  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Quiet game on seven carries

Edwards rushed seven times for 22 yards and was not targeted as a receiver in Saturday's 32-12 wild-card round loss to the Texans. Edwards teamed up with co-starter J.K. Dobbins (ankle) to overcome ankle issues in order to start Saturday's disappointing playoff loss to Houston. Neither tailback could generate any running room when the game was close, resulting in the longtime teammates being phased out of the second-half game plan as the Chargers began desperately throwing from behind. Dobbins finished the season as the club's top producer and preferred fantasy option while Edwards logged a career-worst 3.6 YPC in 11 active contests. The former is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason while the latter still has one season remaining on the two-year contract signed in 2024.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Active along with Dobbins

Both Edwards (ankle) and J.K. Dobbins (ankle) are listed as active for Saturday's wild-card contest at Houston, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports. The running backs were limited participants on the first two practice reports of the week due to ankle issues, and while Dobbins remained that way Thursday and was listed as questionable heading into the weekend, Edwards was a full participant to cap the week and avoided a designation for the Chargers' postseason opener. With Dobbins now confirmed to be available as well Saturday, the team's top two options at the position likely will split the RB reps between them, while Hassan Haskins is on hand for any work that lingers.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Cleared for wild-card round

Edwards (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Saturday's wild-card game at Houston. Edwards missed the Chargers' final two games of the regular season with the ankle injury, but he's been cleared for the postseason opener after turning in a full practice Thursday following a pair of limited sessions Tuesday and Wednesday. Meanwhile, top back J.K. Dobbins (ankle) -- who was a limited practice participant throughout the week -- carries a questionable tag into Saturday's contest. If Dobbins ends up sitting out the wild-card contest or is available only in a limited capacity, Edwards would presumably lead the Chargers' ground attack, while Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal would be on hand as change-of-pace options. The Chargers could also choose to elevate Ezekiel Elliott or Jaret Patterson from the practice squad if there's any concern about Dobbins' availability.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Logs another limited practice

Edwards (ankle) remained a limited participant at practice Wednesday. Edwards, who missed the Chargers' last two regular-season games, thus has one more chance to practice fully ahead of Saturday's wild-card contest against the Texans. Meanwhile, fellow running back J.K. Dobbins (ankle) also logged his second consecutive limited session, which sets the stage for Thursday's final injury report to be an important one in determining the composition of the Los Angeles backfield this weekend. If either Edwards or Dobbins are out versus Houston, added snaps would be available for Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal. The Chargers also have Ezekiel Elliott and Jaret Patterson on hand as candidates to be elevated from the practice squad.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Still not practicing

Edwards (ankle) wasn't spotted at practice Thursday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Edwards, who was inactive for the Chargers' Week 17 win over the Patriots, also didn't practice Wednesday, so he'll probably need to be a full participant in Friday's session in order to approach Sunday's game against the Raiders without an injury designation. Even if Edwards is available this weekend, his fantasy upside would be modest, given that J.K. Dobbins has reclaimed his role as Los Angeles' lead back.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Not ready to return to practice

Edwards (ankle) isn't practicing Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Edwards missed the Chargers' final two practices last week due to the ankle issue and then didn't end up playing in Saturday's 40-7 win over the Patriots. It's not clear how serious the injury is, but the veteran running back will likely need to practice in some capacity by the end of this week in order to have a realistic chance of suiting up Sunday versus Las Vegas. Edwards' absence last weekend was soothed by the return of J.K. Dobbins, who was activated off injured reserve and reclaimed his role as Los Angeles' No. 1 running back.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Won't play Week 17

The Chargers have ruled Edwards (ankle) out for Saturday's game against the Patriots. Per Kris Rhim of ESPN.com, head coach Jim Harbaugh said that Edwards emerged from the Chargers' Week 16 win over the Broncos with the ankle injury, then aggravated it in practice earlier this week, causing him to sit out sessions Wednesday and Thursday. Given that Edwards previously missed four games earlier this season while on injured reserve due to another ankle issue, the Chargers' decision to hold him out for Saturday's contest isn't especially surprising. His absence currently leaves Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins as the lone healthy options at running back on the active roster, though J.K. Dobbins (knee) -- who is listed as questionable -- could be activated from IR ahead of Saturday's game and settle back in as Los Angeles' lead option out of the backfield.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Limited by ankle injury

Edwards was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice due to an ankle injury. Though the Chargers have a lengthier turnaround for Saturday's game at New England after playing Thursday night in Week 16, the extra time off apparently wasn't enough for Edwards to participate fully in practice to begin Week 17 prep. The Chargers didn't provide any indication that Edwards tweaked his ankle in the 34-27 win over the Broncos last week, so it's possible that the injury might have been something that popped up in Tuesday's practice. In any case, Edwards' activity in practice the next two days bears monitoring before the Chargers will have to decide whether he takes an injury designation into Saturday.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Struggles in one-sided loss

Edwards rushed eight times for 23 yards and was not targeted as a receiver in Sunday's 40-17 loss to the Buccaneers. Edwards couldn't get anything going on the ground, resulting in a mediocre 2.9 yards per carry. The power back isn't tailored for an offense trying to come back from a large deficit like the Chargers were Sunday. The 29-year-old has struggled in three starts since taking over for J.K. Dobbins (knee), averaging a meager 30.3 yards per game over that span. Edwards needs to show some life against the Broncos on Thursday or he may begin losing snaps to rookie Kimani Vidal.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: RBs to Sit

Edwards did not take advantage of J.K. Dobbins (knee) being out in Week 13 at Atlanta with six carries for 32 yards and one catch for 1 yard on one target. He's yet to score more than 7.1 PPR points in any game this season, which includes scoring a touchdown in Week 12 against Baltimore and having two games with at least 12 total touches. I'd love to see the Chargers give rookie Kimani Vidal more work with Dobbins on injured reserve, but this is a bad matchup for both in Week 14 at the Chiefs. Kansas City is No. 1 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, and only five running backs have scored more than 12 PPR points against the Chiefs this season. Edwards is a borderline flex option at best in most leagues in Week 14.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Sleeper RBs

J.K. Dobbins (knee) is out for Week 13 at Atlanta, and Edwards and likely Kimani Vidal will share carries for the Chargers. Edwards will be the lead running back, and he should get at least 15 total touches. He won't do much in the passing game, which limits his upside in PPR, but seven running backs have scored at least 15.3 PPR points against the Falcons in the past six games. If Edwards finds the end zone, then he will deliver as a strong flex option in all leagues. And in deeper leagues, Vidal is worth using as a flex option as well.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Week 13 Adds (RB Preview)

If J.K. Dobbins misses Week 13, then we project Gus Edwards to be the lead back for the Chargers in Week 13. Edwards scored a late touchdown against Baltimore in Week 12 and should be the team's short yardage and early downs back. The reason he's not my top priority is that he's never been a pass catcher and the Falcons have been stingy on the ground. No back has 100 yards rushing against them this season and they've only given up three rushing touchdowns to running backs all year.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Short TD in place of starter

Edwards rushed nine times for 11 yards and a touchdown while not hauling in his only target in Monday's 30-23 loss to the Ravens. Starter J.K. Dobbins went down with a knee injury in the first half of Monday's narrow defeat, affording Edwards extra play in the second half. The 29-year-old Edwards didn't post big numbers outside of a short touchdown run, but he could be worth considering if Dobbins is forced to miss time. If that becomes the case, Edwards would make a great add in leagues where he is available ahead of next Sunday's tilt against Atlanta.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Week 12 Waiver Priority List

Edwards didn't have a big game in Week 11 against Cincinnati with six carries for 27 yards and no targets, but I still want to roster him as a potential lottery ticket behind J.K. Dobbins. While Dobbins has been a star this season, averaging 15.1 PPR points per game, this is uncharted territory for him with a career-high 152 carries through 10 games. If Dobbins were to miss any time then Edwards could be a starting Fantasy option in all leagues, and he's worth adding for 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Not involved much in win

Edwards tallied six carries for 27 yards in a 34-27 win over the Bengals on Sunday. J.K. Dobbins once again saw the lion's share of the workload (11 carries, 56 yards and two touchdowns) and even Hassan Haskins was given multiple goal-line totes, although he floundered with the opportunity. Edwards' fantasy value is likely dependent on the health of Dobbins, who has already surpassed his career high in carries (134) and has averaged under 4.0 yards a carry in four of his past six contests.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Cleared for Week 11

Edwards (ankle) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday night's game against the Bengals after practicing fully Friday. Edwards was on the field for 15 snaps and logged 10 carries for 55 yards in his return from a four-game absence in this past Sunday's 27-17 win over the Titans. While the running back was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday, his return to a full session Friday paves the way for him to be available this weekend. Though Edwards isn't a factor in the Chargers' passing attack, he figures to earn enough carries alongside J.K. Dobbins (39 snaps, 15 carries in Week 10) going forward to merit attention in deeper fantasy formats.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Limited at practice Wednesday

Edwards (ankle) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday. In his return from a four-game absence due to an ankle injury in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Titans, Edwards logged 15 snaps and carried the ball 10 times for 55 yards. With no reported setbacks coming out of the contest, Edwards' limitations Wednesday may have just been a case of workload management. The running back now has two more chances to upgrade to full practice participation ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Week 11 Waiver Priority List

Edwards returned from his four-game absence with an ankle injury in Week 10 against Tennessee and immediately made an impact with 10 carries for 55 yards. He will work in tandem with J.K. Dobbins, and Edwards has lottery-ticket upside if Dobbins were to miss any time. Just keep in mind that Edwards has one catch for 2 yards on one target this season, but he could be a flex option if he continues to get double digits in touches on a weekly basis. He's worth adding for 5-10 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Effective runner in return

Edwards carried the ball 10 times for 55 yards in the 27-17 win over the Titans on Sunday. It was a productive return for Edwards, who missed the previous four games due to an ankle injury. The bruising running back saw three red-zone carries, but most of them came closer to the 10-yard line as opposed to true goal-line work. Hassan Haskins was also given a chance to stick it to his former team, punching a one-yard touchdown in on the team's final touchdown drive that effectively ended the game. Edwards was looked at on the sideline by trainers briefly in the second half, and his production did fall off in the final 30 minutes, but that could easily be attributed to the Chargers wanting to get J.K. Dobbins the lion's share of the running back platoon.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Questionable for Week 10

Edwards (ankle) practiced fully Friday and carries a questionable game status for Sunday's contest against the Titans. The Chargers designated Edwards for return from injured reserve Wednesday, and the running back could resume action as soon as this weekend if the team elects to activate him by Saturday afternoon. If Edwards does rejoin the mix in Week 10, in his return he'd presumably work in a complementary role in a Los Angeles backfield that's led by J.K. Dobbins and also includes sixth-round rookie Kimani Vidal.
