Colts' Evan Hull: Knee injury included torn MCL
Hull recently revealed his offseason knee surgery was more extensive than first thought, as he suffered a torn left MCL, also described as a "root tear" of his meniscus, The Athletic reports. He was cleared to return to full football activities a few weeks before OTAs and has participated fully in spring practices.
Moss missed all but one game last season due to a knee injury, but the details of his surgery were not fully known. There's a wide-open competition for the backup role to Jonathan Taylor due to Zack Moss departing in free agency. Trey Sermon is likely the leading candidate, but Hull and Tyler Goodson are in the mix. Either Hull or Goodson could get more work as the third-down or receiving option due to pass-catching ability, but the situation remains fluid, and it's possible the Colts bring another veteran into the mix during training camp.

Colts' Evan Hull: Healthy and vying for backup role
Hull (knee) appears set to compete with Trey Sermon for the backup role behind starter Jonathan Taylor this offseason, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Hull is back to full health after a knee injury limited him to just one appearance as a rookie in 2023, per Paul Bretl of USA Today. After Zack Moss was able to thrive as the backup to Taylor in 2023, fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on which of Hull and Sermon managers to show out better in training camp and preseason action. Sermon could have a leg up to begin the competition, but as Boyd notes, he's totaled just 78 carries in his career and isn't significantly more established than Hull.

Colts' Evan Hull: Won't return this season
Hull (knee) is expected to miss the rest of the season, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 ESPN The Fan Indianapolis reports.
The rookie fifth-round pick suffered a knee injury in his first NFL game Week 1 versus Jacksonville and went on injured reserve. While the team previously noted that Hull was making progress in his recovery, Bowen's report suggests that the Northwestern product may have suffered a setback that will prevent him from playing again in 2023. The Colts' need for Hull has been lessened after Zack Moss returned from a broken forearm Week 2 and after Jonathan Taylor returned from ankle surgery Week 5.
