  • Cardinals' Denzel Burke: Headed home

The Cardinals selected Burke in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 174th overall.

Burke grew up in the Phoenix area before stepping in as an immediate starter at Ohio State. He was a Second Team All-American in his junior season but suffered from an inconsistent final year in college, causing his slide in the draft. Burke's pedigree makes him a notable addition to an Arizona secondary that lacks proven talent, and he'll join college rival Will Johnson in the rookie class at corner for the team.

  • Cardinals' Cody Simon: Grabbed in fourth round by Arizona

The Cardinals selected Simon in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 115th overall.

Simon anchored Ohio State's defense as the middle linebacker for the past two seasons, and he played an integral role in the Buckeyes' victory in the National Championship Game (in which he was named the defensive MVP). He finished his senior year logging 112 tackles (51 solo), including 7.0 sacks, seven pass deflections and one forced fumble across 15 games and was named to the Third Team All-Big Ten roster. Simon will bolster a Cardinals linebacker corps headlined by Mack Wilson, Akeem Davis-Gaither and Baron Browning.

  • Cardinals' Jordan Burch: Heading to Arizona

The Cardinals selected Burch in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 78th overall.

Arizona is stockpiling defensive talent in this draft, as all three of its picks have come on that side of the ball thus far. Burch was a five-star recruit out of high school who started at South Carolina before transferring to Oregon for his final two years. He seemed to finally put things together in his fifth collegiate season with 8.5 sacks, which surpassed his previous career total. Burch has the upside that's worth rolling the dice on in the third round, though it's worth wondering why it took so long for his talent to turn into production at the college level.

  • Cardinals' Will Johnson: Cards add Round 2 cornerback

The Cardinals selected Johnson in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 47th overall.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Johnson likely fell to the second round at least in part due to long-term concerns over his knee. Johnson also dealt with a foot injury in the fall and a hamstring injury this spring, so durability has been a general challenge even aside from the knee. The good news is that no one really doubts Johnson's abilities, because the 6-foot-2, 194-pound corner was likely the best player in a dominant Wolverines secondary the last three years. Johnson started his last two years and part of his freshman season at Michigan, and it bodes well for his skill-set projection that he could stand out to such a clear degree so early in his career. In addition to spearheading a Wolverines defense that rarely gave up catches or yardage, Johnson showed a unique playmaking ability by intercepting nine career passes and returning three for a touchdown.

  • Cardinals' Walter Nolen: Goes to Cardinals at 16 overall

The Cardinals selected Nolen in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 16th overall.

Nolen is still coming into his own as a 21-year-old interior defensive lineman, but the potential is there. A five-star recruit out of high school, Nolen played two collegiate seasons at Texas A&M before transferring to Mississippi for his final year. He blossomed at Ole Miss with 14 tackles for loss and a career-best 6.5 sacks. Athletically, he has a similar frame to fellow first-rounder Mason Graham at 6-foot-4 and 296 pounds. Though Nolen did not participate in drills, the tape shows him to be athletic for his position. He projects to play defensive tackle in Arizona's four-man front.

  • Cardinals' Paris Johnson: Feels back to full health

Johnson (knee) said Tuesday he feels "completely" healthy to begin the Cardinals' voluntary offseason workout program, Zach Gershman of the team's official site reports.

Johnson earned a Pro Bowl alternate nod in 2024 despite having his season end early due to a knee injury sustained Week 15, but he's fully healthy for the start of offseason conditioning activities. The 2023 first-round pick expressed optimism that being allowed to remain at the same position (left tackle) in back-to-back seasons for the first time since high school will help him take another step forward, per Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com. As a rookie in 2023, Johnson was asked to start at right tackle.
