  • Angels' Luis Rengifo: Two RBI in return

Rengifo (wrist) went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Mariners.

Rengifo returned to the lineup for the first time since July 3 and provided a clutch piece of hitting with a two-run single in the fifth to extend the Angels' lead to 5-0. Though he missed some time with a wrist injury, Rengifo has 12 hits and seven RBI over his last eight games and is slashing .314/.357/.439 with six homers, 27 RBI, 36 runs, 22 steals and a 13:36 BB:K in 273 plate appearances this season. His power numbers are down compared to his past two years (33 homers combined), but he's on pace for a career high in average and his 22 steals are more than what he accumulated over his previous five seasons combined (18).

  • Angels' Luis Rengifo: Activated, batting second Tuesday

The Angels reinstated Rengifo (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Rengifo has been out of action for nearly three weeks due to right wrist inflammation, and he'll now serve as the Angels' DH in his first game back from the IL. Prior to getting injured, the 27-year-old slashed .315/.358/.442 with six homers and 25 RBI while swiping 22 bags in 69 games. Keston Hiura was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Angels' Luis Rengifo: Set to return Tuesday

Rengifo (wrist) is expected be reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

The switch-hitting utility man has been sidelined since early July due to wrist inflammation, but he recently resumed full baseball activities and is on the cusp of rejoining the active roster. Rengifo has a .315/.358/.442 slash line with six homers and 22 steals through 69 games this season, and he'll be a popular name in trade rumors with the Angels being one of a handful of teams that are clear sellers ahead of next week's deadline.

  • Angels' Luis Rengifo: Nearing activation

Rengifo (wrist) said Monday that he is taking part in full baseball activities and could be activated as soon as Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Rengifo resumed baseball activities Friday after being placed on the 10-day injured list July 5 with right wrist inflammation, and he now appears to be on the cusp of returning to the lineup. The Angels will launch a three-game series in Seattle on Monday night and it's possible he is activated from the IL prior to the end of the series.

  • Angels' Luis Rengifo: Resumes baseball activity

Rengifo (wrist) began throwing, fielding groundballs and hitting off a tee Friday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Rengifo landed on the injured list July 5 due to right wrist inflammation, and the increased activity is a good indication that he'll be back in action soon. It remains unclear if the Angels will send him for a brief rehab assignment before reinstating him from the IL.

  • Angels' Luis Rengifo: Goes on IL with wrist inflammation

The Angels placed Rengifo on the 10-day injured list Friday with right wrist inflammation.

It appears an MRI cleared Rengifo of any structural damage in the wrist, but with the All-Star break looming, the Angels have opted to go ahead and put the super utility player on the IL. Rengifo will be eligible for activation on July 14, the last day of the first half, but realistically he'll probably be held out at least through the break. He had been seeing most of his playing time lately at third base, and that position now figures to be occupied mostly by Miguel Sano.

Rengifo (wrist) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Cubs, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

The Angels are still waiting on the results of an MRI on Rengifo's wrist, which he injured during Wednesday's game against the Athletics. He's currently listed as a reserve on the team's lineup card, but Keston Hiura has been added to the taxi squad and could replace Rengifo on the active roster, depending on the latter's test results.
