Sunday's start and also showing decreased velocity compared to his early Cactus League outings, a decision could be made to skip his next turn in the rotation. The pitcher Hancock is currently filling in for, Bryan Woo (elbow), may not be fully ready to return when Seattle next needs a No. 5 starter April 16, leading to speculation Keuchel could be a candidate for a temporary promotion given there is an open spot on the 40-man roster for him as well.

Mariners' Dallas Keuchel: Signs minors deal with M's
Keuchel signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Tuesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Keuchel spent last season with the Twins, posting a 5.97 ERA and 1.67 WHIP across 37.2 innings in the majors. The 36-year-old lefty will now look to get back to the majors with Seattle, but he is unlikely to make an impact if he appears for the Mariners after recording an ERA north of 5.00 in each of the past three seasons.

Twins' Dallas Keuchel: Ends season on shelf
Keuchel was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with an undisclosed injury, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Jorge Alcala will take Keuchel's place in the Twins' bullpen. Keuchel may not be dealing with anything serious, but given that he posted an 8.24 ERA and 1.88 WHIP in his last 19.2 innings, it makes sense that he wouldn't be in the mix for a spot on the postseason roster.

Twins' Dallas Keuchel: Shifting to relief role
Manager Rocco Baldelli said Saturday that Keuchel isn't in line to make another start and has been moved to the bullpen, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Keuchel made his sixth start of the season Wednesday, giving up four runs on six hits and three walks over four innings in a no-decision against the Rays. With the veteran southpaw now sporting a 5.34 ERA and 1.52 WHIP through 30.1 innings with the big club this season, he'll cede his spot in the rotation to Bailey Ober, who will stick around in a starting role after limiting the White Sox to two runs over five innings Friday against the White Sox after being recalled from Triple-A St. Paul. Keuchel could be available to make his first appearance out of the bullpen as soon as Sunday.

Most of the damage against Keuchel came in the second inning when the lefty allowed a leadoff triple to Curtis Mead to open the frame. The veteran would only make it through four innings while issuing multiple walks for the fifth time in seven starts this season. Keuchel had allowed two earned runs or fewer in three of his last four starts coming in, though he's now been hit with no-decisions in each of his last four outings.

Keuchel rebounded well after being tagged for five runs by the Rangers in his last outing. The only damage against him Friday came from Francisco Lindor's two-run double in the fourth inning. Keuchel set a season high with six punchouts and now owns a 14:9 K:BB and a 4.78 ERA through 26.1 MLB frames. He's lined up to face the Rays at home next week.

Twins' Dallas Keuchel: Hit hard by Texas
Keuchel allowed five runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two batters over 3.1 innings in a no-decision against the Rangers on Saturday.
Four of the five hits given up by Keuchel went for extra bases, including two-run homers by Adolis Garcia and Sam Huff. The veteran southpaw came into the contest having pitched 18 innings without surrendering a long ball on the season. Keuchel got the start after working in a piggyback role his last time out, but it's uncertain if he'll remain in the rotation moving forward. He's posted a 5.06 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 8:7 K:BB across 21.1 frames on the campaign.

Twins' Dallas Keuchel: Rejoining rotation
Keuchel will re-enter the Minnesota rotation after Bailey Ober was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Ober has struggled in the second half and the Twins have sent him down to the minors both for performance- and workload-related reasons. With Ober out of the picture, Keuchel -- who hasn't allowed a run in his last two appearances (one start) -- will get a longer look as the Twins' No. 5 starter. The veteran left-hander is tentatively lined up to start Sunday in Arlington against the Rangers.

Twins' Dallas Keuchel: Piggybacks Bailey Ober on Sunday
Keuchel tossed five scoreless frames of long relief Sunday in the Twins' 7-6 win over the Rangers in 13 innings, striking out three while scattering five hits and two walks.
After starting in each of his first three appearances with Minnesota, Keuchel ended up shifting to the bullpen to close out the weekend with the Twins bringing back Joe Ryan from the injured list Saturday. Though it may not have been manager Rocco Baldelli's plan heading into Sunday's contest, Keuchel ended up piggybacking starter Bailey Ober, who tossed just four innings before being lifted for what appeared to be performance-related reasons. After Ober put the Twins in a 5-0 hole heading into the fifth inning, Keuchel stepped and kept the Rangers off the board while the Twins rallied for four runs in the sixth and one run in the ninth to send the game to extras. Baldelli has yet to comment on Keuchel's role moving forward, but it's possible the veteran lefty gets another look as a starter as part of a six-man rotation on the heels of the stellar long-relief outing.

Twins' Dallas Keuchel: Role uncertain with Ryan returning
Keuchel isn't scheduled to start either of the Twins' final two games with the Rangers this weekend but could be available out of the bullpen, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "There are a few different scenarios, but not really any one scenario that I'm going to sit here and announce because, frankly, I am not 100 percent sure," manager Rocco Baldelli said of Keuchel's role moving forward.
The Twins will welcome Joe Ryan (groin) back from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday's game, bringing the Minnesota rotation back to full strength. After getting called up from Triple-A St. Paul earlier this month, Keuchel was expected to have only a short-term stay with the club, but he made a case for the Twins keeping him around as part of a six-man rotation. Though Keuchel failed to escape the second inning in his second start with the Twins on Aug. 11 in Philadelphia, he rebounded nicely his last time out this past Sunday versus the Pirates, carrying a perfect game through 6.1 innings while striking out three. Keuchel said that he's been throwing shorter bullpen sessions to stay prepared for a potential move to a relief role, but if he ends up going unused behind Ryan on Saturday or Bailey Ober on Sunday, it could be an indication the Twins plan to have him make a start during next week's series with the Guardians.

Twins' Dallas Keuchel: Carries perfecto into seventh
Keuchel (1-1) earned the win Sunday, allowing one hit and zero walks over 6.1 scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Pirates. He struck out three.
Keuchel had not allowed a baserunner through six, then was removed with one out in the seventh after Bryan Reynolds broke up the perfect game with a double. Keuchel, making just his third start for the Twins since initially inking a minor-league deal in June, threw a season-high 85 pitches and recorded his first three strikeouts of the campaign. Prior to joining the Twins, Keuchel had recorded a 1.13 ERA over 32 innings in Triple-A, hinting that the 2015 Cy Young award winner may still have something to offer. He'll face a much stiffer test in his next projected start during a weekend series at home against the Rangers.

Twins' Dallas Keuchel: Chased early by Phils
Keuchel (0-1) took the loss Friday, coughing up six runs on six hits and two walks over 1.2 innings in a 13-2 rout at the hands of the Phillies. He failed to strike out a batter.
After a promising first start for the Twins, Keuchel reverted back to being the pitcher who posted a 9.20 ERA in 60.1 innings last season. The 35-year-old southpaw managed to escape the first inning unscathed thanks to a double play, but the first five Phillies to come to the plate in the second reached base, including back-to-back doubles by Nick Castellanos and Bryson Stott to lead off the frame. Minnesota is hoping to get Joe Ryan (groin) back soon and the team has off days coming up Monday and Thursday which would allow it to go with a four-man rotation. If Keuchel does make another start, it would likely come at home next weekend against the Pirates.
