  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Returns to Dallas

Morris agreed to a contract with the Mavericks on Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Morris spent the 2023-24 campaign with Dallas, appearing in 26 games (one start) and averaging 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds across 8.3 minutes. With Naji Marshall replacing Derrick Jones and the rest of the Mavs frontcourt sticking around, Morris will likely be a fringe rotation piece in 2024-25.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Sees extended minutes

Morris chipped in two points (1-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt), two rebounds and one block across 14 minutes during Friday's 107-89 loss to the Pistons. Morris tied his third-highest minutes total of the season during Friday's matchup due to Kyrie Irving (hamstring) and Luka Doncic (ankle) sitting out. With most of Dallas' starters sitting out Sunday, Morris could continue to receive extended action against Oklahoma City.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Sees floor in blowout win

Morris produced two points (1-1 FG) across five minutes during Monday's 127-92 win over the Bulls. The 34-year-old has struggled to garner a consistent role all season, appearing in just seven contests since Jan. 1 and averaging 2.3 points and 0.9 rebounds in 5.7 minutes. Anticipate Morris' lack of minutes to continue buried behind P.J. Washington, Derrick Jones, Josh Green and Maxi Kleber.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Returning to action Sunday

Morris (illness) is available for Sunday's game against Minnesota, Mark Followill of Bally Sports Southwest reports. Morris will return to the court following a one-game absence due to a non-COVID illness. However, he's been an inconsistent part of the team's rotation this year.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Questionable for Sunday

Morris (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Timberwolves. Morris is in danger of missing his second straight game due to a non-COVID illness. However, the veteran forward has been an inconsistent part of Dallas' rotation, even when healthy.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Won't play Friday

Morris (illness) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Trail Blazers, Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com reports. Morris' absence shouldn't impact Dallas' rotation, as he's appeared in just two of the last seven games. His next chance to suit up will come Sunday versus Minnesota.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Dealing with illness

Morris is questionable for Friday's game against Portland due to an illness, Grant Afseth of SI.com reports. Morris has appeared in just two of the Mavericks' last seven contests, so his potential absence shouldn't impact fantasy. During Wednesday's blowout win over Portland, Morris played double-digit minutes for the first time since Dec. 22.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Rare appearance in win

Morris totaled three points (1-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 12 minutes during Wednesday's 126-97 win over the Trail Blazers. Morris cracked the rotation for just the second time in the past seven games, called upon as the Mavericks ran away with the victory. Given he is outside the top 400 in fantasy this season, managers can rest assured he is not worth considering, even in the deepest of leagues.

Morris will head back to the bench for Saturday's game against the Spurs. The Mavericks are still without Dereck Lively (ankle), but they will deploy a smaller frontcourt featuring Grant Williams and Derrick Jones. Morris was quiet in a spot start Friday, scoring four points with two rebounds in 12 minutes.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Making first start as Maverick

Morris is part of the first unit for Friday's game against the Rockets. After entering the Dallas rotation in December amidst the absences of Maxi Kleber (toe), Josh Green (elbow) and most recently Dereck Lively (ankle), Morris will make his first start of the season. Over his last five appearances, he is averaging 2.8 points and 2.6 rebounds over 11.5 minutes.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Fails to score in five minutes

Morris ended with zero points (0-1 FG) and two rebounds across five minutes during Wednesday's 120-111 loss to the Clippers. Morris continues to see minutes for the Mavericks despite the fact he has minimal upside. Now aged 34, Morris is well outside the top 300 this season, making him a non-factor even in the deepest of fantasy leagues.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Iffy for Sunday

The Mavericks list Morris (non-COVID-19-related illness) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Hornets. Morris missed Friday's 125-114 loss to the Nuggets with the illness, but the Mavericks will wait and see how he feels closer to Sunday's 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff before determining if he'll be available. The veteran forward hasn't been part of the Mavericks' rotation all season and likely won't be featured on the second unit even if he's cleared in advance of the opening tip.

Morris is questionable for Friday's game against the Nuggets due to a non-COVID illness. Morris has yet to see any game action, so his potential absence wouldn't have much of an impact on Dallas' rotation. However, if he's cleared, Morris could actually see some playing time, as Maxi Kleber (toe) has been downgraded to out.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Set to stay with Dallas

Morris is expected to re-sign with Dallas on Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. The Mavericks acquired Morris from Brooklyn in February, but he hardly saw any playing time for Dallas, averaging just 4.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 8.6 minutes across eight appearances. Dallas retained Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber this summer and added Grant Williams (hand), Richaun Holmes, Dereck Lively and Derrick Jones to its frontcourt, so it's unclear where the veteran will fit in upon re-upping with the Mavericks.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Draws start in finale

Morris will start Sunday's game against the Spurs. With Dallas out of the playoff picture, Morris slides into the starting lineup and will be joined by Theo Pinson, Frank Ntilikina, Jaden Hardy and Davis Bertans. In his lone start this season, Morris posted 15 points and 11 rebounds in 32 minutes.

  • Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Plays for first time in two weeks

Morris (knee) played 11 minutes in Monday's 127-104 win over the Pacers, recording three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and two assists. Morris made his first appearance off the bench since March 13, with his two-week absence partially the result of a knee injury and partially the result of him not being included in head coach Jason Kidd's rotation. Maxi Kleber (hamstring) sat out Monday, but because he was believed to be sidelined for maintenance purposes more than anything, he could be back in action Wednesday in Philadelphia. If that's the case, Morris could find himself right back out of Kidd's rotation once again.
