Smith tried out with Philadelphia on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. After being waived by the Giants back in July, Smith is now looking to earn a chance with their division rival. Because they recently placed 2022 third-rounder Nakobe Dean on IR, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Eagles try to add some depth at linebacker soon.... See More ... See Less

Smith, who ended last season on IR with the same Achilles injury, was waived with an injury designation Tuesday. Elerson Smith: Let go Tuesday
Smith (Achilles) was waived with an injury designation Tuesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. Smith ended last season on IR and had only appeared in 13 contests since being selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Giants' Elerson Smith: Season over following IR placement
Smith (Achilles) is slated to miss the rest of the 2022-23 season after being placed on injured reserve, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports. Smith is now set to receive season-ending surgery next week on a nagging bone spur by his Achilles/heel. Giants' Elerson Smith: Moved to IR
Smith (lower leg) was placed on the Gaints' injured reserve Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports. Smith has been sidelined since suffering a right leg injury during practice in mid-August, and he will now open the regular season on IR for the second-straight year. As a result, the 2021 fourth-round pick, who collected eight tackles over eight games during his rookie season, will be forced to sit out at least the first four games of the 2022 campaign....
