Monasterio went 0-for-1 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Giants.
Monasterio has seen little playing time while occupying a short-side platoon role since the All-Star break. He's gone 5-for-22 over his last 14 contests while serving as an infield depth option. Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Losing work with Ortiz back
Monasterio is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.
Monasterio had seen a surge in playing time in late June, but his starts will likely be more sparse moving forward after Joey Ortiz was reinstated from the injured list Friday. With Ortiz taking back everyday duties at third base, Monasterio will fill a utility role moving forward and will likely draw most of his starts against left-handed pitching.

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Swipes bag in win
Monasterio went 2-for-3 with a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 9-0 win over the Pirates.
Monasterio has a pair of multi-hit efforts over seven games in July, but he's gone hitless in four other contests this month. The infielder is slashing a meager .200/.286/.267 with one home run, nine RBI, nine runs scored and four stolen bases across 84 plate appearances. While Joey Ortiz (neck) is on the injured list, Monasterio has shared third base with Vinny Capra, though neither player has done much with their extra playing time.

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Sitting Tuesday
Monasterio isn't in the Brewers' lineup Tuesday versus Pittsburgh.
Monasterio has struggled since taking over for Joey Ortiz (neck) as Milwaukee's primary third baseman, going just 2-for-15 at the plate in his last four games. He'll give way to Vinny Capra on Tuesday, who will bat ninth while manning the hot corner.

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Pulled from lineup Sunday
Monasterio was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the White Sox.
The 27-year-old was scheduled to bat ninth as the designated hitter, but William Contreras and Willy Adames were late additions to the lineup after initially being scheduled for days off. Monasterio should continue to operate as a bench bat while seeing some stars against left-handed pitching.

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Leads off against lefty again
Monasterio started at second base and went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 1-0 loss to the Marlins.
Monasterio started in each of the Brewers' three games in Miami and led off the past two contests, reaching base four times while contributing a home run and a stolen base during that stretch. Milwaukee faced lefty starters in each of those contests, so while Monasterio looks like he'll remain a key part of the lineup in those matchups, he's still operating in the short side of a platoon at second base with the lefty-hitting Brice Turang.

He's slashing .243/.362/.297 with seven runs, two doubles, six steals and four RBI over 47 plates appearances in Triple-A this season. The Brewers optioned Monasterio to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
Monasterio was up with the big club over the weekend while Jake Bauers (personal) was on the bereavement list, but Monasterio will now return to Nashville with Bauers back in tow for Monday's game versus the Pirates. The infielder didn't appear in a game during his latest stint in the majors.

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Sent to minors
The Brewers optioned Monasterio to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.
The 26-year-old has just nine plate appearances through the first couple weeks of the season, so he'll head to Triple-A with Milwaukee in need of outfield depth while Christian Yelich (back) is banged up. Monasterio will be a top candidate to rejoin the Brewers when infield depth is needed.

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Handling third base in opener
Monasterio is starting at third base and batting ninth in Friday's opener against the Mets.
The 26-year-old is part of a lineup loaded with righties and switch hitters versus southpaw Jose Quintana. Monasterio slashed .291/.387/.392 against left-handers last season.

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Secures roster spot
The Brewers informed Monasterio on Monday that he'll be included on the Opening Day roster, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Monasterio will be part of his first Opening Day roster after he impressed the Brewers with his on-base skills and defensive versatility last season upon receiving his first call to the big leagues in late May. While picking up 77 total starts between second base, third base and shortstop, Monasterio slashed .259/.330/.348 across 315 plate appearances. Though injuries to other infielders helped him secure steady playing time for much of his time in the big leagues last season, Monasterio is likely to handle a short-side platoon role to begin 2024. He'll be a candidate to replace Brice Turang at second base or Sal Frelick at third base when the Brewers face left-handed pitching.

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Continues solid play in spring
Monasterio went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Cincinnati.
The 26-year-old has impressed in the spring thus far, hitting .364 with a .728 OPS over 11 at-bats. It's hard to imagine the utility infielder pushing out promising prospect Brice Turang or stalwart shortstop Willy Adames, but it's possible Monasterio could initially start at third base over Joey Ortiz, who was acquired in the beginning of February as part of the Corbin Burnes trade to Baltimore. Monasterio played in 92 games for the Brewers last season and had a .259/.330/.348 slash line in 315 plate appearances.

Monasterio started 21 straight games from Aug. 23 through Sept. 15, but he now finds himself out of the lineup for the second time in three days. Josh Donaldson will man the hot corner for a third straight game and could continue cutting into Monasterio's playing time.

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Day off Saturday
Monasterio will sit Saturday against the Nationals.
Monasterio has settled into an everyday role in the second half, with Saturday's off day being just his third since the break. His bat has been sub-par for an everyday corner infielder, however, as his .270/.344/.369 slash line is good for a modest 97 wRC+. Josh Donaldson will take over at the hot corner Saturday.

Monasterio went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 8-2 victory over the Yankees.
Monasterio led off the seventh with a double, then scored what would turn out to be the game-winning run on a William Contreras single. His second double drove in two and provided insurance as the Brewers pulled away for the win. Monasterio has started every game at third base for the Brewers since Aug. 23, and has swung a hot bat since the calendar turned to September, batting .400 with 10 hits in 25 at-bats.

Monasterio went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-4 victory versus San Diego.
Monasterio plated Milwaukee's first run with a single in the fifth inning. He was moved to second on a fielder's choice, then came around to score after stealing third base and drawing a throwing error by Padres catcher Luis Campusano. Monasterio came into Saturday in the midst of a 2-for-30 stretch over his previous eight contests, though he's been able to maintain a near-everyday role in the Brewers' lineup.

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Sitting amid struggles
Monasterio is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Twins.
Monasterio is stuck in a 1-for-22 slump and has posted an overall .200/.288/.323 batting line in 73 plate appearances since the calendar flipped to August. Brian Anderson will play third base and hit ninth for Milwaukee on Tuesday against Minnesota.

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Goes deep during loss
Monasterio went 3-for-4 with a home run and a stolen base during Tuesday's loss to Colorado.
Monasterio was slashing just .174/.296/.217 during August heading into Tuesday's contest, but he was finally able to break out of his slump against the Rockies. The 26-year-old infielder has never hit more than nine home runs in a season throughout his professional career, so his seventh-inning blast off Kyle Freeland isn't something that should be expected from Monasterio going forward. However, he's demonstrated an above-average ability to get on base with a .367 OBP through 158 plate appearances.
