The addition of one of the best young defensive minds (Dennard Wilson) in football as Titans defensive coordinator should help this unit rebound, and they still have one of the best interior disrupters in football in Jeffrey Simmons, but major question marks remain in the secondary for Tennessee. The Titans scored the 26th-most Fantasy points per game in 2023 and are unlikely to be worth rostering in 2024.

Sweat (undisclosed) is not taking part in minicamp this week, but he is expected to be ready for training camp, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. Head coach Brian Callahan told Wyatt the team isn't concerned about Sweat missing time, and he'll continue to put in work leading up to camp. The Texas product was the Titans' second-round selection in the 2024 Draft, and he is expected to be the team's No. 1 option at nose tackle this season.

Simmons (knee) didn't practice Tuesday during the Titans' minicamp session, Nubyjas Wilborn of SI.com reports. Head coach Brian Callahan said that Simmons is still recovering from the knee injury that he suffered late in the 2023 season. Simmons appeared in the Titans' first 12 games last season, tallying 44 total tackles, 5.5 sacks and one forced fumble. Once the 26-year-old defensive lineman returns to the field, he's expected to continue dominating the line of scrimmage.

He's expected to remain a starter at inside linebacker in 2024.

  • Jaguars' Terrell Edmunds: Gets opportunity in Jacksonville

The Jaguars signed Edmunds to a contract Thursday. Edmunds began the 2023 campaign as a starter for Philadelphia before being dealt to the Titans in Week 7, where his opportunities grew more inconsistent. Across nine games with the Titans he handled over 50 percent of defensive snaps on just one occasion, but contributed heavily on special teams. Now, Edmunds likely profiles to head into the 2024 season as a depth player for Jacksonville.

  • Dane Cruikshank: Welcomed to Atlanta

Cruikshank signed a contract with the Falcons on Saturday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Cruikshank had a tryout in Atlanta and signed with the team less than one day later. He was primarily a practice squad member for the Titans in 2023, but he did suit up for two games. The 29-year-old will now spend the offseason competing for a depth role in the Falcons' secondary.

  • Shakel Brown: Let go by Tennessee

Brown (ankle) was waived by the Titans on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Brown spent all last season on IR, but he was waived without an injury designation, so he should be considered healthy. The 25-year-old was an undrafted free agent out of Troy in 2023 and was working to earn a spot on the Titans defensive line when he suffered a preseason ankle injury.

  • Titans' Caleb Farley: Option declined

Farley (back) will not have his fifth-year option exercised by the Titans, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Farley has struggled to stay on the field, missing all of his 2023 campaign due to a back injury, so the news doesn't really come as a surprise. He's also suited up just 12 times between his first and second seasons, making two starts and recording 14 combined tackles.

  • Titans' Jaylen Harrell: Tennessee adds Round 7 pass rusher

The Titans selected Harrell in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 252nd overall. Harrell is a fringe prospect for a reason -- namely, he's unrefined as a pass rusher and doesn't have much variety of moves to work around blockers -- but as far as seventh-round picks go, he can't be a bad value. Harrell was a prominent contributor on Michigan's National Championship-winning defense, and at 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, he boasts a 40-yard dash time around the 4.70-second range. Those are good enough athletic tools for the NFL, so it's just on Harrell to develop his skill set a bit more to become more consistently disruptive.

  • Titans' James Williams: Round 7 pick for Tennessee

The Titans selected Williams in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 242nd overall. Williams played a hybrid defensive role with Miami and is considered a combo between a safety and linebacker. He lacks technical soundness but is an explosive athlete and should have no problem covering tight ends or running backs in the NFL. If Williams can add discipline to his game, he has the potential to be an impact selection late in the draft.

  • Titans' T'Vondre Sweat: Tennessee picks up in second round

The Titans selected Sweat in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 38th overall. Sweat was generally expected to go later than this, especially after a DWI arrest earlier in April, but the Texas defensive tackle is probably talented enough to justify the selection. At 6-foot-5, 366 pounds, Sweat is the type of enormous prospect that only shows up every five years or so, and at that size, he will always be more of a gap-holding presence than one that splits them for tackles in the backfield. With that said, Sweat seems unusually nimble and flexible for such a gigantic lineman, and he should be the kind of player who shows up on tape even if he's not the defender specifically making the tackle.

  • Chargers' Kristian Fulton: Inks one-year deal with Bolts

Fulton (hamstring) agreed to terms Friday on a one-year contract with Los Angeles, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Fulton ended the 2023 season on IR due to a quadriceps injury, but he's presumably fully healthy and ready to get up to speed with the Chargers' defensive scheme as soon as offseason workouts begin. The 25-year-old could be an option to start across from Asante Samuel at cornerback for Los Angeles, but the team will likely be most comfortable with Fulton in a depth role after making further additions to the secondary via either free agency or the 2024 NFL Draft.

  • Seahawks' K'Von Wallace: Finds new home

Wallace is signing a one-year contract with the Seahawks on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Wallace split last season between the Cardinals and Titans, playing a total of 17 games. He set career highs across the board in 2023 with 89 tackles and six passes defended, including his first career interception, but he may not see as big a workload on defense in a Seattle secondary that already features Julian Love and Rayshawn Jenkins at safety.

  • Titans' Jack Gibbens: Tendered by Titans

Gibbens (back) has been tendered by the Titans, Ben Arthur of Fox Sports reports. Gibbens was an exclusive rights free agent, so the Titans retain his rights for the 2024 season with this move. The 25-year-old linebacker started all but one of the 14 games in which he appeared last season, racking up 95 tackles (55 solo) and three passes defensed before being placed on injured reserve due to a back injury.

  • Titans' Kenneth Murray: Taking talents to Tennessee

Murray (shoulder) has agreed to a two-year, $18 million contract with the Titans, ESPN.com reports. Murray missed the final two games of his Chargers tenure due to a shoulder injury, but he's expected to be recovered by the time Tennessee begins organized team activities. Prior to getting hurt, Murray posted 107 tackles in 2023, tying the career high he set as a rookie in 2020 after being drafted 23rd overall that year.
