Chisholm went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a triple, a run scored and an RBI in Sunday's extra-inning win over the Phillies. Both extra-base hits came off Zack Wheeler, as the Marlins tagged the Phillies' ace for six runs -- the right-hander's worst start of the season. Chisholm has caught fire over the last week, producing four multi-hit performances in the last seven games and batting .370 (10-for-27) over that stretch with three doubles, a triple, a homer, three steals, three RBI and five runs.... Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Goes deep Tuesday
Chisholm went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers. Chisholm wasted no time getting the Marlins on the board, sending the first pitch of the game deep to right field for his fifth home run of the year. With Luis Arraez shipped off to San Diego, Chisholm has now batted leadoff in each of the last three games, going 5-for-12 with two RBI, four runs and three steals. Chisholm is expected to remain in the leadoff role on a regular basis against right-handed pitching, per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. He's now slashing .243/.322/.412 with 12 extra-base hits, 20 RBI, 17 runs and a 16:39 BB:K in 152 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Steals another base
Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a stolen base Monday in a loss to the Dodgers. Chisholm put his speed on display in the first inning, reaching on a leadoff infield single, swiping second base and coming around to score on a single. He finished with his second straight multi-hit game, and he's stolen three bases over that pair of contests. Chisholm's career high in stolen bases is 23 (set in 2021), and he's on pace to surpass that mark with eight thefts through 36 contests this season.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Swipes two bags
Chisholm went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, one RBI, two steals and a walk in Sunday's win over the Athletics. Chisholm drew a leadoff walk, then stole second and third before scoring during Miami's four-run first inning. He added two singles later in the contest, including an RBI knock in the sixth. Chisholm had gone 11 straight games without a multi-hit effort, posting a .607 OPS during that span. He now owns a .702 OPS with seven steals, 10 extra-base hits and 19 RBI through 144 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Belts fourth homer
Chisholm went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 7-2 loss to the Nationals. He spoiled Jake Irvin's attempt at a shutout by launching a fastball over the fence in center field in the sixth inning. Chisholm has gone yard in back-to-back games on the heels of a 17-game homer drought, and the 26-year-old could be catching fire. On the season, he's slashing .245/.339/.406 with four homers, five steals, 13 runs and 17 RBI in 29 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Launches grand slam
Chisholm reached base three times, going 1-for-3 with a grand slam, two walks and two runs scored during Sunday's loss to the Nationals. Chisholm's third blast of the season came off Nationals starter Patrick Corbin and got the Marlins off to a great start, plating four runs prior to the Nationals recording an out. Chisholm, who entered the game with just two hits in his previous 13 at-bats, ended a 17-game homerless drought with the first-inning bomb. His average now stands at .245 with three home runs, 15 RBI, 12 runs scored and five steals, while he's reached base at a career-high .342 clip.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Nabs third steal
Chisholm went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Yankees. The 26-year-old center fielder has stolen bags in back-to-back games, and all three of his steals on the season have come in his last five contests. While his legs are doing fine, Chisholm's bat has yet to really ramp up, and through 12 games he's slashing .195/.340/.390. Four of his eight hits (two doubles and two homers) have gone for extra bases though, and he's added seven runs and eight RBI, making a solid five-category contribution in OBP formats.... Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Swipes second bag Tuesday
Chisholm went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees. While his numbers so far aren't eye-popping, Chisholm has been a steady presence in the Marlins' lineup. Hitting fourth against righties and fifth against lefties, the 26-year-old has reached base in 10 of 11 games, slashing .211/.348/.421 with two homers, two steals, seven runs, eight RBI and an 8:11 BB:K that bodes well for his batting average.... Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Steps out of lineup
Chisholm is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. The 26-year-old started the first 10 games of the season but will receive Monday off against New York lefty Nestor Cortes. Chisholm has two homers, eight walks and eight RBI through 42 plate appearances but is hitting just .206. Vidal Brujan will take over in center field Monday for the Marlins.... See More ... Chisholm is batting just .185 (5-for-27) to begin the year, but he's drawn seven walks and has one homer, five runs and five RBI in eight games in addition to Thursday's pilfer.... See More ... Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Cranks grand slam
Chisholm went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk in Sunday's loss to the Pirates. Chisholm's first home run of the season cleared the bases and staked the Marlins to an early 5-0 lead that they were ultimately unable to maintain. Chisholm struggled significantly last season against lefties, hitting just .172 with only two of his 19 homers off southpaws, making his homer Sunday a positive sign considering it came off left-handed Pirates starter Bailey Falter. Chisholm finished the series with the Pirates reaching base in six of his 18 plate appearances, walking four times with a double and a home run.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: On base three times Thursday
Chisholm went 1-for-3 with a double, two walks and two runs scored in Thursday's 6-5 extra-innings loss to the Pirates on Opening Day. Batting fourth for the Marlins, Chisholm scored the game's first run in the second inning before crossing the plate again in the third to give his team a 4-2 lead that the bullpen couldn't protect. The 26-year-old's main goal in 2024 is just to stay healthy -- in 157 games over the last two seasons combined, Chisholm has slashed .251/.312/.487 with 33 homers, 34 steals, 89 runs and 96 RBI.... Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Finding groove in camp
Chisholm went 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies. The 26-year-old center fielder is batting .321 (9-for-28) this spring with a 2:9 BB:K, and while he is looking for his first homer, he does have two doubles and two steals in two attempts. The Marlins are still waiting to see what a healthy Chisholm might do over a full campaign -- he's played 157 games over the last two seasons combined, posting a .251/.312/.487 slash line with 33 homers and 34 stolen bases.... Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Swipes first bag of spring
Chisholm went 1-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees. The 26-year-old's shift to center field last year didn't solve his injury woes, but Chisholm still has tantalizing fantasy upside should he ever stay in one piece. In 157 games over the last two seasons combined, he's slashed .251/.312/.487 with 33 homers and 34 steals. Thursday's pilfer was his first of the spring in three games, and it's a good sign that he's fully recovered from offseason surgery to correct a turf toe issue.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Making spring debut
Chisholm (toe) is starting in center field and batting cleanup for Sunday's spring game against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Chisholm played through turf toe for much of 2023 and underwent surgery to address the injury in October, but he's game-ready early in spring training, as expected. The 26-year-old played in 97 games last season and posted a .250/.304/.457 slash line with 19 home runs and 22 steals.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Undergoes surgery for turf toe
Chisholm underwent surgery Tuesday to repair the turf toe in his right foot, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Chisholm battled symptoms of turf toe throughout much of the 2023 regular season while posting a relatively disappointing .250/.304/.457 slash line across 383 plate appearances. Despite the lingering discomfort and overall inconsistency, the dynamic 25-year-old center fielder still managed to tally 22 steals and a career-high 19 homers in 97 games as the Marlins claimed the second NL wild-card spot. He should be 100 percent healthy leading into the start of the 2024 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Heads to bench Sunday
Chisholm is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. The 25-year-old went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, two RBI and two runs Saturday to help the Marlins punch their ticket to the playoffs, and he'll take a seat Sunday for the final game of the regular season. Chisholm is likely to close the campaign with 19 homers, 22 steals, 52 RBI and a .767 OPS in 97 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Homers, accounts for four runs
Chisholm went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Pirates. Chisholm drove in Miami's first two runs of the game, the first coming on an RBI single in the top of the first and the latter coming on a solo homer in the third. He would later come around to score another insurance run for the Marlins as the team clinched its first playoff berth since 2020. The center fielder has now recorded multiple hits in three of his last five games, with five of those hits going for extra bases. On the downside, he's also struck out at least one time in 11 consecutive games.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Knocks another grand slam
Chisholm went 1-for-2 with a grand slam, four runs scored and three walks in Sunday's 16-2 win over Atlanta. Chisholm belted a grand slam for the second straight day, this time during the third inning against Charlie Morton. After drawing five walks over a period of 38 appearances, Chisholm has collected five free passes in the last two games. He has five home runs and 17 RBI over his last 16 games, going 17-for-58 (.310) during that stretch. Chisholm now owns a .779 OPS with 28 extra-base hits, 48 RBI and 45 runs scored through 86 games.... See More ... See Less
