  • Kyle Tyler SP | MIA

Marlins' Kyle Tyler: Solid in loss

Tyler (0-1) took the loss against the Phillies on Friday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

Tyler opened with four scoreless innings but put runners on the corners with no outs in the fifth. He was able to limit the damage to one run and was pulled with one out to go in the frame at 81 pitches. The Phillies were without recently injured sluggers Bryce Harper (hamstring) and Kyle Schwarber (groin), but Tyler has now allowed three total earned runs with a 6:5 K:BB over 8.2 innings in his first two major-league starts. The 27-year-old likely earned another start next week against the Red Sox.

  • Jhonathan Diaz SP | SEA

Mariners' Jhonathan Diaz: Recalled from Triple-A

The Mariners recalled Diaz from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

Since being sent down to Triple-A on June 12, Diaz has allowed eight runs (six earned) in 11 innings across two starts. The 27-year-old allowed three runs to come across the plate during his spot start against the White Sox, and he'll presumably join the Mariners' rotation temporarily while Bryan Woo (hamstring) is on the injured list. Cody Bolton was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: MRI set for July 6

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that Rodriguez (shoulder) is scheduled for a follow-up MRI on July 6, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Rodriguez extended his throwing program out to 105 feet earlier in June, and Lovullo noted that the southpaw could start throwing off the mound depending on the results of the MRI. Rodriguez has been out all season after straining his left shoulder in spring training, and his initial throwing program was shut down in April due to shoulder tightness.

  • Nationals' Trevor Williams: Still not throwing

Williams (elbow) has yet to start a throwing program, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Williams was placed on the 15-day IL on June 4 with a right flexor strain but remains shut down from throwing. It's safe to assume Williams won't be able to return until after the All-Star break. DJ Herz should continue to make starts in place of Williams.

  • Clarke Schmidt SP | NYY

Yankees' Clarke Schmidt: Resumes throwing program

Manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Schmidt (lat) has resumed his throwing program, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Schmidt took the first step in his throwing program Monday when he started playing catch, per Chris Kirschner of The Athletic. Schmidt was transferred to the 60-day injured list June 18 with a right lat strain, and before the injury he was 5-3 over 11 starts with a 2.52 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 67:20 K:BB over 60.2 innings.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Next start set for Tuesday

Crawford's next start will come on Tuesday in Miami after his last outing was suspended by rain, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Crawford threw only 23 pitches over 1.1 scoreless innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays before inclement weather forced any early end to his night. Despite the righty's limited workload in that outing, the Red Sox have elected to give Crawford five days of rest before his next start. He's tentatively lined up for two starts next week, as a date with the Yankees looms next weekend.

  • Martin Perez SP | PIT

    Pirates' Martin Perez: Officially activated

Perez (groin) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list and will start Friday's game against Atlanta.

Perez has been shelved since May 28 due to a strained left groin and after making one rehab start, he'll rejoin the big-league club and start Friday's game. In his lone minor-league appearance, Perez threw 63 pitches, so he'll likely be on a pitch count Friday. Prior to the injury, Perez owned a 4.71 ERA across 57.1 innings with Pittsburgh.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Padres' Joe Musgrove: Moved to 60-day IL

Musgrove (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Transferring Musgrove to the 60-day IL opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Austin Davis, who'll join the big-league roster. Though Musgrove began playing catch Monday, he still has plenty of checkpoints to hi before being cleared and likely won't be back in action until after the All-Star break.

  • Steven Matz SP | STL

Cardinals' Steven Matz: Shifted to 60-day IL

Matz (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

The Cardinals had to clear up a spot on the 40-man roster for Gordon Graceffo to be called up and opted to push Matz to the 60-day IL to create the opening. Considering Matz was put on the injured list May 3, his move to the 60-day injured list won't impact his timeline for return. The 33-year-old was shut down from throwing for two weeks June 22.

  • Corbin Burnes SP | BAL

Orioles' Corbin Burnes: Placed on paternity leave list

The Orioles placed Burnes on the paternity leave list Friday.

Burnes will likely be away for the remainder of the series against the Rangers as he welcomes a new addition to the family. The righty started Thursday's series opener and should be back in time for his next turn, which is tentatively lined up to come next week in Seattle.
