  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Sent back to Norfolk

The Orioles optioned Stowers to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Stowers posted a respectable .763 OPS over his five-week stay with the Orioles, but the club simply didn't have regular playing time available for him. He had started in just one of Baltimore's last nine games, so Baltimore will send him back to Norfolk so that he can see steadier at-bats. Utility man Nick Maton was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Blasts first homer

Stowers went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Thursday against Atlanta.

Stowers' first homer of the season came in the seventh off Atlanta reliever Pierce Johnson and pulled the Orioles to within a run. However, those were the only three runs the O's would score. The blast was the first in the big leagues since 2022 for Stowers, who has collected a homer and four doubles among 10 hits in 34 at-bats this season.

  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Drawing start Thursday

Stowers (wrist) will serve as the Orioles' designated hitter and No. 8 batter in Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Stowers is back in the lineup for the first time since Saturday's 5-0 win over the Rays, though he acknowledged prior to Wednesday's 4-2 win over Atlanta that he's made a full recovery from a sore right wrist. The 26-year-old has produced a respectable .723 OPS over 31 plate appearances with the big club this season, but he still may be in line for just one or two starts per week while the Orioles have all of their key outfielders available.

  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Available off bench Wednesday

Stowers (wrist) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta but is available off the bench, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Stowers hasn't played since Saturday's 5-0 win over the Rays due to a sore right wrist, but he noted that he's feeling good and will be ready to make a pinch-hitting appearance or enter Wednesday's contest as a defensive replacement, if needed. The 26-year-old isn't a regular in the Baltimore lineup, so he could still be a few days away from making his next start, even though he's ostensibly healthy.

  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Absent from lineup

Stowers (wrist) remains out of the lineup for Monday's contest in Tampa Bay.

Stowers exited Saturday's game against the Rays with right wrist discomfort and hasn't played since. He's been receiving treatment and the hope is that he's available off the bench Monday. Colton Cowser, Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander will patrol the outfield for Baltimore on Monday.

  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Leaves with wrist injury

Stowers was removed from Saturday's game against the Rays with right wrist discomfort, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Stowers was taken out of the contest in the sixth inning with soreness in his right wrist, and Colton Cowser took Stowers' place in left field. Per Jake Rill of MLB.com, Stowers' injury stems from a dive he made during the series against the Blue Jays earlier this week and is considered minor.

  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Drives in four

Stowers went 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI and a run scored in Monday's 11-3 win against Boston.

Stowers had mustered just one RBI and one run scored across 17 plate appearances since his promotion May 13, but the 26-year-old made the most of his opportunity Monday, slugging two extra-base hits and plating four runners in a career-best performance. Stowers has started two of the last three games and could continue to draw spot starts in the outfield against right-handed pitching, especially with performances like this one.

  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Starting Saturday

Stowers is starting in left field and batting eighth against the White Sox on Saturday.

Stowers will make his third start of the season Saturday. In his last start, he went 1-for-3 with a double against the Cardinals on May 21, and the 26-year-old is 2-for-8 with one RBI since being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on May 13. With Stowers in left field, Colton Cowser will shift to center field while Cedric Mullins gets a rest day.

  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Promotion official

The Orioles recalled Stowers from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

Baltimore cleared room on the 26-man active roster for Stowers by optioning outfielder/first baseman Heston Kjerstad to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Stowers, 26, is joining the big club for the first time this season, but he saw action with the Orioles during the 2022 and 2023 campaigns and owns a collective .207/.267/.331 in 131 career big-league plate appearances. He'll likely serve as a depth outfielder while he's up with the Orioles and could be sent back to Triple-A once Austin Hays (calf) is ready to return from the injured list.

  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Set to be recalled

The Orioles will recall Stowers from Triple-A Norfolk prior to Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.

Baltimore has yet to make the move official, but the club could option Heston Kjerstad to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Like Kjerstad before him, Stowers isn't likely to get steady playing time, either, given the Orioles' crowded outfield situation, but getting him regular reps is probably less of a priority than it would be with Kjerstad. Stowers had posted a .315 on-base percentage and 11 home runs across 165 plate appearances with Norfolk this season.

  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Optioned to Triple-A

The Orioles optioned Stowers to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Stowers is tied for the Grapefruit League lead with seven home runs this spring, but ultimately it still wasn't enough to force his way onto the Orioles' crowded roster. The 26-year-old will be given regular playing time at Norfolk while awaiting another shot in the majors.

  • Orioles' Kyle Stowers: Making case for bench spot

Stowers hit three home runs in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers to bring his total to seven homers this spring. He is batting .275/.286/.800 through 17 exhibition games.

Stowers has minor-league options remaining and there are a number of fresh faces pushing to make the Orioles' Opening Day roster. While the power numbers this spring look good, his 1:12 BB:K is less impressive (and arguably more meaningful in a small sample). Strikeouts have been an issue for Stowers at the upper levels -- the 26-year-old has three home runs and a 31.3 percent strikeout rate in 131 major-league plate appearances to date. He's also limited defensively to the outfield corners.
