  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Plates four runs in victory

Goodman went 3-for-6 with a home run, a double, two total runs and four total RBI in a 14-12 win against the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Goodman smashed a two-run homer to left field in the first inning and added a two-run single in the sixth. The 25-year-old backstop has been swinging a hot stick of late, batting .429 (15-for-35) with two homers, eight runs and 11 RBI over his past eight games. Goodman has emerged as one of the league's better offensive catchers this season, and he ranks second at the position with 29 RBI while slashing .300/.354/.506 with seven long balls through 43 contests.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Drives in five runs

Goodman went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer, a triple, a double, five RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Rockies. Goodman got his day started with a three-run blast in the opening frame. He followed that up with a two-run triple in the third and a double in the seventh, leaving him only a single shy of hitting for the cycle. Since April 25, Goodman is hitting .349/.373/.556 with two homers, 13 RBI and 11 runs scored. He's maintained an aggressive approach at the plate, as it's been 63 plate appearances since his last walk, but he's been one of the few bright spots for this dismal Rockies team and has produced solid numbers both in Denver (.827 OPS) and on the road (.846 OPS) this year.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: First three-hit attack in loss

Goodman went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 13-9 loss to the Padres. It was the third time this season that Goodman ripped multiple extra-base hits, and Friday marked his first three-hit attack of the year. The 25-year-old catcher has now hit safely in 10 of his last 11 outings, batting .318 (14-for-44) with eight RBI and four runs scored in that span. Between catcher and designated hitter, Goodman has been playing nearly every day to begin 2025. His .277 batting average on the season ranks third among qualifying catchers in the major leagues.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Drives in all of team's runs

Goodman went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in a loss to Atlanta on Monday. Goodman helped Colorado get off to a fast start with a three-run blast to left field in the first inning, but that was the final time the Rockies got on the scoreboard. Goodman has been one of the few bright spots in what has been a horrendous 4-24 start to the season for Colorado -- he is tied for the team lead with five long balls and ranks first on the Rockies with 14 RBI and 15 runs while slashing .256/.350/.478. Goodman's production has been especially valuable in fantasy given his status as a backstop.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Scores three runs

Goodman went 2-for-3 with two walks, two doubles and three runs scored Friday against the Reds. Goodman's production has come in waves this season, but he's performed well across his last 10 games. He had at least one hit in eight of his last nine games entering Friday, going 9-for-33 with two home runs, six RBI and six runs scored over that span. Goodman's production also hasn't come solely thanks to Coors Field.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Homers Thursday

Goodman went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Royals. He went 0-for-4 in the nightcap. The 25-year-old opened the scoring in Thursday's matinee with a two-out, RBI single off Cole Ragans before extending Colorado's lead to 4-2 with a two-run homer in the third, his fourth long ball this season. Goodman saw his eight-game hitting streak end in the nightcap -- he went 9-for-29 (.310) with two homers and six RBI in that span. He's been serving as the Rockies' primary catcher this season and is slashing .237/.326/.434 with 11 RBI and 10 runs scored across 86 plate appearances.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Sitting Saturday

Goodman is not in the Rockies' starting lineup against the Padres on Saturday. Goodman went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Friday's series opener. He'll begin Saturday's game in the dugout while Jacob Stallings starts behind home plate and bats eighth against San Diego southpaw Kyle Hart.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Getting afternoon off

Goodman is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers. Goodman had started at catcher or designated hitter in each of the Rockies' first nine games, but he'll find himself on the bench for the second time in Colorado's three-game series with the Brewers. Jacob Stallings will get another starting nod behind the dish while Goodman's bat has cooled off a bit following a red-hot start to the season. Over his last five games, Goodman has gone 2-for-19 with two walks against five strikeouts.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: First day off Tuesday

Goodman is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Brewers. It's the first day off this season for Goodman, who has made six starts at catcher and three starts at designated hitter in the Rockies' first nine games. Jacob Stallings is behind the dish and batting eighth Tuesday, while Kris Bryant is serving as the DH.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Consecutive starts behind plate

Goodman went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored Saturday against the Rays. Goodman played his way onto the Colorado roster during spring training, though it appears he also wrestled the starting catcher role away from Jacob Stallings. Goodman has started each of the Rockies' first two games, hitting sixth both times. He's gone 3-for-8 with a pair of doubles.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Draws Opening Day start

Goodman is starting at catcher and batting sixth in Friday's opener against the Rays. Goodman had a fantastic Cactus League, finishing with a 1.322 OPS, three home runs and a 4:4 K:BB, and the Rockies are rewarding him with a start behind the plate over Jacob Stallings. The two catchers will likely split reps at catcher fairly evenly, but Goodman could see some action elsewhere on the diamond as well, and his fantasy ceiling is much higher.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Inside track for roster spot

Goodman has moved ahead of Drew Romo for a roster spot to begin the regular season, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Goodman began spring training competing for a roster spot and was reportedly only in line to play a few times per week behind the plate. However, Harding relays that Goodman has focused on his defense and improved with the help of veteran Jacob Stallings, particularly in his game calling and framing. Goodman has also gone 7-for-19 at the plate in Cactus League action, including three extra-base hits, which helps his case for an expanded role.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Not in lineup

Goodman isn't in the Rockies' lineup Saturday against the Dodgers. Goodman went 0-for-4 with an RBI and two strikeouts during Friday's series opener. He'll now get a chance to rest Saturday while Jacob Stallings starts behind the plate and bats ninth.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Homers in consecutive games

Goodman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Diamondbacks. Goodman's power surge continues -- he's homered in back-to-back games and has swatted five long balls over his last seven contests. He's also gone 7-for-24 (.292) in that span, a significant improvement over his .192 batting average for the year. Goodman is up to 13 homers, 34 RBI, 23 runs scored and a .663 OPS through 206 plate appearances.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Career-high seven RBI in win

Goodman went 3-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBI in Friday's 9-5 win over the Cubs. The 24-year-old took Javier Assad deep in the second inning for a two-run blast before breaking open a 5-5 tie with a grand slam off Nate Pearson in the eighth. Per Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com, Goodman is the second-youngest player in Rockies history to record seven or more RBI in a game -- Troy Tulowitzki was about a month younger in 2009 when he accomplished the feat. Goodman has been seeing consistent playing time in September, mainly behind the plate, and he's gone 7-for-25 (.280) with three of his 11 homers and eight of his 32 RBI on the season.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Retreating to bench Wednesday

Goodman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers. Goodman will hit the bench after he started both of the previous two games at catcher, going 1-for-6 with a solo home run and a walk. Drew Romo will get a turn behind the dish Wednesday, and the Rockies also have a third catcher on the 28-man active roster in Jacob Stallings. With that in mind, the Rockies could treat the catcher spot as a three-man committee rather than relying heavily on Goodman down the stretch.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Another start at catcher

Goodman will start at catcher and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Tigers. It's his second straight start at catcher and his third start at the position over the last five contests. Seemingly, the Rockies want to find out if Goodman -- who has primarily been an outfielder during his time in the majors -- can be a legitimate option at catcher moving forward.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Back with big club

The Rockies recalled Goodman from Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Orioles. He came off the bench and struck out in his lone pinch-hit appearance. While he's up with the big club, Goodman will provide the Rockies with a third catcher as well as a potential platoon mate in the corner outfield or at designated hitter for left-handed-hitting regulars Nolan Jones and Charlie Blackmon. Goodman is batting just .176 with eight home runs and a 29.4 percent strikeout rate in the majors this season.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Headed back to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Goodman to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday. The move clears a spot on the 26-man active roster for outfielder Nolan Jones (back), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Goodman has been with the big club since late April, but he's seen his playing time decrease since the All-Star break. Over 169 total plate appearances in the big leagues on the season, Goodman has slashed .177/.219/.373 with eight home runs, 24 RBI and a 29 percent strikeout rate.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Moving back to bench Wednesday

Goodman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers. Goodman started each of the last four games -- two at designated hitter, two at catcher -- and went 6-for-17 with three home runs and one double, but he hasn't quite seized hold of an everyday role just yet. Jacob Stallings remains the Rockies' No. 1 catcher while Elias Diaz (calf) is on the shelf, and Charlie Blackmon and Elehuris Montero are also expected to factor into the mix at DH until Kris Bryant (oblique) returns from the injured list. Goodman may need to turn in a few more quality performances at the plate in his subsequent starts before the Rockies make him a fixture in the lineup.
