Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Stumbles late in loss
Alcantara (2-6) took the loss against the Rays on Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts over five innings.
Alcantara opened with four scoreless innings before unraveling in the fifth, when he allowed six baserunners and four runs. He generated only nine whiffs on 101 pitches and has now surrendered four earned runs or more in four straight outings. On the season, he owns a 7.99 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 34:23 K:BB across 41.2 innings and lines up for a road matchup with the Angels next weekend.

Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Fans eight in loss
Alcantara (2-5) yielded four runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.2 innings Sunday, striking out eight and taking a loss against the White Sox.
Alcantara looked solid for most of the outing, allowing only one run through the first five frames. He was cruising toward his first quality start since April 23 before serving up a three-run blast to Tim Elko. Alcantara has now allowed at least four runs in five of his last six outings and has taken five consecutive losses. He's sporting a brutal 8.10 ERA and 31:21 K:BB through 36.2 frames. Alcantara is projected to face the Rays at home next weekend.

Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Coughs up five runs
Alcantara (2-4) yielded five runs on six hits and a walk over five innings Monday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Dodgers.
Alcantara gave up a pair of two-run homers to Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani in the third and fifth innings, respectively. Alcantara has made two straight starts against the Dodgers and was tagged with a combined 12 runs over 7.2 innings. He's now on a four-start losing streak and saw his ERA shoot up to 8.42 through 31 frames. Alcantara will look to end the skid in his next outing, which is lined up to be a road matchup with the White Sox this weekend.

Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Run over by Dodgers
Alcantara (2-3) took the loss Tuesday as the Marlins were routed 15-2 by the Dodgers, surrendering seven runs on seven hits and five walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out two.
It was a disastrous outing right from the jump for Alcantara, as Shohei Ohtani roped the first pitch he saw from the right-hander down the right-field line for a leadoff homer. Alcantara got the hook after 79 pitches (43 strikes), and it's the second time in his last three trips to the mound that he's been tagged for at least six runs. The Marlins' gamble on waiting to trade Alcantara until he showed he was fully recovered from Tommy John surgery hasn't paid off -- through six starts and 26 innings, he carries a brutal 8.31 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 19:17 K:BB. He'll be tough to trust in an active fantasy lineup until he begins to show signs of life, but things won't get any easier for Alcantara in his next outing, a scheduled rematch with the Dodgers early next week back in Miami.

Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Takes loss in quality start
Alcantara (2-2) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings as the Marlins were downed 5-2 by the Reds. He struck out four.
The quality start was the first of the season for Alcantara, who needed 102 pitches (68 strikes) to cover six innings for the first time in 2025. The 29-year-old righty is still trying to regain his form after Tommy John surgery, and he'll carry a 6.56 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 17:12 K:BB through 23.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week against the Dodgers.

Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Chased after second inning
Alcantara (2-1) took the loss against the Phillies on Friday, allowing six runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one in two innings.
Alcantara put the Marlins on their back foot when he gave up a two-run homer to Bryce Harper in the first inning. Alcantara yielded four more runs in the second frame, and he did not return for the third inning after tossing 61 pitches (40 strikes) while generating only five whiffs. Friday's effort inflated Alcantara's ERA to 7.27 for the season, and he'll look to turn things around in his next start, tentatively slated for next week at home against the Reds.

Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Earns second win of 2025
Alcantara (2-0) got the win against the Nationals on Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out one batter across 5.2 innings.
Alcantara went nine up, nine down through the first three innings, but he ran into trouble in the fourth when he allowed three runs after loading up the bases. He gave up a fourth run in the sixth inning on an Amed Rosario RBI single, and despite generating only three whiffs on 87 pitches (53 strikes), Alcantara was provided enough run support from the Marlins' offense to come away with his second win of the season. Alcantara has posted a 4.70 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB across 15.1 innings to begin the season, and his next start is tentatively slated for next week at home against the Diamondbacks.
