Twins' Kody Funderburk: Returns to majors
The Twins recalled Funderburk from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday. Just two days after being optioned to Triple-A, Funderburk will return to the Twins' bullpen with Brock Stewart (shoulder) headed to the injured list. Funderburk owns a solid 3.38 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 13.1 innings this season, though he's surrendered three runs across four frames spanning his last two outings. He will serve in middle relief while Stewart is sidelined.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kody Funderburk: Not sharp in season debut
Funderburk gave up a run over 1.2 innings with a strikeout, walk and home run allowed in Sunday's loss to Kansas City. Funderburk wasn't sharp during the outing as he also had an error and a balk. He made the roster as the second lefty in the bullpen, but he'll likely be used in low-leverage spots initially like in Sunday's loss.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kody Funderburk: Absent from ALDS roster
Funderburk isn't on the Twins' ALDS roster, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Funderburk was included in the Twins' wild-card roster after allowing just one run in 12 innings over the final month of the season, but he didn't appear in either game versus Toronto and will now lose his spot. Funderburk will be replaced by Bailey Ober, who is set to start Game 1 on Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kody Funderburk: Headed to big leagues
Funderburk's contract was selected by the Twins prior to Monday's game against Cleveland, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Funderbrunk has fared well in 2023, spending the majority of his time at Triple-A St. Paul. He owns a 2.60 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with a 75:21 K:BB across 37 appearances (two starts). Bailey Ober was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move, and Oliver Ortega (back) was shifted to the 60-day IL to free up a spot on the 40-man roster.... See More ... See Less

Phil Miller@MillerStrib5D agoI wrote in this morning’s paper about Pablo López’s “Wheel of Fortune,” what he calls his latest morale-building “clubhouse shenanigan.” Today, John Wareham of the Strib’s research dept. informs me it’s not the first time the Twins have had a prize wheel! Phil Miller@MillerStrib15D ago2 HRs given up by Simeon Woods Richardson today means Twins starting pitchers have allowed 12 HRs in last 5 games (Ober 3, Paddack 2, López 1, Ryan 4, SWR 2). It’s the most by Twins starters in 5 games since Sept. 14-18, 2008 (Blackburn 4, Slowey 2, Liriano 2, Baker 2, Perkins 2)
