Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Out at least one month
The Cubs placed Taillon on the 15-day injured list Friday due to a right calf strain, and manager Craig Counsell said the right-hander is expected to be sidelined over a month, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
It's unclear when exactly Taillon sustained the injury, but he surrendered 15 runs, including six homers, over his last three starts and failed to last five innings in any of them. The 33-year-old will be unavailable through at least the end of July but could be out longer, depending how his rehab progresses. Jordan Wicks was recalled from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move and should be in the mix to enter Chicago's starting rotation, as is Chris Flexen.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Labors in loss
Taillon (7-6) took the loss Sunday against Houston, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.
Taillon couldn't complete five innings Sunday, as the Astros worked him up to 107 pitches before a two-run home run by Jose Altuve prompted manager Craig Counsell to pull Taillon. Taillon has surrendered six home runs in his last three starts, going 0-3 with a 10.66 ERA and nine strikeouts over 12.2 innings during that stretch. He'll look to get back on track against the Cardinals next weekend.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Plagued by long ball again
Taillon (7-5) took the loss Tuesday against the Cardinals, giving up eight runs on eight hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out three.
Five of Taillon's eight hits allowed went for extra bases, with three of them leaving the yard, and he leads the National League with 21 home runs allowed in 2025. The veteran right-hander yielded a season-high eight runs, and he's now surrendered 13 over his last two outings on the heels of rattling off six quality starts in a row prior to this recent downturn. Taillon still holds a respectable 4.47 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 70:19 K:BB across 90.2 innings, but things don't figure to get much easier in his next scheduled appearance against an Astros club that entered Tuesday batting an MLB-best .276 since May 22.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Struggles early in loss
Taillon (7-4) took the loss against the Brewers on Thursday, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk with two strikeouts over four innings.
Taillon allowed five runs over his first three innings Thursday, snapping a five-game win streak that dated back to May 20. While the 33-year-old has delivered 10 quality starts in 15 outings this season, he now leads the National League with 18 home runs allowed after surrendering two more in this one. He owns a 3.84 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 67:17 K:BB across 86.2 innings and will look to rebound in a road matchup with the Cardinals next week.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Cubs-Brewers rained out
Taillon and the Cubs won't face the Brewers on Wednesday after the game was postponed due to rain in Chicago, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Chicago and Milwaukee will play a doubleheader Aug. 18 to make up for Wednesday's game. Taillon's next outing will be pushed back to Thursday's series finale, during which he'll be looking to record his sixth consecutive win.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Extends streak of quality starts
Taillon (7-3) recorded the win Thursday against the Pirates after giving up two runs on four hits and two walks in 6.1 innings. He struck out seven.
Taillon extended his streak of quality starts to six, and it was also his eighth such effort in his last nine outings. The 33-year-old right-hander has yielded greater than three runs on just two occasions this year, and he also tied his season high in punchouts Thursday. Taillon holds a steady 3.48 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 65:16 K:BB across 82.2 innings ahead of his next appearance, which is set to come versus a Brewers team that's batting a paltry .218 against righties since the start of May.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Sharp in sixth win
Taillon (6-3) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over seven innings in a 6-1 victory over the Tigers. He struck out five.
The right-hander needed only 84 pitches (56 strikes) to deliver his fifth straight quality start, and his ninth in 13 trips to the mound this year. Taillon will take a four-start win streak into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Pirates.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Another quality start
Taillon (5-3) picked up the win Sunday against Cincinnati, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out two.
All of the damage against Taillon came in the sixth inning when Elly De La Cruz lifted a two-run home run. Still, Taillon notched his fourth consecutive quality start and his eighth of the campaign. In his last four appearances, Taillon has logged a 2.45 ERA and an 18:4 K:BB across 25.2 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Tigers in Detroit next weekend.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Fans seven in fourth win
Taillon (4-3) earned the win Monday against the Rockies, allowing one run on four hits and no walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out seven.
The Chicago right-hander took care of business against a Colorado lineup that entered the contest with a league-worst .220 team batting average. The only blemish on Taillon's performance was a solo homer yielded to Mickey Moniak in the fifth. Through 63 total innings, Taillon has pitched to a 3.86 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 51:12 K:BB. He is currently scheduled to make his next start against Cincinnati at home this weekend.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Cruises to third win
Taillon (3-3) picked up the win in Tuesday's 14-1 rout of the Marlins, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out two.
A solo shot by Nick Fortes in the third inning was the only blemish on Taillon's line, as he delivered his second straight quality start against Miami and his sixth of the season in 10 trips to the mound. Keeping the ball in the yard remains a serious concern for the right-hander, however -- he's served up nine homers in his last four starts, fueling a 4.30 ERA over that stretch despite a 1.09 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB in 23 innings. Taillon gets a soft matchup for his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Rockies.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Yields three homers to Marlins
Taillon (2-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Marlins, allowing three runs on four hits and no walks with seven strikeouts over six innings.
Taillon surrendered four home runs in his previous start and couldn't keep the ball inside the park once again Wednesday. Three of the four hits he allowed to the Marlins were long balls, with Kyle Stowers hitting two and Agustin Ramirez accounting for one. Though Taillon hadn't yielded multiple home runs since his season debut before this stretch, he's been tagged for a homer in all but two starts this year. Over 49.2 innings, he owns a 4.53 ERA and a 42:9 K:BB. Taillon will look to get back on track in his next start, which is scheduled to be a rematch with Miami next week.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Can't keep ball in park Friday
Taillon (2-2) took the loss Friday, coughing up six runs (five earned) on nine hits -- including four home runs -- and a walk over four innings as the Cubs were downed 7-2 by the Mets. He struck out four.
Francisco Lindor drove the third pitch he saw from Taillon into the right-field bullpen area at Citi Field to lead off the bottom of the first inning, setting the tone for the night. The veteran right-hander came into Friday having served up just six homers in his first seven starts of the season, while the outing snapped a streak of six straight outings in which he'd given up three runs or fewer. The stumble leaves Taillon with a 4.53 ERA despite a 1.17 WHIP and 35:9 K:BB through 43.2 innings, and he'll look to get back on track in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next week against the Marlins.

Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Grabs win with quality start
Taillon (2-1) earned the win Saturday in Milwaukee after giving up two runs on three hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out five.
The veteran right-hander wasn't exactly dominant as he induced just four swinging strikes, but he delivered his second straight quality start to help secure his first victory since April 2. Taillon surrendered six earned runs during his season debut in Arizona, but he's posted a 2.80 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB in 35.1 innings across his past six outings.
