Lightning's Mitchell Chaffee: Available to return
Chaffee (upper body) will be an option for Game 1 against Florida on Tuesday, per Amalie Benjamin of NHL.com.
After missing Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Rangers, Chaffee has been a regular at Tampa Bay practices leading into the playoffs. He had 12 goals, 18 points, 68 shots on net and 133 hits across 66 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. Chaffee could play in Game 1 versus the Panthers or be a healthy scratch if the Lightning dress 11 forwards and seven defensemen.

Lightning's Mitchell Chaffee: Leaves Tuesday's game
Chaffee sustained an injury on a hit to the head in Tuesday's game versus the Panthers, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Chaffee was hurt on a hit by Jesse Puljujarvi in the third period. Head coach Jon Cooper didn't have an update on Chaffee's status but thought the hit is worthy of a suspension. The Lightning have piled up injuries at the wrong time -- Chaffee was playing because Luke Glendening (upper body) and Oliver Bjorkstrand (lower body) were already unavailable. Chaffee should be considered day-to-day ahead of Thursday's game versus the Rangers.

Lightning's Mitchell Chaffee: Draws assist Sunday
Chaffee logged an assist in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Sabres.
Chaffee is getting another chance in the lineup as the Lightning manage the absences of Oliver Bjorkstrand (lower body) and Luke Glendening (upper body). Darren Raddysh (undisclosed) was also injured Sunday, so the Lightning may not be able to roll out seven defensemen for a while, further helping Chaffee's chances of staying in the lineup. Chaffee ended a seven-game point drought Sunday, a span that also included 11 healthy scratches. Lightning's Mitchell Chaffee: Filling part-time role
Chaffee has played in just eight of the Lightning's 19 games since the start of March after sitting out Monday's 5-1 win over the Rangers.
The Lightning's deadline deal to bring in Oliver Bjorkstrand and Yanni Gourde has made playing time for bottom-six minutes more competitive. It also doesn't help Chaffee's cause that the Lightning are leaning toward dressing seven defensemen regularly, as he has often been out of the lineup to let Darren Raddysh stay in. Chaffee has done well at times with 17 points, 64 shots on net and 124 hits across 62 appearances, but he's earned just six of those points in his last 32 outings. Unless the Lightning rotate players out for rest ahead of the playoffs, Chaffee is likely to stay a healthy scratch.
