2024 NFL schedule: Thanksgiving and Christmas matchups, Thursday and Monday prime-time games analysis and more

The leaks are over, the 2024 NFL schedule has been released!

Now that we have the full 272-game regular season schedule, here are a few highlights:

  • Chiefs will host Ravens in NFL opener. Kansas City will be kicking off the 2024 season by hosting Baltimore in a rematch of the 2023 AFC title game.
  • Chiefs will play on six of the seven days of the week. The only day of the week that won't have a Chiefs game this year is Tuesday. Thanks to their Black Friday game against the Raiders and their Wednesday Christmas game against the Steelers, Kansas City will have at least one game on six different days.
  • The annual triple-header on Thanksgiving Day will open with the Bears at Lions followed by Giants at Cowboys. The Dolphins will then travel to Green Bay for the Turkey Day nightcap.
  • The NFL is also giving us a doubleheader on Christmas Day. Not only will the Chiefs be facing the Steelers in a 1 p.m. ET game on Dec. 25, but the NFL is also giving us a 4:30 p.m. ET game where the Texans will be hosting the Ravens.
  • Tom Brady's first game as a broadcaster will be in Cleveland. Brady will be taking over the No. 1 announcing job with Fox this year and his first game will be coming on Sunday, Sept. 8 when the Browns host the Cowboys.

If you want to know more about your favorite team's schedule, be sure to join us on CBS Sports HQ on Thursday night, because we'll be breaking down everything you need to know about the schedule until midnight. You can find the link for our coverage by clicking here

Live updates

We've seen the Eagles entire schedule leak out, we've seen the Jets and Saints schedules leak out, and now, it looks like the Lions entire schedule might have just leaked out

If this schedule is correct, the Lions will probably like the fact that they're getting four of five games at home starting with Week 11. Also, Matthew Stafford returning to Detroit is a solid Sunday night game to start the season.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a date for the battle of Texas. The Cowboys will be hosting the Texans in Week 11. The NFL needs to go full WWE here and make this a loser leaves Texas match

Alright, now that the leaks are slowing down, let's check out what's already leaked out. We've already gone through the first three weeks of the schedule, so let's check out Week 4

Thursday, Sept. 26

  • TBA at TBA, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime)

Sunday, Sept. 29

Monday, Sept. 30

  • TBA at TBA, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN)

We don't know any of the primetime games yet, but the juiciest game here is definitely Bills-Ravens.

It looks like Caleb Williams' first game with the Bears will be coming in Week 1 against the Titans.

We've been slowly making our way through the schedule, and now, we're up to Week 3, so let's check out what's been leaked so far

Thursday, Sept. 19

  • Patriots at Jets, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Sunday, Sept. 22

Monday, Sept. 23

  • TBA at TBA, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN)

The Steelers and Jets will both be playing their home openers in Week 3 after spending the first two weeks of the season on the road

It's looking more and more like this Jets' schedule leak is correct and I have to say, they are going to have a rough opening schedule.

After a Monday night in San Francisco, they turn around play a short week game on the road against the Titans. After that, they turn around and play another short week game with a Thursday nighter against the Patriots that will serve as New York's home opener.

Looking at this schedule, Week 17 is going to be a crazy week of football. With the NFL putting a game on Christmas, we will be getting FIVE DAYS worth of games. Here's what Week 17 looks like so far:

Wednesday, Dec. 25 (Christmas)

  • Chiefs at Steelers (Netflix) (source)
  • Ravens at Texans (Netflix) (source)

Thursday, Dec. 26

  • Seahawks at Bears, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime) (source)

Saturday, Dec. 28

  • TBA

Sunday, Dec. 29

  • Jets at Bills (source)
  • Cowboys at Eagles (source)
  • Raiders at Saints (source)
  • Broncos at Bengals (source) -- Saturday or Sunday
  • Falcons at Commanders (source) -- Saturday or Sunday

Week 17 note: At least two Sunday games will be flexed to Saturday.

Monday, Dec. 30

  • Lions at 49ers, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) (source)

After spending the first two weeks of the season on the road (at Atlanta, at Denver), the Steelers will finally get to play their home opener in Week 3 against JIM HARBAUGH'S CHARGERS

The Cowboys will be ending the season with a HOME game against the Commanders. Will that be Mike McCarthy's final game as the head coach in Dallas!?!?!?

The Saints entire schedule has leaked out and you can check it out here:

They have three primetime games:

Week 5: at Chiefs (MNF)
Week 7: Broncos (TNF)
Week 16: at Packers (MNF)

One huge upside for the Saints is that they won't have to leave New Orleans from Nov. 4 thru Dec. 7.

The Jaguars first four games of the season are going to be brutal. COULD THEY START 0-4?

Speaking of the Saints, after their trip to Green Bay, Derek Carr will get to face off against his old team in a Week 17 home game

The Saints will be playing a Monday night game against the Packers in Week 16. Just what an indoor teams wants: A trip to Green Bay in the middle of December.

If leaks are correct, NFL holiday games appear set:

THANKSGIVING

  • Bears at Lions
  • Giants at Cowboys
  • Dolphins at Packers

BLACK FRIDAY

  • Raiders at Chiefs

CHRISTMAS

  • Ravens at Texans
  • Chiefs at Steelers

Please make plans with your family, accordingly

The games between the Giants and Commanders will be happening seven weeks apart

Based on the news of the Dolphins playing the Packers, here's what your Thanksgiving schedule is going to look like (remember, nothing is official until the NFL announces it)

Thursday, Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving)

  • Bears at Lions, 12:30 p.m. ET (CBS)
  • Giants at Cowboys, 4:30 p.m. ET (Fox) (source)
  • Dolphins at Packers, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC) (source)

Gobble, gobble. It looks like the full Thanksgiving slate is now set and it will end with the Packers hosting the Dolphins in primetime to close out a Turkey Day tripleheader

Looks like the two Christmas games are essentially set in stone. Not only are we getting Chiefs at Steelers, but we'll also be getting Ravens at Texans. With the Steelers and Ravens playing in Baltimore on the Saturday before Christmas, that almost certainly means that the Chiefs and Texans will be playing in Kansas City on the same day (Dec. 21).

Alright, we went over all the Week 1 leaks a little bit earlier, so let's take a look at what we have for Week 2:

Thursday, Sept. 12

  • Bills at Dolphins, 8:15 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime)

Sunday, Sept. 15

  • Browns at Jaguars (source)
  • 49ers at Vikings (source)
  • Colts at Packers (source)
  • Steelers at Broncos (source)
  • Seahawks at Patriots (source)
  • Bengals at Chiefs, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS)

Monday, Sept. 16

  • Falcons at Eagles, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) (source)

It took me three tries to send out that link. That must mean it's time for lunch

By the way, if you are just joining us and you don't feel like scrolling all the way back in this live blog, we have a RUNNING LIST going of every leaked game and you can check that out by clicking here

You might want to go ahead and circle November 17 on your calendar, because that's when the Chiefs and Bills will be playing each other

Sean Payton will finally be making his return to New Orleans and it will be happening on Thursday night football in October

It looks like we might have the other Christmas game to go with Chiefs-Steelers. If this ends up being the case, that likely means the Chiefs and Texans will be playing each other on Sat. Dec. 21.

The NFC East can not keep a lid on their schedules. First, we had the Giants schedule leak out, and now, it appears we have the Eagles full schedule. Getting the Panthers, Commanders and Giants as three of their final five games seems like a good thing for Philly.

And we also have Panthers at Saints in Week 1, so we officially have half of the Week 1 schedule before noon. Kudos all around. Good job, people. Go get a drink.

Alright, so let's get back to the top of the schedule: Here's what we know about Week so far:

Thursday, Sept. 5

  • Ravens at Chiefs, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC)

Friday, Sept. 6

  • Packers at Eagles, 8:15 p.m. ET -- Sao Paulo, Brazil (Peacock)

Sunday, Sept. 8

  • Steelers at Falcons (source)
  • Broncos at Seahawks (source)
  • Jaguars at Dolphins (source)
  • Cowboys at Browns, 4:25 p.m. ET (Fox)

Monday, Sept. 9

  • Jets at 49ers, 8:20 p.m. ET (ESPN)

That's 14 of 32 teams, so we're almost halfway to filling in all the blanks for the opening week of the season.

OK, now that we've spent 30 minutes talking about the Steelers, I promise we're going to move on to another team, but just for old time's sake, let's take a look at what the Steelers are up against. Poor Steelers.

Man, the poor Steelers. On top of everything we've already mentioned, it appears they'll be playing their first two games on the road. Week 1 is in Atlanta (as we already mentioned) and Week 2 will be Russell Wilson's return trip to Denver

I feel like the Steelers are probably going to have a complaint or two about their late-season schedule
