Top Golden Knights News

  • Golden Knights' Zach Whitecloud: On ice for practice Friday

Whitecloud (rest) participated in Friday's practice session, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports, indicating that he'll be available for Sunday's Game 1 against the Wild.

Whitecloud sat out Wednesday's regular-season finale against Vancouver due to rest purposes, but he'll unsurprisingly be back in action for the start of the playoffs. He recorded four goals, nine assists, 129 hits, 105 blocked shots and 32 PIM while averaging 17:31 of ice time over 74 appearances during the regular season.

  • Golden Knights' Mark Stone: Expected to return for Game 1

Stone (rest) is slated to return for Game 1 of Vegas' first-round series against Minnesota on Sunday, per Jesse Granger of The Athletic.

Stone skipped the final two games of the regular season so that he'd be rested for the playoffs. He recorded 19 goals and 67 points in 66 regular-season outings in 2024-25. Stone is projected to start the playoffs on the first line alongside Ivan Barbashev and Jack Eichel.

  • Golden Knights' Noah Hanifin: Returning to action Sunday

Hanifin (rest) will be back in the lineup versus Minnesota on Sunday, per Jesse Granger of The Athletic.

Hanifin sat out the last two games of the season. He ended the regular season with 10 goals and 29 assists in 80 games, including 10 points on the power play.

  • Golden Knights' Ivan Barbashev: Back in action Sunday

Barbashev (rest) will return to the lineup Sunday versus Minnesota, according to Jesse Granger of The Athletic.

Barbashev sat out Wednesday's finale versus Vancouver due to rest. He had 23 goals and 51 points in 70 regular-season games this season. He will play on the top line alongside Jack Eichel and Mark Stone.

  • Golden Knights' Tomas Hertl: Participates in Friday's practice

Hertl (rest) was on the ice for Friday's practice session, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports, indicating that he should be back in action for Sunday's Game 1 against the Wild.

Hertl missed Wednesday's regular-season finale against the Canucks due to rest purposes, but he'll be back in action for the start of the playoffs. He made 73 appearances for the Golden Knights this year, logging 32 goals, 29 assists, 99 hits and 56 blocked shots while averaging 17:07 of ice time.

  • Golden Knights' Brandon Saad: Slated to return for Game 1

Saad (rest) should be in the lineup for Game 1 of Vegas' first-round series against Minnesota, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.

Saad had 13 goals and 30 points in 72 regular-season appearances between St. Louis and Vegas in 2024-25. He'll likely serve in a bottom-six capacity during the playoffs.

  • Golden Knights' Brett Howden: Delivers helper in win

Howden notched an assist, two shots on goal, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks.

Howden got a look on the top line since Ivan Barbashev was rested for this contest. The 27-year-old Howden has fit in all over the lineup this season, filling whatever role necessary. He's earned three points over the last three games and has a total of 40 points (23 goals, 17 helpers), 125 shots on net, 121 hits, 56 blocked shots, 46 PIM and a plus-17 rating over 80 regular-season outings. Versatility is a gift and a curse -- he's one of the most likely players to move around the lineup whenever head coach Bruce Cassidy shuffles his lines.

  • Golden Knights' William Karlsson: Contributes assist

Karlsson notched an assist and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks.

Karlsson posted two goals and three assists over the last six games of the regular season. While injuries interrupted his 2024-25 campaign, Karlsson was decent when he played, earning 29 points, 119 shots on net, 37 blocked shots and a plus-17 rating over 53 appearances. The veteran center will likely play more of a two-way role in the postseason, likely on the third line, so his offense may not be very strong, but he'll make up for it with defensive effort.

  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Earns first two helpers of season

Hutton logged two assists and two blocked shots in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks.

Hutton helped out on third-period goals by Pavel Dorofeyev and Jack Eichel. These were Hutton's first two points in 11 contests this season. He added 11 shots on net, 10 hits, 19 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating. The 31-year-old defenseman played in the last five games of the regular season, but it's expected he'll be a healthy scratch for the vast majority of the Golden Knights' playoff run.

  • Golden Knights' Shea Theodore: Dishes pair of assists

Theodore logged two assists, two shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks.

Theodore didn't get any rest late in the campaign -- perhaps because he missed a month after the 4 Nations Face-Off due to an arm injury. The 29-year-old defenseman looks ready for the playoffs after earning nine assists over 12 outings since his return to the lineup. Overall, he finished the regular season with seven goals, 50 assists, 128 shots on net, 82 blocked shots and a plus-19 rating over 67 appearances in a career year on offense. He'll be in a top-four role with power-play time in the postseason.

  • Golden Knights' Cole Schwindt: Gets first NHL goal

Schwindt scored an empty-net goal and added three hits in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks.

As expected, the Golden Knights rested some regulars Wednesday, allowing Schwindt to play for the fourth time since the start of March. The 23-year-old scored the Golden Knights' last goal of the regular season, and it was his first NHL goal, coming in his 49th appearance. He produced eight points, 32 shots on net, 41 hits, 17 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in 2024-25. Assuming there are no lingering injuries at forward heading into the playoffs, Schwindt is poised to spend most of the postseason as a healthy scratch.

  • Golden Knights' Jack Eichel: Pots goal in return

Eichel scored a goal on two shots and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks.

Eichel missed four games due to an upper-body injury. He led all Vegas forwards with 21:28 of ice time in the regular-season finale, so there's no need to be worried about his health entering the playoffs. The 28-year-old finished with a career-high 94 points (28 goals, 66 assists) while adding 233 shots on net, 55 blocked shots and a plus-32 rating over 77 appearances. He'll be a massive part of the Golden Knights' offense in the first round versus the Wild.

  • Golden Knights' Pavel Dorofeyev: Reaches 35-goal mark

Dorofeyev scored a goal on six shots and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks.

Dorofeyev scored in the last two games of the regular season, giving him 35 tallies on the year. Seven of those goals were game-winners for the winger, who enjoyed a breakout season at 24 years old. He concludes the regular season with 52 points, 253 shots on net, 30 PIM and a plus-2 rating over 82 appearances. Dorofeyev will be a power-play threat as well as a top-six forward to begin the playoffs.

  • Golden Knights' Victor Olofsson: Goal, assist in win

Olofsson scored a goal on three shots and added an assist in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks.

Olofsson got the Golden Knights on the board late in the second period and set up Pavel Dorofeyev on the go-ahead goal in the third. The 29-year-old Olofsson missed two games due to an illness in April but still had four points over his last five outings. He'll be getting his first taste of the Stanley Cup Playoffs this spring, and he should continue to occupy a middle-six role with power-play time for the Golden Knights. He had 15 goals, 29 points, 109 shots on net and a plus-16 rating over 56 appearances in the regular season.

... See More ... See Less
  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Light work in win

Schmid stopped 16 of 17 shots in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks.

Schmid wasn't all that busy in the contest. Pius Suter opened the scoring for the Canucks, but the Golden Knights bounced back with a third-period tally to claim the win. Schmid went 2-0-1 with five goals allowed on 90 shots over his five NHL appearances this season. Since AHL Henderson missed the minor-league playoffs, expect Schmid to stay in the NHL as extra goaltending depth during the postseason.

  • Golden Knights' Zach Whitecloud: Out of action for finale

Whitecloud (rest) won't play Wednesday versus the Canucks, Ryan Wallis of Fox Sports Las Vegas reports.

Whitecloud doesn't appear to be dealing with an injury. He'll get a game off to end the regular season after posting 13 hits, 72 shots on net, 117 hits and 103 blocked shots over 74 appearances. Whitecloud will likely be on the third pairing for most of the postseason, likely at the expense of Kaedan Korczak's playing time.

... See More ... See Less
  • Golden Knights' Ivan Barbashev: Taking day off

Barbashev (rest) won't be in the lineup Wednesday versus the Canucks, Ryan Wallis of Fox Sports Las Vegas reports.

Barbashev ends the regular season at 51 points in 70 games, his second-best output in his nine-year career. The 29-year-old should be back in a top-six role when the playoffs begin.

... See More ... See Less
  • Golden Knights' Brandon Saad: Resting Wednesday

Saad (rest) won't play Wednesday versus the Canucks, Ryan Wallis of Fox Sports Las Vegas reports.

Saad put up three points in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Flames, so he's earned a little rest. He ended the regular season with 30 points in 72 games between the Golden Knights and the Blues.

... See More ... See Less
  • Golden Knights' Noah Hanifin: Out again Wednesday

Hanifin (rest) won't play Wednesday versus the Canucks, Ryan Wallis of Fox Sports Las Vegas reports.

Hanifin will be out of action for the second game in a row to end the regular season. The 28-year-old should be right back in a top-four role when the Golden Knights face the Wild in Game 1 of the playoffs.
