Steel scored an empty-net goal on two shots, dished a shorthanded assist and went plus-2 in Monday's 5-1 win over the Avalanche in Game 4. Steel's shot on a shorthanded chance led to Wyatt Johnston's goal on a rebound. Steel also deposited an empty-netter to seal the Stars' third straight win. The 26-year-old has just four points through 11 playoff outings, but three of them have come over the last two games. He could be in line for a larger role if Roope Hintz (upper body) misses time after leaving Monday's contest in the first period.... See More ... See Less

Stars' Sam Steel: Posts assist in Game 3 win
Steel logged an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Avalanche in Game 3. Steel has just two assists to go with eight shots on net and 15 hits through 10 playoff outings. He's exceeded 14 minutes of ice time in four straight games despite being listed on the Stars' fourth line. Steel is far from a reliable scorer, but he appears to have the trust of head coach Pete DeBoer to handle a versatile depth role during the postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Chips in with helper
Steel logged an assist in Monday's 4-2 win over the Golden Knights in Game 4. Steel snapped a nine-game point drought with the helper on Ty Dellandrea's go-ahead goal in the second period. The 26-year-old Steel continues to see steady usage on the fourth line. He was solid with 24 points, 86 shots on net, 58 hits and 29 PIM over 77 regular-season appearances while filling a variety of spots in the bottom six.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Grabs two points in win
Steel scored a goal on two shots, dished an assist and went plus-3 in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Oilers. The Stars got a big game out of their fourth line, with Steel setting up Radek Faksa on the opening goal at 2:08 of the first period. Steel also scored the team's fifth tally of the game late in the second. The 26-year-old has four points over his last six outings despite not seeing more than 15 minutes of ice time in any of those games. He's produced nine goals, 24 points, 78 shots on net, 56 hits, 29 PIM and a plus-4 rating across 71 contests this season.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Supplies helper Tuesday
Steel notched an assist and two PIM in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Sharks. Steel set up a Mason Marchment tally in the first period. With Tyler Seguin (lower body) resting after a recent return from injury, Steel remained on the fourth line while Ty Dellandrea moved up the lineup. Steel has four points over 11 outings in March, and he's up to eight goals, 14 helpers, 74 shots on net, 55 hits, 29 PIM and a plus-1 rating through 68 contests overall.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Pots goal in win
Steel scored a goal on two shots in Friday's 4-2 win over the Penguins. Steel's third-period tally chased Tristan Jarry from the game. The goal was Steel's first point in six outings. With the Stars missing only Evgenii Dadonov (lower body) among their forwards, Steel will need to stay sharp in a bottom-six role to avoid being a healthy scratch. The 26-year-old Steel is up to eight goals, 21 points, 71 shots on net, 52 hits and 27 PIM through 66 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Garners assist Friday
Steel notched an assist and three hits in Friday's 6-2 win over the Ducks. Steel set up a Radek Faksa tally in the first period, which stood as the game-winner. With two helpers over the last three games, Steel is starting to shake off a slump that limited him to three points over 13 outings in February. He's at 20 points, 63 shots on net, 42 hits and 25 PIM over 60 appearances this season, playing primarily in a bottom-six role.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Slings helper in shootout win
Steel notched an assist and two hits in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the Sharks. Steel snapped his eight-game point drought by assisting on Radek Faksa's second-period tally. While he's floated around the lineup at times, Steel has been firmly in place as the fourth-line center since Tyler Seguin (lower body) exited the lineup. Steel has 19 points, 62 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating over 58 appearances, but fantasy managers can likely find better options on the waiver wire.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Posts two points in win
Steel scored a goal, added an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's 9-2 win over the Predators. Steel picked off a pass to score 35 seconds into the game, setting the tone in a game the Stars dominated. The center added a primary helper on Craig Smith's tally later in the first period. Steel's got some job security for now with Evgenii Dadonov (lower body) out, though Steel hasn't been scratched since November. The 26-year-old is at 18 points, 54 shots on net and a plus-7 rating through 49 appearances in a bottom-six role.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Pots game-winner Tuesday
Steel scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over the Sabres. The 26-year-old banged home the rebound on a Radek Faksa shot midway through the second period to wrap up the scoring on the night. Steel's fantasy upside is limited in a bottom-six role, but he's been quietly productive over the last month with three goals and six points in the last 12 games.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Adds helper Sunday
Steel notched an assist in Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Islanders. Steel has done alright in January with four points, 10 shots on goal and a plus-2 rating over 11 contests. He remains in a bottom-six role, so he shouldn't be expected to be a regular contributor on offense. The 25-year-old is at 14 points, 46 shots on net, 20 hits, 19 PIM and a plus-3 rating through 41 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Tallies shortie
Steel scored a shorthanded goal in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Kings. Steel has two goals, one assist and a plus-4 rating over his last five contests. He saw a season-high 15:18 of ice time Tuesday amid the Stars' significant line shuffling. The 25-year-old shouldn't be expected to maintain a middle-six role, though he could do so if he moves to the wing. Steel has 13 points (three on the penalty kill), 44 shots on net and a plus-4 rating through 38 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Scores against former team
Steel scored a goal on two shots and went plus-3 in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Wild. Steel finished off the win with a tally late in the third period. He's picked up a goal, an assist, four shots on net and a plus-4 rating over the last two games, both against his former team. The 25-year-old can provide some depth scoring on the fourth line, but with 12 points and 43 shots on net through 35 contests, he's best left on the waiver wire in most fantasy formats.... Stars' Sam Steel: Goal, assist in win
Steel scored a goal on two shots, dished an assist, went plus-2 and blocked two shots in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Blackhawks. Steel was initially credited with the first goal of the game, but it was changed to Craig Smith on a tip. The 25-year-old Steel got his goal anyway with an early tally in the second period, his first lamp-lighter since Dec. 2. He's up to 10 points, 36 shots on net, 12 PIM and a plus-1 rating through 30 appearances this season. Steel's done well for a fourth-liner when he plays, but he may still see the occasional scratch if his performance slips.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Chips in with helper
Steel provided an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Blues. Steel has a goal and five helpers over eight games in December. He helped out on a Ty Dellandrea tally in the first period. While Steel's spot in the lineup isn't fully safe, it appears he has the edge over Dellandrea and Craig Smith at this time for playing time on the fourth line. Steel is up to eight points, 31 shots on net and a plus-2 rating through 24 outings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Generates two assists
Steel logged a pair of assists and went plus-2 in Monday's 6-3 win over the Red Wings. Steel continues to play well in December -- he's racked up five points over six games this month despite remaining in a fourth-line role. The 25-year-old's positioning himself well for a promotion in the lineup if another forward is injured or ill. Steel has seven points, 28 shots on goal, 10 PIM and a plus-2 rating over 22 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Assists in consecutive outings
Steel notched an assist in Thursday's 5-4 shootout win over the Capitals. Steel has five points this season, three of which have come over his last four games. The 25-year-old remains in a fourth-line role, but he's earning more trust from head coach Pete DeBoer with the strong play. Steel has added 25 shots on net, 10 PIM and a minus-1 rating over 20 appearances. If his offense stays warm, Steel should maintain his place in the lineup over Ty Dellandrea.... See More ... Stars' Sam Steel: Finds helper in loss
Steel recorded an assist and two PIM in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Panthers. Steel set up a Radek Faksa tally in the first period. Later on, when Tyler Seguin (undisclosed) exited the game, Steel was bumped up to a line with Matt Duchene and Mason Marchment. It's possible that trio sticks together if Seguin misses time. Steel has just four points with 24 shots on net and a minus-1 rating over 19 contests, but he'd have appeal as a speculative addition in deeper fantasy formats if he ends up on the second line for a while.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Adds insurance tally
Steel scored a goal and added two PIM in Saturday's 8-1 win over the Lightning. Steel's two goals this season have come over the last six contests. The 25-year-old has played in seven straight games, and he's been scratched just once since the start of November. He has been solidifying his place on the fourth line. Unfortunately, he is not producing much offense with just three points and 23 shots on net through 17 outings. He also lacks enough of a physical edge to make a difference in most fantasy formats.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Sam Steel: Notches first goal of season
Steel netted a goal in Monday's 6-3 win against the Rangers. Steel deposited an unassisted goal into the empty net at 16:30 to make it 5-2, putting the game out of reach. He ended up with a plus-1 rating and three shots on goal while splitting his two faceoff attempts in 11:42 of ice time across 19 shifts. It was his first goal of the season, and first in the regular season since April 8 at home against the St. Louis Blues.... See More ... See Less
