Bills' Damar Hamlin: Pegged for starting role
Hamlin (hamstring) will be the Bills' starter at free safety Sunday against the Cardinals, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
Hamlin being announced as the starter should confirm the hamstring injury that sidelined him for part of camp is no longer a concern. The 26-year-old appeared in five regular-season games last season, mostly seeing work on special teams and playing only 16 snaps on defense. However, he did play a much larger role in 2022, recording 91 combined tackles on the season, before suffering cardiac arrest during a game against the Bengals.

Bills' Damar Hamlin: Dealing with hamstring issue
Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters Monday that Hamlin is considered week-to-week with a hamstring injury, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
The fourth-year safety could end up missing the Bills' regular-season opener Sep. 8 due to his new hamstring injury. Hamlin is expected to start opposite of Taylor Rapp in Buffalo's secondary in 2024 after recording 91 total tackles, including 1.5 sacks, and two passes defended across 15 regular-season games in 2022, his one season with extended playing time thus far. With Hamlin sidelined for the immediate future, expect Cole Bishop (shoulder) to see more reps with the Bills' first-team defense.

Bills' Damar Hamlin: Cleared for finale
Hamlin (shoulder) is absent from the Bills' final injury report ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Dolphins.
Hamlin missed last week's win over the Patriots due to a shoulder injury. Barring any setbacks, he should be available to provide depth in Buffalo's secondary and contribute on special teams as needed, though he's also been a healthy inactive for much of the season.
