Cubs' Tyson Miller: Rough outing again Tuesday
Miller allowed three runs on two hits and a walk across an inning of relief in Tuesday's 5-0 loss to the Pirates.
Chicago already trailed 2-0 when Miller came on in the seventh inning, so the righty didn't take the loss, though he didn't help his team's cause, either. Miller allowed a three-run bomb to Jared Triolo, who has just a .599 OPS this season, to cap off the rough outing. This is the second time in his last three appearances that Miller has allowed three runs, but he still has a strong 2.61 ERA overall, so it's probably not time to hit the panic button quite yet.

Cubs' Tyson Miller: Struggles in Friday's outing
Miller allowed three runs on two hits and a walk while retiring only a single batter in relief during Friday's 7-6 win over the Nationals.
Miller was tasked with the bottom of the ninth inning in a non-save situation with the Cubs up 7-3. However, things quickly went awry for the righty, and Chicago eventually turned to Drew Smyly and then Keegan Thompson to record the last two outs of the frame, with the latter picking up the save. Miller saw his ERA climb from 1.64 to 2.17 in the process. His previous success suggests he'll bounce back quickly from the rough outing, as this was the first time he allowed a run since late July, breaking a streak of 11 straight scoreless appearances.

Cubs' Tyson Miller: Picks up win Friday
Miller (4-1) tossed a scoreless 10th inning to earn the win out of the bullpen Friday against the Blue Jays.
After Hector Neris blew the save by allowing three runs in the ninth inning, Miller picked Chicago up with a much better 10th, needing just five pitches to shut the door on Toronto. The righty has been solid this season, as he now has a 1.83 ERA and 0.77 WHIP across 44.1 innings for the Cubs and Mariners. If Neris gets pulled from the closer role due to his middling performance, Miller could be a candidate to see save opportunities, though Porter Hodge is probably ahead of him right now in the bullpen pecking order.

Cubs' Tyson Miller: Earns win in relief
Miller (3-1) tossed 1.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win Friday against the Cardinals. He struck out one.
Chicago starter Javier Assad only lasted four innings in this one, which opened the door for Miller to pick up his third win in relief this year. The righty has emerged as a nice bullpen option for the Cubs, posting a 2.06 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 36 strikeouts across 39.1 innings. He's still likely behind both Hector Neris and Porter Hodge in the pecking order for saves, though with Mark Leiter traded to New York, Miller could at least see a bit more high-leverage work moving forward.
