2024 NFL schedule: Thanksgiving and Christmas matchups, Thursday and Monday prime-time games analysis and more

The leaks are over, the 2024 NFL schedule has been released!

Now that we have the full 272-game regular season schedule, here are a few highlights:

  • Chiefs will host Ravens in NFL opener. Kansas City will be kicking off the 2024 season by hosting Baltimore in a rematch of the 2023 AFC title game.
  • Chiefs will play on six of the seven days of the week. The only day of the week that won't have a Chiefs game this year is Tuesday. Thanks to their Black Friday game against the Raiders and their Wednesday Christmas game against the Steelers, Kansas City will have at least one game on six different days.
  • The annual triple-header on Thanksgiving Day will open with the Bears at Lions followed by Giants at Cowboys. The Dolphins will then travel to Green Bay for the Turkey Day nightcap.
  • The NFL is also giving us a doubleheader on Christmas Day. Not only will the Chiefs be facing the Steelers in a 1 p.m. ET game on Dec. 25, but the NFL is also giving us a 4:30 p.m. ET game where the Texans will be hosting the Ravens.
  • Tom Brady's first game as a broadcaster will be in Cleveland. Brady will be taking over the No. 1 announcing job with Fox this year and his first game will be coming on Sunday, Sept. 8 when the Browns host the Cowboys.

If you want to know more about your favorite team's schedule, be sure to join us on CBS Sports HQ on Thursday night, because we'll be breaking down everything you need to know about the schedule until midnight. You can find the link for our coverage by clicking here

And now, we've got the Bengals' schedule.

One good thing for the Bengals: The Bengals have a chance to get off to a hot start with games against the Patriots, Commanders and Panthers in the month of September, which means they'll be facing three new head coaches who will be trying to get their feet wet with their new team. Although they will have to face the Chiefs in Week 2, they've had success against Kansas City -- going 3-1 with Joe Burrow -- so a 4-0 opening month might be possible.

One bad thing for the Bengals: In three of their toughest games, the Bengals' opponent will get at least 10 days of rest before facing Cincinnati. The Chiefs get 10 days before facing the Bengals in Week 2 while the Steelers will get 10 days before facing the Bengals in Week 13 and could get 11 days of rest before facing the Bengals in Week 18.

Let's move on to the Browns.

One good thing for the Browns: The Browns went 8-1 at home last season they're likely very happy with the fact that they'll go more than a month without leaving Cleveland. From Week 7 thru Week 10, the Browns have three straight home games and a bye, which means they won't leave Cleveland from Oct. 14 thru Nov. 16.

One bad thing for the Browns: If the Browns are in playoff contention going into December, they might end up fading down the stretch and that's because they're final five games are brutal. Cleveland will close the season with games against the Steelers (away), Chiefs, Bengals (away), Dolphins and Ravens (away).

The 2024 Browns' schedule

Alright, it's 8 p.m. ET! THE 2024 NFL SCHEDULE IS OUT, so let's start breaking it down and we're going to start in the AFC North with the Steelers.

One good thing for the Steelers: The steelers get to start off the season by playing three straight games against teams that all finished under .500 last year (Falcons, Broncos, Chargers) and they're going to need to take advantage of that by getting off to a quick start because the second half of their schedule is ugly.

One bad thing for the Steelers: The backend of the Steelers' schedule is almost unfair. From Week 11 thru Week 18, the Steelers will play eight straight games against teams that finished last season with a winning record (Ravens, at Browns, at Bengals, Browns, at Eagles, at Ravens, Chiefs, Bengals). This stretch includes a span of three games in 10 days where they'll face the Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs from Dec. 15 thru 25.

The backend of the Steelers schedule is brutal.

Alright, we are now just 20 minutes away from the release of the 2024 schedule and once it drops, here's how things are going to work: I'm going to go through each team's individual schedule and give you one good thing and one bad thing, so make sure to check back in at 8 p.m. ET sharp.

If you don't feel like scrolling all the way down this live blog to see every leak that I've shared, I have some good news: We have a running list of all the leaks going and you can see that by clicking here

Finally, we've got the Week 18 leaks.

Saturday, Jan. 4 or Sunday, Jan. 5

Note: There are no Thursday or Monday games in Week 18. All games will be played on Sunday except for two that will be flexed into ESPN's Saturday night doubleheader.

Speaking of Christmas, here are the leaks we've tracked down for Week 17. The two Wednesday games have already been officially announced by the NFL

Wednesday, Dec. 25 (Christmas)

  • Chiefs at Steelers, 1 p.m. ET (Netflix)
  • Ravens at Texans, 4:30 p.m. ET (Netflix)

Thursday, Dec. 26

  • Seahawks at Bears, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Saturday, Dec. 28

  • TBA

Sunday, Dec. 29

  • Jets at Bills (source)
  • Cowboys at Eagles (source)
  • Raiders at Saints (source)
  • Packers at Vikings (source)
  • Broncos at Bengals (source) -- Saturday or Sunday
  • Falcons at Commanders (source) -- Saturday or Sunday
  • Dolphins at Browns, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC) (source)

Week 17 note: At least two Sunday games will be flexed to Saturday.

Monday, Dec. 30

  • Lions at 49ers, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) (source)

Alright, we're not to the Week 16 leaks and Week 16 is interesting because the NFL added a small twist. To make the Wednesday Christmas games work in Week 17, the NFL had to make the four Christmas teams play on Saturday in Week 16, which is how you get the schedule below.

Thursday, Dec. 19

  • Browns at Bengals, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Saturday, Dec. 21

  • Texans at Chiefs
  • Steelers at Ravens (source)

Sunday, Dec. 22

Monday, Dec. 23

  • Saints at Packers, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) (source)

Let's get to the Week 15 leaks! I think the most amazing thing about Week 15 is that we have the Falcons and Raiders on Monday night. I feel like there's only a 12% chance that BOTH teams will be good, so I'll just go ahead and predict now that we'll see that game get flexed out of MNF.

Thursday, Dec. 12

  • TBA at TBA, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime)

Sunday, Dec. 15

Monday, Dec. 16

  • Falcons at Raiders, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) (source)

With just 45 minutes to go until the release of the 2024 schedule, let's get to the Week 14 leaks. The Packers and Lions will be both be playing on Thanksgiving (but not against each other) and then they'll follow that up with a Thursday game in Week 14.

Thursday, Dec. 5

  • Packers at Lions, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Sunday, Dec. 8

Monday, Dec. 9

  • TBA at TBA, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN)

If you're wondering what the Thanksgiving week schedule is going to look like in 2024, that's included in our Week 13 leaks. Also in Week 13, we have the Chiefs playing on Black Friday, which means they'll be playing at least one game on every day of the week this year, except for Tuesday.

Thursday, Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving)

  • Bears at Lions, 12:30 p.m. ET (CBS) (source)
  • Giants at Cowboys, 4:30 p.m. ET (Fox) (source)
  • Dolphins at Packers, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC) (source)

Friday, Nov. 29 (Black Friday)

  • Raiders at Chiefs, 3 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Sunday, Dec. 1

Monday, Dec. 2

  • Browns at Broncos, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) (source)

With one hour to go until the schedule release, let's check out our Week 12 leaks

Thursday, Nov. 21

  • Steelers at Browns, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Sunday, Nov. 24

Monday, Nov. 25

  • TBA at TBA, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Our Week 11 leaks includes the Battle for Texas with the Cowboys hosting the Texans on Monday night. I said it before and I'll say it again, that should be a "loser leaves Texas game." Spice that thing up. Although Houston-Dallas is fun, the headliner for Week 11 is probably Chiefs-Bills.

Let's check out the Week 11 leaks:

Thursday, Nov. 14

  • Commanders at Eagles, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Sunday, Nov. 17

  • Vikings at Titans (source)
  • Jaguars at Lions (source)
  • Browns at Saints (source)
  • Ravens at Steelers (source)
  • Packers at Bears (source)
  • Raiders at Dolphins  (source)
  • Chiefs at Bills, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS) (source
  • Colts at Jets, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC) (source)

Monday, Nov. 18

  • Texans at Cowboys, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) (source)

If our Week 10 leaks our correct, we have Mike McDaniel vs. Sean McVay on Monday night. The final score of that game might be 67-64.

Thursday, Nov. 7

  • TBA at TBA, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime)

Sunday, Nov. 10

  • Giants at Panthers, 9:30 a.m. ET -- Munich (NFL Network)
  • Jets at Cardinals (source)
  • Falcons at Saints (source)
  • Steelers at Commanders (source)
  • Eagles at Cowboys (source)
  • Vikings at Jaguars (source)
  • Patriots at Bears (source)
  • Lions at Texans, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC) (source)

Monday, Nov. 11

  • Dolphins at Rams, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) (source)

Now, let's move on to our Week 9 leaks. The biggest thing I want to point out from Week 9 is that we have a HALLOWEEN GAME THIS YEAR.

Thursday, Oct. 31

  • Texans at Jets, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Sunday, Nov. 3

  • Raiders at Bengals, 1 p.m. ET (source)
  • Chargers at Browns (source)
  • Colts at Vikings (source)
  • Saints at Panthers (source)
  • Dolphins at Bills, 1 p.m. ET (source)
  • Lions at Packers (source)
  • Commanders at Giants (source)
  • Bears at 49ers (source)
  • Jaguars at Eagles, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC) (source)

  • TBA at TBA, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Alright, we've made it through the first seven weeks of the season, so let's take a look at all the leaks we have for Week 8 so far:

Thursday, Oct. 24

  • Vikings at Rams, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Sunday, Oct. 27

Monday, Oct. 28

  • Giants at Steelers, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) (source)

Fun fact: The Eagles and Bengals have faced each other four times since 2008 and they've tied in TWO OF THOSE GAMES. Let's hope this one doesn't end in a tie.

And now, the entire Browns' schedule appears to have leaked out. Browns close season with consecutive games against: Steelers, Chiefs, Bengals, Dolphins and Ravens.

With two hours to go until the schedule release, we're seeing full schedules leak out left and right. Next up: It looks like the Dolphins schedule is out.

If you're trying to plan your fall around the Houston Texans schedule, it looks like most of it has leaked. Most notable thing I see right off the bat: Three primetime games in a row starting on Halloween.

The NFL definitely likes the Bills. Buffalo will play four of its first six games in PRIMETIME.

One other interesting nugget here: The Bills will face Stefon Diggs and the Texans in Week 5, but it WON'T be a prime-time game.

So it turns out that Brad Biggs just tweeted out the Bears' entire schedule (at least the parts that we didn't have yet), so here's a look at the entire thing:

WK1: TEN
WK2: at HOU (SNF)
WK3: at IND
WK4: LAR
WK5: CAR
WK6: vs. JAX (London)
WK7: BYE
WK8: at WASH
WK9: at SF
WK10: NE
WK11: GB
WK12: MIN
WK13: at DET
WK14: at AZ
WK15: at MIN
WK16: DET
WK17: SEA (TNF)
WK18: at GB

Alright, now that we've made it through the first six weeks worth of leaks, let's get to Week 7. The biggest headline here is probably the Super Bowl rematch we'll be getting with Sean Payton's return to New Orleans ranking second.

Thursday, Oct. 17

  • Broncos at Saints, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Sunday, Oct. 20

  • Patriots at Jaguars, 9:30 a.m. ET -- London (NFL Network)
  • Eagles at Giants, 1 p.m. ET (source)
  • Texans at Packers (source)
  • Lions at Vikings (source)
  • Chiefs at 49ers, 4:25 p.m. ET (Fox) (source)
  • Jets at Steelers, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC) (source)

Monday, Oct. 21

  • TBA at TBA, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Brad Biggs just leaked out roughly eight games from Chicago's schedule, including the fact that the Bears will be opening the season with three straight games against AFC South teams

it looks like the Raiders are another team that will be spending the first two weeks of the season on the road. After playing the Chargers in L.A. in Week 1 and then following that up in Week 2 at Baltimore, they finally get to play their home opener in Week 3.

We have another full schedule leak! This time, it's the Steelers. This backend is absolutely brutal, from Week 11 thru Week 18, they play eight straight games against teams that finished last season with a winning record and that includes three games in 10 days (Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs). Yikes.

The Christmas games are official: It will be Chiefs-Steelers at 1 p.m. ET followed by Ravens-Texans at 4:30 p.m. ET in what will be the NFL's first Wednesday doubleheader since 1936. It will also mark the first two NFL games ever to be shown on Netflix.

It looks like we might finally have our first known Monday night doubleheader and it will be happening in Week 4. According to previous leaks, the Lions were scheduled to host the Seahawks on Monday, Sept. 30, and now, it looks like the Titans will also be playing in Miami.

The NFL added Monday doubleheaders with the new media deal in 2023. With two games on the schedule, one will likely be on ESPN and one will be on ABC.

If you've been wondering all day what the Week 6 leaks look like so far, don't worry, I've got the answer for you

Thursday, Oct. 10

  • TBA at TBA 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime)

Sunday, Oct. 13

  • Jaguars at Bears, 9:30 a.m. ET -- London (NFL Network)
  • Lions at Cowboys (source)
  • Buccaneers at Saints (source)
  • Steelers at Raiders (source)
  • Browns at Eagles (source)

Monday, Oct. 14

  • Bills at Jets, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) (source)

One year after Aaron Rodgers went down in a Monday night game against the Bills, the NFL is putting the two teams on Monday night again.

We got another leak: Commanders at Cardinals in Week 4.

The Commanders could be a fun team to watch this year, which is why this game could be exciting.

Alright, let's get back to our weekly leaks and we're now up to Week 5. We don't have a lot of information on Week 5, but we DO HAVE ALL THE PRIMETIME GAMES

Thursday, Oct. 3

  • Buccaneers at Falcons, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Sunday, Oct. 6

  • Jets at Vikings, 9:30 a.m. ET -- London (NFL Network)
  • Cowboys at Steelers, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC) (source)

Monday, Oct. 7

  • Saints at Chiefs, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) (source)
