Having said that, both players began Week 14 prep with a cap on their practice reps. The pair will have two more opportunities Thursday and Friday before the team potentially tags them with designations ahead of Sunday's game at the Giants.
I would expect both Johnson and Foster Moreau see a boost in playing time with Taysom Hill out. They are both streaming options and the right one to play is probably whichever one scores a touchdown. I slightly favor Johnson because of the seven targets he saw last week.

Johnson logged three or fewer catches for the fifth week in a row. It seemed like the 6-foot-4 tight end could've had a bigger target share with wideouts Chris Olave (concussion), Rashid Shaheed (knee) and Bub Means (ankle) now all on IR. Instead, running back Alvin Kamara led the team with six targets while newly acquired wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling exploded for a team-high 109 receiving yards. Johnson has now recorded 22 catches for 247 yards and one touchdown through 10 games, which is a far cry from his stat line over 13 games last season when he logged 37-368-4 across 13 appearances. He'll hope to see more targets during next week's home game versus the Browns on Sunday, Nov. 17.
Johnson brought in both targets for 41 yards in the Saints' 23-22 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
Johnson's receiving yardage total was enough to tie him for second on the afternoon with Taysom Hill. Johnson was not listed as New Orleans' starting tight end for the second game in a row. Instead, Foster Moreau got the start once again despite coming back from a concussion sustained in last week's win over Carolina. Neither tight end logged any targets Sunday, as quarterback Derek Carr attempted just 16 passes while throwing for 243 yards and two touchdowns to one interception.
