Edvinsson was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Wednesday. Edvinsson had a goal and an assist in 16 contests with Detroit this season. He also has recorded eight goals and 29 points in 52 games with Grand Rapids. The Red Wings' campaign is over, but he should be a serious contender for a roster spot with the big club during training camp. The Red Wings took him No. 6 overall in the 2021 NHL Draft.... Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Called up Tuesday
Edvinsson was elevated from AHL Grand Rapids on Tuesday. Edvinsson's promotion could be an indication that there is an injury on the blue line ahead of Tuesday's clash with Columbus. While the 20-year-old blueliner has appeared in just two NHL games this season, he has been thriving in the minors with eight goals and 21 assists in 52 games for the Griffins.... See More ... Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Named to AHL All-Star team
Edvinsson will represent the Griffins for the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic in San Jose on Feb 4-5, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Edvinsson is a big-time prospect for the Wings having been drafted by the Original Six club with the sixth overall pick in 2021. The 6-foot-6, 209-pound blueliner has 11 career NHL appearances under his belt since debuting last year, supplying two goals and an assist over that span. For now, Edvinsson seems better off in the minor league where he can log heavy minutes and continue to sharpen his skills in the professional ranks, albeit in a lower-pressure setting. He's fashioned 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) through 30 games with the Griffins in 2023-24.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Sent back to minors
Edvinsson was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Thursday. Edvinsson's demotion comes as both Jeff Petry and Olli Maatta are expected to return from upper-body injuries against Nashville on Friday. Barring additional injury concerns on the blue line, Edvinsson figures to spend most of the remainder of the campaign in the minors where he has racked up 16 points in 25 contests.... See More ... Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Playing two more games
Edvinsson will play Saturday versus Pittsburgh and then one of three games next week, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. By playing only twice the rest of the season, Edvinsson will have made only nine appearances this season, avoiding the loss of one year in his entry-level contract. The first-round pick in 2021 - fifth overall - Edvinsson has a bright future on the Detroit blue line.... See More ... See Less -

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Not in lineup for matinee
Edvinsson isn't in the lineup against the Flyers on Saturday, as he appears to be a healthy scratch. The Red Wings have Gustav Lindstrom slotted in as a third-pairing defenseman, which might irk fans of the Winged Wheel who want to see more from a prized rookie in Edvinsson, who scored his first NHL goal Thursday against the Blues.... Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: First NHL goal
Edvinsson scored a goal in a 4-3 loss to the Blues on Thursday. He also took two minor penalties. Edvinsson put the Wings up 1-0 just 38 seconds into the game when his centering pass from the left face-off circle ricocheted off the skate of Justin Faulk and past Joel Hofer. But the sixth overall pick (2021) will only remember the goal and not how it went in. It was his third NHL game. His upside is strong.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Good to play Thursday
Edvinsson (lower body) is slated to play Thursday versus St. Louis, according to Ansar Khan of MLive.com. Edvinsson missed Tuesday's game because of the injury. He's a top prospect, but has no points, one shot, a minus-1 rating and two PIM while averaging just 14:56 of ice time through two games with Detroit. The 20-year-old is projected to play on the third pairing with Jordan Oesterle on Thursday.... See More ... See Less -
