The Orlando Magic claimed Willie Green off waivers on Monday, the team announced in a statement. The shooting guard was released by the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
Green will make $1.4 million next season, and he will provide Orlando with a veteran leader. He has long been lauded for his professionalism regardless of how many minutes he's played. The Magic just traded Arron Afflalo and waived Jameer Nelson, and might very well release Jason Maxiell and Ronnie Price. All the young guys are going to need someone who has experience in the locker room.
The 11-year vet averaged 5.0 points and 1.4 rebounds per game for the Clippers last season, shooting 38 percent from the field and 34 percent from the three-point line.
