  • Kraken's Kim Saarinen: Pens entry-level pact

Saarinen signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Seattle on Sunday.

Saarinen posted a 1-0-1 record with a 2.46 GAA and a .909 save percentage in two regular-season outings with HPK of Finland's Liiga in 2023-24. He spent most of the campaign playing for HPK's junior teams. The Kraken chose the 17-year-old netminder with the No. 88 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Saarinen is expected to return to Finland for the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Kraken's Eeli Tolvanen: Signs two-year deal

Tolvanen inked a two-year, $6.95 million contract with the Kraken on Friday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Tolvanen had a career-best 41 points in 81 regular-season appearances with Seattle in 2023-24. The 25-year-old is slated to be a middle-six forward, but he will see plenty of power-play time, including with the first unit, next season.

  • Kraken's Berkly Catton: Signs entry-level contract

Catton signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Kraken on Friday.

Catton was selected eighth overall in the 2024 Draft. The talented center had a breakout campaign in 2023-24, scoring 54 goals and adding 62 assists in 68 regular-season games with WHL Spokane. The 18-year-old will head to training camp with the Kraken, but it's likely that he will be returned to Spokane for the 2024-25 season.

  • Kraken's Josh Mahura: Inks one-year deal with Seattle

Mahura signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Kraken on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Mahura filled a depth role with the Panthers last year, but he didn't draw into a playoff game. He made just 30 regular-season appearances, picking up nine assists, 40 hits, 27 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating. He'll join fellow former Panther Brandon Montour in Seattle, but Mahura is likely to have to settle for being a seventh or eighth defenseman depending on how Ryker Evans performs in training camp.

  • Kraken's Mitchell Stephens: Inks two-year deal

Stephens signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Kraken on Monday.

Stephens had two goals and three points in 23 contests with Montreal in 2023-24. He also recorded 13 goals and 35 points in 49 regular-season outings with AHL Laval. The 27-year-old will likely start 2024-25 in the minors.

  • Kraken's Brandon Biro: Inks two-way deal

Biro signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Kraken on Monday.

Biro pocketed two goals in five games with the Sabres last season. He spent most of the year with AHL Rochester, tallying 47 points in 64 games across the regular season and playoffs. He'll likely spend most of the 2024-25 campaign with AHL Coachella Valley.

  • Kraken's Nikolas Brouillard: Joining Seattle

Brouillard signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Kraken on Monday.

Brouillard has spent the last four years in the AHL and has yet to make his NHL debut. Last season, he scored 38 points across 80 games between the regular season and playoffs with AHL Hartford. The 29-year-old blueliner will likely spend the 2024-25 campaign with AHL Coachella Valley.

  • Kraken's Ben Meyers: Inks one-year agreement

Meyers signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Kraken on Monday.

Meyers recorded a goal and three points in 23 regular-season contests between Colorado and Anaheim in 2023-24. He also had 11 goals and 25 points in 32 AHL appearances with the Eagles. Meyers has a significant shot of making Seattle's roster out of training camp since he's on a one-way deal, but he may be a frequent healthy scratch if the team's prospects can stick at the NHL level.

  • Kraken's Max Lajoie: Lands two-way deal

Lajoie signed a one-year, two-way contract with Seattle on Monday.

Lajoie notched one assist in seven games with the Maple Leafs last year. He also scored 24 points in 51 regular-season games with AHL Toronto. The 26-year-old could split time between Seattle and AHL Coachella Valley during the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Kraken's Chandler Stephenson: Signs long-term deal

Stephenson secured a seven-year, $43.75 million contract with Seattle on Monday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.

Stephenson is coming off a relatively disappointing year, as he missed out on a third straight 60-point campaign. The 30-year-old center managed to rack up 16 goals and 35 assists, including 13 power-play points, in 75 regular-season contests for the Golden Knights. The Kraken have plenty of center depth in the top six with Matty Beniers and Jared McCann, not to mention youngster Shane Wright, so Stephenson or someone else will have move to the wing. That shouldn't prevent him from pushing for 20 goals and 60 points this season while playing in a top-six role in 2024-25.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Signing seven-year deal

Montour agreed to terms on a seven-year, $49.98 million contract with Seattle on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Montour was reportedly linked to a move to Utah before the team traded for Mikhail Sergachev on Saturday. Still, the 30-year-old Montour was able to cash in with a long-term deal, one that could be the last of his career. Injuries limited the Ontario native to just 66 regular-season games this past year, in which he generated 33 points, but he was a mainstay in the lineup during the postseason. In the playoffs, Montour averaged 22:39 of ice time, playing in all 24 games while tallying 11 points, including three with the man advantage.

Stezka made his AHL debut last season after coming over from the Czech league. He posted an impressive 2.48 GAA and .914 save percentage during 27 regular-season appearances. The 27-year-old will likely spend most of the 2024-25 campaign with AHL Coachella Valley.

  • Kraken's Max McCormick: Signs two-year deal

McCormick racked up 32 goals and 60 points in 68 AHL games last season and made just one appearance at the NHL level. He hs 94 games of experience at the top level but hasn't played more than 10 NHL games in a season since the 2020-21 campaign. He'll continue providing organizational depth in Seattle.

Henman signed a one-year, two-way contract with Seattle on Sunday.

Henman scored 14 points in 45 AHL contests last season and has yet to make his NHL debut. He'll likely fill a similar organizational depth role during the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Kraken's John Hayden: Staying in Seattle

Hayden signed a one-year, $775,000 deal with the Kraken on Sunday.

Hayden scored 15 goals and 26 points in 65 AHL games but appeared in just two NHL contests. He has 249 games of NHL experience and could compete for a depth role with the Kraken ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Kraken's Clarke Caswell: Joins Seattle prospect pool

Caswell was the 141st overall pick by the Kraken in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

A true playmaker in every sense of the word, Caswell has been on the prospect map for quite a while. He was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft and led a good Swift Current team in scoring (26 goals and 77 points in 68 games) this past season. While the offensive skills are intriguing, there's a real chance Caswell's skill set won't translate to the professional ranks. He's undersized (5-foot-11, 170 pounds), not all that fast, and tends to play too much on the perimeter. Still, his vision and hockey sense make him an intriguing addition to the Seattle prospect pool.

  • Kraken's Kim Saarinen: Finnish goalie heads to Seattle

Saarinen was the 88th overall pick by the Kraken in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

The Kraken added another goaltending prospect to a growing system during Day 2 of the 2024 NHL Draft on Saturday. Plenty of knowledgeable people felt Saarinen was one of the better ones available in this class. At 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds, he not only has the size but possesses plenty of quickness, particularly side-to-side. Saarinen mostly played in the Finnish junior league last season but did get into two games in the top-tier Liiga. He should get more time there this coming season to give prospect evaluators a better idea of his long-term potential.

  • Kraken's Alexis Bernier: Round 3 pick of Seattle

Bernier was the 73rd overall pick by the Kraken in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

Bernier logged big minutes for QMJHL Baie-Comeau last season, but his offensive numbers (four goals and 31 points in 64 games) were lacking. He was a bit better in the playoffs, with nine points in 17 outings. Bernier is a steady rearguard, keeping things simple and making good outlet passes. He rarely puts his teammates in trouble. There doesn't appear to be a ton of upside here, but with a late June birthday, Bernier has more runway than some other prospects in this year's draft.

  • Kraken's Nathan Villeneuve: Surprise pick late in Round 2

Villeneuve was the 63rd overall pick by the Kraken in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

This seems like a reach for the Kraken given where Villeneuve was expected to be selected, but the club has done a pretty nice job with their draft picks the last few years. Villeneuve averaged less than a point-per-game (23 goals, 50 points in 56 games) for OHL Sudbury a season ago, but he's known more as a responsible defensive center than a point producer. It will be interesting to see if his offensive game can develop a bit in the coming years.

  • Kraken's Julius Miettinen: CHL import picked by Kraken

Miettinen was the 40th overall pick by the Kraken in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

A first-round pick in the 2023 CHL Import Draft, Miettinen crossed the pond and joined WHL Everett for this past season. He ended up averaging more than a point per game (31 goals, 66 points in 67 games) and got better as the year progressed. There's an intriguing combination of size (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) and skill here. Miettinen projects as more of a depth option at the NHL level, but it wouldn't be the least bit surprising if he continues to pile up the points for the remainder of his junior career. The fact that Miettinen already has a year of North American hockey under his belt is a great sign for his future development.
