  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Healthy for camp

Bane (back) has been a full participant in training camp this week, Michael Wallace of NBA.com reports. A back injury robbed Bane of the final nine games of the 2023-24 season, and that took place shortly after he missed a couple of months with an ankle issue. He had a healthy offseason by all accounts, however, and fantasy managers will be looking for him to bounce back with his injuries behind him. In just 36 regular-season appearances last season, Bane averaged 24.7 points, 5.4 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 34.9 minutes.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Expected to have healthy offseason

Bane (back) will be sidelined for a few more weeks but is expected to have a healthy summer, Drew Hill of The Daily Memphian reports. Bane averaged 24.7 points, 5.4 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 34.9 minutes over his first 36 appearances of 2023-24 before injuries derailed his campaign. An ankle injury sidelined Bane from mid-January to mid-March, and he appeared in only five of the ensuing six games before a back issue cost him the final nine contests of the regular season. It was a lost season for the Grizzlies as a whole, as Ja Morant (suspension/shoulder), Marcus Smart (finger/foot) and others also missed extended periods. However, it sounds like the Grizzlies will have a healthy offseason, which bodes well for their chances of bouncing back in 2024-25.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Won't suit up Sunday

Bane (back) won't play Sunday against the Nuggets. As expected, Bane's regular season is officially over. His campaign was riddled with injuries, as he made just 42 appearances. He finished with averages of 23.7 points, 5.5 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 3.3 three-pointers.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Likely out for remainder of season

Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins said Tuesday that there is a "good chance" Bane (back) won't play for the rest of the season, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. With the Grizzlies already being eliminated from the playoffs, the team is content to shut down two more members of its long-term nucleus in Bane and Jaren Jackson (quadriceps) for the final week of the 2023-24 campaign. Bane will miss his sixth consecutive game Tuesday versus the Spurs and will likely end the season averaging 23.7 points, 5.5 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 34.4 minutes across 42 appearances. The 25-year-old guard showed a promising ability to be a lead scorer while Ja Morant (shoulder) missed most of the season.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Remains out

Bane (back) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Spurs. Bane will miss a sixth straight game due to back soreness. His next chance to suit up will come during the second half of Memphis' back-to-back set Wednesday in Cleveland, but at this point, it feels like the Grizzlies may shut down their top players for the final week of the regular season.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Will remain sidelined

Bane (back) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the 76ers. Bane's back soreness will extend his absence streak to five games. The star shooting guard's next chance to take the floor will come Tuesday versus the Spurs. While he is out, Luke Kennard (knee) and GG Jackson are candidates to see extended workloads at shooting guard.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Remains out Friday

Bane (back) is out for Friday's game against Detroit. At this point of the season and with the Grizzlies out of the playoff race, it doesn't make sense for Memphis to risk Bane's health down the stretch. This will be his fourth straight absence due to back soreness, and his next chance to play, as unlikely as that might be, will be a Saturday matchup against the 76ers at home.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Absence to continue Wednesday

Bane (back) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against Milwaukee. Bane will miss a third consecutive contest due to back soreness. Though the Grizzlies have little left to play for at this stage of the season, the team hasn't definitively shut Bane down. As a result, his status will continue to be updated on a game-by-game basis through the final week and a half of the season.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Won't play Saturday

Bane is out for Saturday's game versus the Magic due to back soreness. Bane's absence will likely open up increased minutes for Luke Kennard, Jake LaRavia and GG Jackson. Bane's next chance to suit up is Monday's matchup with Detroit.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Racks up career-high 16 dimes

Bane finished with 26 points (8-17 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four rebounds, 16 assists and one steal across 40 minutes during Wednesday's 136-124 loss to the Lakers. Bane was Memphis' leading scorer and drained four triples in the loss, but his most impactful contribution came as a passer. The talented guard set a career high with 16 assists, marking his first time reaching double digits in that category over five contests since returning from a 29-game absence March 16. Bane has two other double-digit assist performances this season and is averaging a career-high 5.5 dimes per contest on the campaign.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Modest performance in loss

Bane amassed 15 points (6-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal across 32 minutes during Monday's 128-103 loss to Denver. Bane was back in the starting lineup Monday, producing nothing more than a serviceable fantasy line. While it is good to see him back on the floor, it is clear the Grizzlies are not going to roll him out there on a nightly basis. Given the uncertainty regarding his availability, he is a tough player to hold for more than one game at a time.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Returning Monday

Bane (back) will play and is in the starting lineup Monday night against the Nuggets. Bane sat out Saturday's matchup due to back soreness, but he's been given the green light for Monday. He's appeared in only three games since Jan. 12, averaging 17.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.0 steals over that brief stretch.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Questionable for Monday

Bane (back) is questionable for Monday's game against the Nuggets. Bane continues to deal with back soreness, but it's encouraging that he's deemed questionable rather than doubtful on the initial injury report. If he's sidelined again Monday, Scotty Pippen and DeJon Jarreau are candidates to see increased run.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Officially out

Bane (back) won't play Friday against the Spurs. Bane was listed as doubtful on the injury report due to a sore back, and the Grizzlies will shut him down for Friday's matchup. Look for Scotty Pippen and DeJon Jarreau to see upticks in playing time in the backcourt as a result.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Doubtful for Friday

Bane is doubtful to play against the Spurs on Friday due to a sore back. With Bane likely to be watching from the sidelines Friday evening and Scotty Pippen (shin) questionable, DeJon Jarreau and Jordan Goodwin could be asked to play big minutes. Check back for official confirmation on Bane's status closer to Friday's tip.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Stuffs stat sheet Monday

Bane posted 24 points (7-19 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 8-8 FT), five rebounds, four assists and three steals across 37 minutes during Monday's 121-111 overtime loss to the Kings. It's been only two games since he returned to action, but Bane has made his presence felt on both ends of the court. Even though Memphis' season has gone down the drain, Bane is expected to play a strong role -- while being a solid fantasy option -- for as long as he remains available.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Scores 22 points in return

Bane (ankle) posted 22 points (7-17 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 4-6 FT), seven assists, three rebounds and one block across 32 minutes during Saturday's 118-112 loss to the Thunder. Bane made his first appearance since Jan. 12 after missing each of the Grizzlies' last 29 games due to a Grade 3 left ankle sprain. Though his shooting was erratic in his return, Bane didn't seem to be operating under a major minutes restriction and also took on some playmaking responsibilities for a Grizzlies squad operating without multiple point guards. Due to Memphis' status as a non-contender, Bane could be subject to periodic rest days over the team's remaining games, though he should see ample usage whenever he's cleared to play on a given day.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Will start Saturday

Bane (ankle) will start Saturday's game against the Thunder, Chris Herrington of The Daily Memphian reports. Bane has been sidelined for the past couple months, so it's not a surprise that coach Taylor Jenkins said that the Grizzlies will be mindful of his usage and minutes right out of the gate. Based on how the Grizzlies have handled their injuries and rotations, it's reasonable to expect some maintenance days for Bane during the final stretch.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Practicing, likely out Wednesday

The Grizzlies assigned Bane (ankle) to the G League's Memphis Hustle to participate in practice Wednesday. Bane will be recalled immediately after the session, but he's expected to miss his 29th straight game Wednesday against the Hornets due to a left ankle sprain. However, the 25-year-old guard's participation in practice is a good sign that he's nearing a return, as is the fact that the Grizzlies are listing him as doubtful for Wednesday's contest rather than out.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Nearing return

Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins said Tuesday that Bane (ankle) is nearing a return to action, Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. "Bane's working really hard, so I envision in a couple games here, he's back in the lineup," Jenkins said. Bane has been out of the lineup since Jan. 12, and the Grizzlies are likely to take a cautious approach with him given their standing as a non-contender. He's officially listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Hornets rather than being ruled out directly for the contest, which further supports the notion that he's nearing a return. While he likely won't play Wednesday, fantasy managers can consider Bane as questionable for Saturday's game against the Thunder.
