Jets' Mason Appleton: Leads offense with three points
Appleton scored a goal on three shots, added two assists, went plus-3 and logged two hits in Wednesday's 6-0 win over the Oilers.
Appleton and linemates Adam Lowry and Nino Niederreiter were a big part of the Jets' early offense, factoring in on three of the team's first four goals. That trio often functions as a shutdown line, but Wednesday's performance showed how they can control play on offense as well. Appleton had a career-high 14 goals and 36 points in 82 regular-season games last year, and his hot start to 2024-25 gives him a chance of putting up similar numbers.

Jets' Mason Appleton: Contributes helper in win
Appleton logged an assist, four hits and two PIM in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Avalanche in Game 1.
Appleton has gone 11 games without a goal, but he has four helpers over his last five contests. The 28-year-old forward had a hand in Adam Lowry's second tally in Game 1. Appleton enjoyed a healthy campaign in 2023-24, leading to him producing a career-high 36 points with 122 shots on net, 107 hits and a plus-16 rating over 82 appearances. He's a fixture on the Jets' third line, so his offense is likely to be occasional rather than frequent in the postseason.

Jets' Mason Appleton: Powers up against Anaheim
Appleton netted a power-play goal in Friday's 6-0 win over the Ducks.
Appleton's power-play tally rounded out the scoring Friday as the Jets made it look easy in this home contest. However, we can consider the Appleton goal to be rather clutch for DFS players who took a chance on him, as there were only two games on Friday's slate, with the other matchup being a Kings' 5-0 shutout to the detriment of the Blackhawks. It's probably worth turning your attention to Appleton, who is a versatile third-line forward. He also has two goals and five assists through eight March contests.

Jets' Mason Appleton: Logs two helpers
Applegate put up two assists in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Kraken.

He provided back-to-back primary assists late in the second period and early in the third frame to help give the Jets a lead that they would ultimately not hold on to. The 28-year-old center finished with a blocked shot and a plus-2 rating in 15:16 of ice time. While Applegate is now on a modest two-game point streak, prior to these recent outings he had not provided a point since Feb 20.

Jets' Mason Appleton: Garners helper
Appleton notched an assist in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Coyotes.
Appleton snapped a three-game point drought with the helper. He's done little on offense lately, picking up five assists and 20 shots on net across his last 17 games, and Appleton hasn't scored a goal since Nov. 18. The 27-year-old is up to 20 points, hitting that threshold for the third time in his career. He's added 53 shots on net, 36 hits, 25 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating, but fantasy managers may want to find a bit more scoring pop on the waiver wire.

Appleton has two goals and three helpers over his last six games, and he's gone no more than one contest without a point in that span. The 27-year-old has been a pleasant surprise so far with 12 points, 27 shots, 10 hits, 10 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 16 contests. While he's on the third line with almost no power-play time, Appleton is scoring at the highest rate of his career, giving him value as a depth forward in most fantasy formats.

Jets' Mason Appleton: Nets goal Thursday
Appleton scored a goal in Winnipeg's 6-3 victory over Nashville on Thursday.
Appleton ended his five-game goal-scoring drought, though he did register four assists in that span. He's up to four goals and 10 points in 13 outings in 2023-24. Although Appleton has been great offensively this season, he's unlikely to maintain this pace given his lack of a role on the power play -- the 27-year-old's logged just 1:11 of ice time with the man advantage all season.

Jets' Mason Appleton: Strong start to season
Appleton scored a goal and added an assist Thursday in a 4-1 win over the Red Wings.
Appleton's best season came in 2020-21 when he put up 25 points in 56 games. But so far this year, he's already delivered five points (three goals, two assists) in his first seven games. Appleton's pace will likely slow, but in the short term, he could deliver some fantasy value in deep formats.

Jets' Mason Appleton: Scores second goal of campaign
Appleton scored a goal with a plus-1 rating in Tuesday's 4-2 win against the Blues.
Appleton found the back of the net 18 seconds after David Gustafsson opened the scoring in the second period for the Jets, and the home side never looked back. The 27-year-old pivot ended up with two shots on goal in 15:12 of ice time. The marker snapped a three-game scoreless skid for Appleton. His opportunities with the man advantage will likely continue to be few and far between throughout the season, limiting his offensive upside and fantasy appeal.

Jets' Mason Appleton: Two points including GWG
Appleton scored a shorthanded goal which proved to be the game-winner and added an assist in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Panthers.
Adam Lowry did most of the work on the shortie, losing his stick in his own end midway through the third period but still advancing the puck into the neutral zone with his skates before grabbing Josh Morrissey's stick off the Jets' bench as he went by, leading to a two-on-one rush that Appleton finished. Appleton had only one previous short-handed tally in his career, which came back in 2019-20, and his last game-winning goal came in 2021-22.
