Alcantara (elbow) threw live batting practice at LoanDepot Park on Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Alcantara faced batters for the first time since he underwent Tommy John surgery Oct. 6, 2023. The right-hander's rehab from the operation has moved along swimmingly thus far, and he should be ready to roll for the start of spring training.

Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Completes 40-pitch 'pen session
Alcantara (elbow) threw a 40-pitch up-and-down bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports.
Alcantara began throwing off a mound July 24 and has steadily increased the volume and intensity of his bullpen sessions. While the Marlins aren't entertaining the possibility of Alcantara pitching in 2024, he could resume facing hitters at some point in September and looks on track to enter spring training with few restrictions, if any. Alcantara has been on the shelf all season while recovering from Oct. 6 Tommy John surgery.

Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Stacking up bullpen sessions
Alcantara (elbow) said he threw his sixth bullpen session of the season Saturday while throwing at about 75 percent intensity, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Alcantara won't be activated from the 60-day injured list this season, but the right-hander looks on pace to enter spring training with few restrictions, if any, as he draws closer to the finish line of his recovery from Oct. 6, 2023 Tommy John surgery. The right-hander will continue to gradually increase the intensity and volume of his bullpen sessions in the coming weeks, and he could be cleared to resume facing hitters in batting practice before the Marlins' season comes to an end Sept. 29.

Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Another bullpen coming
Alcantara (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Alcantara threw off a mound Wednesday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last October and will toss another bullpen Saturday. The right-hander remains on schedule for a full recovery by spring training 2025.
