San Francisco designated Willis (undisclosed) for return from injured reserve Wednesday. Willis' three-week practice window has opened, so he can rejoin his teammates on the practice field. If the 49ers don't activate him before the end of the three-week window, Willis would have to spend the rest of the season on IR.... See More ... See Less

49ers' Jordan Willis: Questionable for divisional-round
Willis (ankle) is questionable to play in Saturday night's divisional-round matchup versus the Packers. Willis picked up a high-ankle injury during the 49ers' wild-card win over the Cowboys, opening the week as a non-participant at Tuesday's practice. The defensive lineman was able to log limited efforts at practice Wednesday and Thursday, opening the door to be available for Saturday's divisional-round matchup with the Packers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Thursday that Willis has a chance to play this weekend because the injury is more of an aggravation of an old one rather than a new sprain, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.... 49ers' Jordan Willis: Diagnosed with high-ankle sprain
Willis suffered a high-ankle sprain during Sunday's wild-card win over the Cowboys and is unlikely to play Saturday against the Packers, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Willis and Nick Bosa (concussion) were both injured on the same play late in the second quarter. However, the former was able to return to the field after halftime and totaled one quarterback hit on Dak Prescott across 22 defensive snaps. While he was able to continue playing Sunday, it appears that he won't be available for the NFC divisional round after being diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, which usually takes over a week to properly heal. The good news for the 49ers is that Bosa is expected to clear concussion protocols ahead of Saturday, so they will likely have their top edge pass rusher. However, Samson Ebukam will likely be thrust into an expanded role if Willis is ultimately ruled out.... See More ... See Less -
49ers' Jordan Willis: Back from suspension
Willis was activated from the reserve/suspended list Monday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Willis served a six-game suspension to start the 2021 season for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, but he figures to be available for Week 8 in Chicago. The defensive end appeared in seven contests a season ago, finishing with 13 tackles (seven solo) and 2.5 sacks.... See More ... See Less -
49ers' Jordan Willis: Suspended six games
Willis received a six-game suspension Thursday for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. In seven games with the 49ers last year, Willis tallied 13 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 183 snaps. The 26-year-old will still be able to participate in all offseason and preseason activities, but he'll miss the first six regular-season games.... See More ... See Less -
49ers' Jordan Willis: Re-signs with 49ers
Willis re-signed with the 49ers on Tuesday,Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The 49ers traded with the Jets for Willis back in October and now the defensive end has solidified the Bay Area as his home for the immediate future. In seven games with the 49ers, Willis recorded 13 tackles (seven solo) and 2.5 sacks across 183 snaps. He was sidelined with COVID-19 issues and an ankle injury during the season as well.... 49ers' Jordan Willis: Traded to Bay Area
Willis was traded along with a 2021 seventh-round pick to the 49ers via the Jets on Wednesday in exchange for a 2022 sixth-round pick, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. The 25-year-old has seen action in just two games this season with the Jets, as he's battled an ankle injury. Between the two games, Willis has logged 46 total defensive snaps but no tackles. It's likely that he'll assume more of a rotational role in the defense with the 49ers going forward.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Jordan Willis: Won't play Thursday
Willis (ankle) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Broncos, Randy Lange of the Jets' official site reports. Willis hasn't resumed practicing since suffering an ankle injury Week 3. Frankie Luvu stands to handle increased defensive snaps as long as Willis is unable to go.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Jordan Willis: Ready to rock
Willis (knee) was a full participant for Wednesday's practice. Willis missed a majority of training camp due to the knee injury but appears ready for Week 1 against Buffalo. Now healthy, the Kansas State product is expected to handle more of a depth role at defensive end and linebacker for the Jets in 2020.... See More ... See Less -

Bengals' Jordan Willis: Three preseason sacks
Willis notched his third preseason sack Sunday against the Redskins, drawing the attention of teammate Vontaze Burfict, the Bengals' official site reports. "They come off the edge, they don't even think about it," Burfict raved. "Just go after it. They're young, hungry, and fast. Jordan (Willis) is going to be somebody to reckon with. He comes off the edge fast." Burfict also praised teammates Carl Lawson and Chris Smith in the context of that quote. Willis, a third-round pick from Kansas State, had the quickest 40-yard dash among DL at the combine in 4.53 seconds. The Bengals emphasized getting more speed on the defensive line, with positive results so far.... See More ... See Less
