  • Texans' Robert Woods: Has statistically worst season

Woods ended the 2023 regular season with 40 catches (on 75 targets) for 426 yards and one touchdown over 14 games.

Woods was given heavy usage early in the season -- more than half of his targets came in the first five weeks -- but quarterback C.J. Stroud looked his way less often as the season wore on. Part of that was due to injuries, but it also was a reflection of improved production from Nico Collins and the emergence of rookie Tank Dell (lower leg). Woods had the worst statistical season of his 11-year career. Those developments and another turn around the sun -- Woods will be 32 next season -- suggest the Texans might move on from the veteran. Cutting Woods could save Houston $5 million in cap space.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Cleared to play Saturday

Woods (hip) doesn't carry an injury designation ahead of Saturday's divisional-round game against the Ravens.

Woods was deemed a limited practice participant Tuesday through Thursday, but the wideout nonetheless will be available Saturday. In the process, he should have a chance to reclaim a key role alongside top WR Nico Collins, with Noah Brown (shoulder) having landed on injured reserve earlier this week. In that context, John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson also are candidates to see added opportunities this weekend.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Another limited session

Woods (hip) remained a limited participant at practice Wednesday.

Woods was also deemed limited in Tuesday's session, but at this stage, the Texans haven't suggested that the wideout will miss Saturday's divisional-round game against the Ravens. Thursday's injury report will clarify whether Woods heads into the weekend with a designation or is fully cleared to play.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Manages limited practice

Woods (hip) was officially a limited participant in practice Tuesday.

Though Woods was a limited participant in the session, he could have a bigger role this weekend against Baltimore after ranking fourth among Houston's wide receivers in snaps during Saturday's 45-14 win over Cleveland. Noah Brown suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in the first quarter, and it was mostly John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson who took on extra snaps -- perhaps because Woods was still bothered by the hip injury that held him out Week 18 and had him listed as questionable for the wild-card round.
